Dear WCAC Members and Friends,

We are pleased to present you with WCAC’s FY 2014 Annual Report. The photographs and summaries highlight some of the Arts Council’s accomplishments over the past year. Our mission is to aid, encourage, advise and correlate all activities dedicated to the promotion of the arts in Worcester County and to integrate such activities into the total life of the communities served by the Council.

As we move forward, we pledge to continue our work and we stay committed to our mission. It is gratifying to look back over the past year and see the progress we have made. Our successes would not be possible without you - our sponsors, donors, patrons and members—please know that is your unwavering support that helps us foster the arts and greater appreciation for the arts in our Community. As we approach the new fiscal year, we look forward to continuing to make achievements for the Arts in Worcester County!

The President and Board of Directors take great pleasure in welcoming the following

new members:

Individual Nancy Forney, Antoinette Greaves, Joan Roache, Richard Segars, Thomas Strah

Family Mike & Jennifer Labesky

The diverse programs of the Arts Council are made possible in large part due to the support of Maryland State Arts Council, Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, Berlin/Ocean City Optimists Club and the contributions of our valuable members and volunteers.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Brian Garrett, a native of the Eastern Shore, has a degree in Studio Art and Art History from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. His love of the nature and people is apparent in his photography.

"I was originally an oil painter. I guess because of that I am drawn to the sweeping landscapes and rural character of the people of the Shore. They are some of the subjects I enjoy capturing most in my personal work".

Recently, Brian was honored to be included in the Outdoor's Maryland 2014 Calendar. In addition, his work has been featured on the cover of the Worcester and Somerset County Libraries Fall Calendar of events.

Brian has been serving on the WCAC Board of Directors since 2012. In his new role as a President, he will focus on increasing public awareness of the grants,

scholarships, exhibits, and many other community programs offered by the WCAC. He will also concentrate on growing the membership and volunteerism of the Arts Council.

His artistic portfolio and contact information are available online at www.briangarrettphoto.com and current postings of his work on Facebook at Brian Garrett Photography. According to Brian, "I find the most amazing images, in the most ordinary places, when I am able to just slow down and be aware of the beauty that is all around me."

At the Annual Membership meeting held on Sunday, June 8, the Worcester County Arts Council elected FY 2015 new slate of Officers as follows: President - Brian Garrett, Vice President -Sharon Sorrentino, David Simpson - Treasurer, and Monika Lilley who will continue her second term as a Secretary. Outgoing President, Carol Dorman thanked the Board and patrons of the Council for their continued support during her past year of leadership. Below are the newly elected officers: Sharon Sorrentino, Brian Garrett, Monika Lilley pictured with WCAC Executive Director, Anna Mullis during the Annual Meeting.
