“When the men of Ashdod saw that it was

so, they said, ‘The ark of the God of Israel

must not remain with us, for His hand is

severe on us and on Dagon our god’.”

1Samuel 5:7 ESV

After witnessing with their own eyes their god, Dagon, being damaged and then dismembered, the Philistines recognized it was the God of Israel Who was responsible for this. Instead of humbly bowing before Him, if for no other reason than the fact that He was more powerful than their god, they chose to keep their idol and send the ark of the covenant away. The ark represented the presence of God in the midst of His chosen people.

But the Israelites were no less guilty of not honoring the Living God Who chose them to be His light to the gentile nations. Instead of this being a blessing to them, how often we read of the Israelites choosing to worship foreign gods, despite knowing of His miraculous acts on behalfof their forefathers, or the current victories they experienced when they truly repented before Him of their waywardness. They put more valueon the material ark, as a valuable object, to the point of idolatry or superstition, instead of what it should have reminded them of – the One true living God , to whom they should have given their obedience.

Oh that we all would learn from those who have gone on before us! We are in a spiritual battle with the enemy of our souls and we must diligently seek Him through fellowship with Him in His Word, in prayer and with other Believers. Otherwise, our hearts are just as sinful as the men of Ashdod, and only by God’s grace can we be forgiven and restored to a right relationship with Him. And, this is only possible because of the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus, taking our sin on the cross and giving us His righteousness when we receive Him. “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

How thankful we are that we can provide scholarships and support to students so that they can experience an education in a school where the Lord Jesus is lifted up and honored!

Prayer Partner Luncheon…..

We had a wonderful turnout of prayer partners at our luncheon in September. Only four adults could not attend, which is pretty good for trying to plan an event that can fit most people’s schedules! The students sat with their adult and shared things about themselves, played a game, ate and closed in prayer. Knowing that ALL of our students are specifically being upheld before the Throne of Grace is a blessing. Special relationships form between the students and their adults, and we have seen the Lord use these in mighty ways over the years.

HEART & SOLE CLUB…..

We are currently “tabling” the idea of a walking/fitness club and will revisit the idea next school year, due to a lack of interest shown by the students.

Thank you to all who support Eagle Wings Academy Scholarships & Student Support in many ways. We know that the Lord has His hand on this ministry, as only He could sustain us these past 12 years! We thank Him for the wonderful relationships we have with Faith Heritage School Staff/Teachers, and how He is using this partnership to truly bless the students and their families!

Blessings,

Anna Shipe (EWA Administrator)
