WE NEED YOUR HELP TO SUPPORT GARDEN AND MOWING ROSTER

Thank you, to Katie Duncan for caring for our preschool garden and chickens on the

weekend. The garden is a vital part of our learning

environment. The garden maintenance is an ongoing commitment to valuing the

importance of young children learning, and education & care.

Thank you to all the families who have volunteered for the 2020 Lawn Mowing and Garden Roster. If you can help, we would sincerely appreciate your time. COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

The Department of Education has provided this updated advice in relation to the COVID-19 (previously referred to as Coronavirus). In particular, this advice adds requirements for children or staff who have been in Iran.

Updated advice from the NSW Government for parents, services and affected staff is:

▪ Any student or staff member who has been in, or transited

through, mainland China (not just Hubei province) or Iran is

excluded from work, school or child care services for 14 days

from the date they left mainland China or Iran (as the COVID-

19 incubation period can be as long as two weeks).

▪ Any confirmed case of COVID-19 will be excluded until they

are medically cleared to return.

▪ Close contact of a confirmed case of COVID-19 will be

excluded for 14 days since last contact with the confirmed

case.

The Ministry of Health has processes in place to identify any close contacts of cases confirmed in Australia. Advice about not attending early childhood and childcare services would be provided to these close contacts by the Ministry of Health.

Consistent with current guidelines, staff and children who are unwell with respiratory illness should remain at home until symptoms resolve.

As per the National Law and Regulations governing all children’s education and care services, we must report outbreaks

Children get the most out of the experience if they are the Music Makers and not always the listeners. Children do not need to always have instruments to make music. They can be the instrument by humming, clapping, tapping, stomping and using different levels and tones of voice. Children can also make their own instruments with natural or recycled materials. Or discover the sound of other elements both bought and natural.

COVID-19 and excursions Based on advice from NSW Ministry of Health we advise from 5 March 2020, early childhood education and care services should not visit aged care facilities until further notice to minimise the spread of respiratory infections, such as influenza and other respiratory viruses. Sadly, we have cancelled our Eloura visits until further notice.

Scholarship Opportunity Quirindi Rotary Club, in partnership with Concord Rotary Club, is offering a Scholarship of $6,000.00 per year for 3 years, to 18 to 50-year olds. The Scholarship aims to assist communities by supporting those recipients completing Tertiary courses by returning and benefiting their own communities. With the current effect of the drought, there may be many families and communities that require such support to continue the services the town/s require. giving us the opportunity to share our creativity with an

extra splash of fun.

Creating

Dinosaur Fossils!

The only reason that

we know giant dinosaurs and other extinct animals existed is

because some animal remains have been preserved as fossils.

Children’s fine motor skills, needed for eventual writing results from muscle development sequence, beginning with arm, then the hand, and finally the fingers. Some examples of whole-body muscle development include strengthening the child’s core body, balance, and coordination, whole arm, whole hand, pincer and pincer coordination.

Introducing our chive head family! We wonder how much the chives would have grown over the weekend.

Sharing of knowledge…inspired by a plastic bucket and a container of corks. This brief story

is a perfect example of how learning is a partnership between children and adults. For our brief retelling we will title the story ‘Charlie’s Honey’. Charlie utilised materials his peers were already using in another weighing activity and then he began to share his story of ‘Honey’. Supported by his educators Charlie recalled his knowledge of bees and his story evolved. Loose parts, (corks and bucket) a knowledge shared with him by his dad and Charlies own comprehension and hands on learning allowed him to demonstrate his own understanding about what things are, how things work and how things are connected to each other. The bucket had significance in the collection of honey and the corks were significant shapes that inspired him to reconstruct a wax honeycomb frame for a beehive. The wax honeycomb is used as a foundation for the bees to build a colony. From the garden he found two leaves to create a bee, and from a flower he took the pollen and sprinkled around the bee frame. He then flew his bee into the pollen and deposited into the cork hive. Your children amaze us all the time with what they understand. Thank you for your trust.
