We know that the structure of living things consist of cells. Cell are the building blocks of life. Everything in the human body is made up of cells. Cells make up tissues. The tissues make up organs, and different organs make up organ systems. For example, blood cells make up blood tissue, which makes up blood

vessels and arteries. Another example would be skin. Epithelial cells make up the skin, which is the largest organ in the human body used

for keeping out bacteria.

We know what we know about the structure of living things because people donate their bodies to science to be

experimented on. We also do experiments like dissect frogs because their internal organs are very similar to human organs. This helps us learn and

understand about our bodies, so we can tell when something is wrong with it.

This year we got a chance to go to the Bodies Exhibit in New York. We saw real human bodies that were given to science, and preserved. This gave us the opportunity to see a human body from the inside-out. We really learned a lot.

We know that what we know about the structure of living things is correct because different information is shared with us by scientists and doctors all over the world. For example,

scientists in China would take the unclaimed dead bodies and preserve them. Then they would dissect them. Then, the scientist would send the bodies

over to the Bodies Exhibit in New York. This helped share his knowledge with the whole world, enabling others to learn what he learned.

What we do to improve and/or revise what we know about the structure of living things is that doctors and

scientists are constantly running tests to keep information in books and on the internet as updated as possible.

In class we do things like share information with other tables. This helps us find our mistakes so we get the correct information.

A+Kristen Kennett1. Infants are bone with

almost 300 bones, but

they fuse together as

they grow.

Our understanding of the structure of living things help us understand the natural world by helping

us cope with any problems our bodies might face. By knowing all our major organs, and organ systems we will be able to know when something is wrong.

For example, we go to the doctors office when we are sick. Then the doctor can give us a medication to help us get better.
