Volume 2, Edition 18 May 8, 2017 SISD Celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week In recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week, SISD's teacher and paraprofessional staff were honored in multiple ways! Many activities were held last week on each campus by PTO groups and SISD Administration. Teachers were treated to lots of food, drinks, and goodies! Snyder ISD promoted the theme of "Growing Minds at SISD" in honor of the week. Our district strives to promote growth and learning among our students every day, and we know we could not make the difference we do without our incredible staff. We would like to extend our gratitude to our teaching and paraprofessional staff for all of their hard work and dedication to SISD! #GrowingMindsAtSISD SPS Camp Wanna Learn A Lot Was a Great Success Over the past several weeks, the 3 rd graders from SPS have worked hard to gain strong academic understanding of the reading and math skills needed for future success. Each Friday, the students celebrated their hard work during the week with a “camp fire activity.” From s’mores to camp songs to team-building games, SPS teachers, students, and administrators have made it clear that hard work needs to be celebrated. Camp Wanna Learn A Lot culminates today and tomorrow with a campus that offers a very encouraging environment so kids can do their best! Lead4ward Trainings Scheduled for In-Service in 2017-18 School Year Many teachers and campus administrators have requested more Lead4ward trainingand coming in August, Snyder ISD will host 2 Lead4ward events. On August 2 nd , during New Teacher Bootcamp, Lead4ward 101 will give new teachers and other staff members an in depth overview to all the Lead4ward tools. The training will focus on how to use the tools to plan the most effective and engaging instruction for students. On August 8 th , SISD will host a Lead4ward PLC training for administrators, lead teachers, and core subject teachers. The PLC training will develop skills in unit planning and lesson planning. If you are interested in attending either of these trainings, visit with your principal to get signed up! STAAR Camp and Enrichment Camps Coming in the Fall Each campus will be hosting a STAAR Camp August 21- 25 for students who need additional intervention to be more grade-level ready for the 2017-18 school year. The STAAR Camp days are part of the 187 teacher contract days. Students will be invited to attend STAAR Camp based on academic achievement, STAAR Test results, SSI plans, and teacher recommendations. Additionally, ACE will host a Summer Bridge Camp in July to offer additional support for students and combat summer learning loss for our struggling students. Also during August 21-25, each campus will offer enrichment camps for students who are excelling academically. Enrichment camps will be a great way to engage our highly bright students in hands-on, creative thinking scenarios. If you are interested in offering a unique enrichment camp, get with your campus principal today! Retired SJHS Teacher Robert Bailey Offers Inspiration SJHS staff and administration encouraged students to do their best on this week’s STAAR test by inviting Robert Bailey to speak to all three lunches on Friday. Mr. Bailey was and is passionate about encouraging students to do their best. Additionally the 7 th grade STEAM students created a video that was shared with all students to help students to remember their strategies and achieve success. Shout out to the SHS Staff, SROs, and community members for creating a very impactful Shattered Dreams program this year! STAAR Success!
