LEGIONELLA RISK ASSESSMENTS
HEALTH AND SAFETY EXECUTIVE’S APPROVED CODE
OF PRACTICE (HSE’S ACOP) L8
• Legionella bacteria lays dormant in water that’s under 20 degrees centigrade and above 50 degrees. If
water sits at a temperature between the 2, there is a risk of an outbreak.
• At the heart of the HSE’s Approved Code of Practice is the need to assess the entire water system –
particularly dead legs and unused sections, for risk of harbouring and nurturing the bacteria.
• When sufficient risk is deemed present, those responsible must put in place an effective monitoring and
maintenance programme and have a contingency plan in the event of an outbreak.
• We provide comprehensive Legionella Risk Assessments reports, detailing remedial work required to
make your company compliant.

HEALTH AND SAFETY AT THE CORE OF OUR BUSINESS
The hotel had been experiencing excessive water
consumption for some considerable time.
Full water audit revealed significant leakage.
Given our knowledge of hotel water systems and
considerable commercial plumbing expertise, we were
appointed to complete the remedial work.
Work was carried out during a quiet period for the hotel
with minimum disruption to guests.
Within three months, the savings achieved covered the
cost of the remedial work.

CHEWTON GLEN HOTEL
WATER AUDIT AND REMEDIAL WORK
Bournemouth airport were experiencing high
consumption, they contacted us to discuss ways to
reduce their consumption.
We worked with the airport and conducted a
sophisticated leak detection survey which uncovered 3
large leaks, one of which was dangerously close to the
runway.
We repaired the main and fixed various other little leaks
uncovered along the way, the result was a reduction of
over 100,000m3 – equalling a saving of £70,000. The
costs of the repairs were recouped in just five months.
