1. Your Legal Rights UnderThese Limited Warranties

The warranties contained in this booklet are the onlyexpress warranties that DaimlerChrysler Motors CompanyLLC ("DaimlerChrysler") makes for your truck. Thesewarranties give you specific legal rights. You may alsohave other rights that vary from state to state. Forexample, you may have some implied warranties, depend-ing on the state where your truck is registered:

• An “implied warranty of merchantability” means thatyour truck is reasonably fit for the general purpose forwhich it was sold.

• An “implied warranty of fitness for a particular purpose”means that your truck is suitable for your special

purposes if those special purposes were specificallydisclosed to DaimlerChrysler itself — not merely to thedealer — before your purchase, and DaimlerChrysler —not just the dealer — told you the truck would be suitablefor that purpose.

These implied warranties are limited, to the extent allowedby law, to the time periods covered by the express writtenwarranties contained in this booklet.

If you use your truck primarily for business or commer-cial purposes, then these implied warranties do not applyand DaimlerChrysler completely disclaims them to theextent allowed by law. And the implied warranty of fitnessfor a particular purpose does not apply if your truck is usedfor racing, even if the truck is equipped for racing.

Some states do not allow limitations on how long animplied warranty lasts, so the above limitations maynot apply to you.

2. What's Covered UnderDaimlerChrysler's Warranties

2.1 Basic Limited Warranty

A. Who Is Covered?You are covered by the Basic Limited Warranty ifyou are a purchaser for use of the vehicle.

B. What’s CoveredThe Basic Limited Warranty covers the cost of allparts and labor needed to repair any defective itemon your truck supplied by DaimlerChryslerCorporation that is defective in material, work-manship or factory preparation. There is no list ofcovered parts since the only exception is tires.

WHAT'S COVERED UNDERDAIMLERCHRYSLER'S WARRANTIES

You pay nothing for these repairs. These warrantyrepairs or adjustments — including all parts and laborconnected with them — will be made by your dealer atno charge, using new or remanufactured parts.

C. Items Covered by Other WarrantiesThe following are covered by separate warrantiesoffered by their makers. They are not covered by theBasic Limited Warranty:

• tires; or• items added or changed after the truck left

DaimlerChrysler Corporation's manufacturing plant,such as accessories or protection products, or itemschanged because of customization or van conver-sion.

Be sure you get a copy of any warranty that applies tothese items from your dealer, or from the maker of theproduct. You can find the tire warranty statements inyour Owner’s Literature Package.

D. Towing Costs Are Covered Under CertainCircumstancesThe Basic Limited Warranty covers the cost of towingyour truck to the nearest Chrysler, Dodge or Jeepdealer if your truck can’t be driven because a coveredpart has failed.

E. When It BeginsThe Basic Limited Warranty begins on either of thefollowing dates, whichever is earlier:

• the date you take delivery of the truck; or

• the date when the truck was first put into service —for example, as a dealer “demo” or as aDaimlerChrysler Corporation company truck.

F. When It EndsThe Basic Limited Warranty lasts for 36 months from thedate it begins or for 36,000 miles on the odometer,whichever occurs first. But the following items arecovered only for 12 months or for 12,000 miles on theodometer, whichever occurs first:

• brakes (rotors, pads, linings, and drums);• wiper blades;• clutch discs;• windshield and rear window; and• wheel alignment and wheel balancing

G. Registration and Operation RequirementsThe Basic Limited Warranty covers your truck only if:

• it was built for sale in the U.S.;• it’s registered in the U.S.;• it’s driven mainly in the U.S. or Canada; and• it’s operated and maintained in the manner

described in your Owner’s Manual.

H. If Your Truck Leaves the United States(We Include U.S. Possessions and Territo-ries as Part of the United States for WarrantyPurposes):EXCEPT WHERE SPECIFICALLYREQUIREDBY LAW, THERE IS NO WARRANTY COVER-AGE ON THIS TRUCK IF IT IS SOLD IN ORREGISTERED IN COUNTRIES OTHER THANTHE UNITED STATES.

This policy does not apply to trucks that havereceived authorization for export from Daimler-Chrysler. Dealers may not give authorization forexport. You should consult an authorized dealerto determine this truck's warranty coverage if youhave any questions.

This policy does not apply to trucks registeredto U.S. government officials or military personnelon assignment outside of the United States.

2.2 Powertrain Limited Warranty

A. Who is Covered?You are covered by the Powertrain LimitedWarranty if you are the first purchaser for use ofthe vehicle. You are also covered if you are thesecond purchaser for use of the vehicle, and havepaid the $150 transfer fee within 30 days ofpurchase. See Section 2.2.F for more informationabout transfer of coverage.

D. When It BeginsThe Powertrain Warranty begins at the end of the BasicLimited Warranty, on either of the following dates,whichever is earlier:

• the date your truck has been in service formore than 36 months; or

• the date you've put more than 36, 000 miles onthe odometer.

E. When It EndsThe Powertrain Warranty lasts for 7 years from the dateyour truck has been in-service or 70,000 miles on theodometer, whichever occurs first, to the first owner.

B. What’s CoveredThe Powertrain Warranty covers the cost of allparts and labor needed (less a $100 deductible perrepair visit at the end of the 3 Year/36,000 MileBasic Limited Warranty) to repair a defectivepowertrain component on your vehicle listed insection 2.2.I below supplied by DaimlerChryslerCorporation that is defective in material, workman-ship or factory preparation.

C. Towing Costs Are CoveredThe Powertrain Warranty covers the cost oftowing your truck to the nearest Chrysler, Dodgeor Jeep dealer if your truck can’t be driven becausea covered part has failed.

F. Transfer of Powertrain Warranty For VehiclesBuilt On or After 10/1/2003You can determine if your vehicle was built on or after10/1/2003 by looking for the bar coded label on thedriver's door frame or door opening. Locate the"MDH" entry on the label. The 1st two numbers arethe month and the 2nd two numbers are the day. The"DATE OF MFR" entry shows month and year thevehicle was built.

To transfer the Powertrain Warranty, you must havean authorized Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer processa "Transfer of Coverage Application" for you. Thecost for this service is $150. You pay this fee directlyto the dealer. You must apply for a coverage transferwithin 30 days from the date you buy the vehicle.

Transfer of coverage under the Cummins DieselEngine Warranty is included in the transfer ofcoverage under the Powertrain Warranty.

G. No Coverage to Second Purchaser ifTransfer Fee is Not PaidIf you do not transfer the remainder of the 7 year/70,000 mile Powertrain Limited Warranty coverageand pay the transfer fee, or if you are the third (orsubsequent) owner of the vehicle, the PowertrainLimited Warranty described in this Section 2.2 doesnot apply to you.

H. Some Commercial Vehicles Are ExcludedVehicles used as a police vehicle, taxi, limousine,postal delivery vehicle, ambulance or rental vehicleare not covered by the 7 Year/70,000 MilePowertrain Limited Warranty.

I. Parts Covered:The Powertrain Warranty covers these parts and compo-nents of your truck's powertrain:

Gasoline Engine: cylinder block and all internalparts; cylinder head assemblies; timing case, timingchain, timing belt, gears and sprockets; vibration damper;oil pump; water pump and housing; intake and exhaustmanifolds; flywheel with starter ring gear; core plugs;valve covers; oil pan; turbocharger housing and internalparts; turbocharger wastegate actuator; supercharger;serpentine belt tensioner; seals and gaskets for listedcomponents only.

Rear WheelDrive: rear axle housing and all internalparts; axle shafts; axle shaft bearings; drive shaftassemblies; drive shaft center bearings; universaljoints and yokes; seals and gaskets for listedcomponents only.

Diesel Engine: cylinder block and all internalparts; cylinder head assemblies; core plugs; fuelinjection pump and injectors; intake and exhaustmanifolds; oil pan; oil pump; timing gear drivebelts and/or chains and cover; turbocharger housingand internal parts; valve covers; water pump andhousing; seals and gaskets for listed componentsonly.

2.3 Cummins Diesel Engine LimitedWarranty

A. Who Is Covered?You are covered by the Cummins Diesel EngineLimited Warranty for up to 7 years or 100,000 miles onthe odometer, whichever comes first, if you are the firstpurchaser for use of the vehicle. You are also coveredfor 7 years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first) if


you are the second purchaser for use of the vehicle,and have paid the $150 transfer fee within 30 days ofpurchase. See section 2.2.F for more informationabout transfer of coverage.

You are covered by the Cummins Diesel EngineLimited Warranty for up to 5 years of 100,000 mileson the odometer, whichever comes first, if you arethe second owner for use of the vehicle and havenot transferred the 7 year coverage and paid thetransfer fee, or if you are a 3rd (or subsequent)owner for use of the vehicle.

B. What's CoveredIn vehicles equipped with a Cummins Diesel Engine,ONLY the following engine parts and componentsare covered by the Cummins Diesel Engine LimitedWarranty:

A $100 deductible per repair visit applies after yourtruck has been in use for 5 years, regardless ofmileage.

If you do not transfer the remainder of the 7 year/70,000mile Powertrain Limited Warranty coverage, the onlywarranty applicable for is the remainder of both the 3year/36,000 mile Basic Limited Warranty and 5 year/100,000 mile Cummins Diesel Engine Limited Warranty.See section 2.2.F for full transfer details.

C. When It BeginsThe Cummins Diesel Engine Warranty begins at the endof the Basic Limited Warranty, on either of the followingdates, whichever is earlier:

• the date your truck has been in service formore than 36 months; or

• the date you've put more than 36, 000 miles onthe odometer.

Less Coverage to Second Purchaser IfTransfer Fee Is Not PaidIf you do not transfer the remainder of the 7 year/70,000 mile Powertrain Limited Warranty coverage,together with the 7 year/100,000 mile Cummins DieselEngine Limited Warranty, and pay the transfer fee, or ifyou are the 3rd (or subsequent) owner of the vehicle,your Cummins Diesel Engine Limited Warranty runsfor 5 years or 100,000 miles on the odometer, which-ever comes first.

G. Some Commercial Vehicles Receive 5 Year/100,000 Mile CoverageVehicles used as a police vehicle, taxi, limousine,postal delivery vehicle, ambulance or rental vehicle arecovered by the Cummins Diesel Engine LimitedWarranty for 5 years or 100,000 miles on the odometer,whichever comes first.

D. Towing Costs Are CoveredThe Cummins Diesel Engine Limited Warrantycovers the cost of towing your truck to the nearestDodge dealer if your vehicle cannot be drivenbecause a covered part has failed.

E. Transfer of Cummins Diesel EngineLimited Warranty for Vehicles Built On orAfter 10/1/2003When you transfer coverage under yourPowertrain Warranty, coverage to 7 years or100,000 miles (whichever comes first) under theCummins Diesel Engine Limited Warranty isautomatically transferred.

2.4 Corrosion Warranty

A. Who Is Covered?You are covered if you are a purchaser for use of thevehicle.

B. What's CoveredThis warranty covers the cost of all parts and laborneeded to repair or replace any sheet metal panelsthat get holes from rust or other corrosion. If a holeoccurs because of something other than corrosion,this warranty does not apply. Cosmetic or surfacecorrosion — resulting, for example, from stone chipsor scratches in the paint — is not covered. For moredetails on what isn’t covered by this warranty, see3.6.

C. How Long It LastsThis warranty starts when your Basic LimitedWarranty begins under 2.1(E).

This warranty has two time-and-mileage limits:

• For sheet metal panels, the limit is 36 months,with no mileage limit.

• For an outer-body sheet metal panel — onethat is finish-painted and that someone cansee when walking around the truck — thelimits are 5 years or 100,000 miles on theodometer, whichever occurs first.

3. What's Not Covered3.1 Modifications Not Covered

A. Some Modifications Don’t Void theWarranties But Aren’t CoveredCertain changes that you might make to yourtruck do not, by themselves, void the warrantiesdescribed in this booklet. Examples of some ofthese changes are:

• installing non-DaimlerChrysler MotorsCompany LLC ("DaimlerChrysler") parts,components, or equipment (such as a non-DaimlerChrysler radio or speed control); and

• using special non-DaimlerChrysler materials oradditives.

But your warranties don’t cover any part thatDaimlerChrysler didn’t supply or is not certified foruse on your truck. Nor do they cover the costs of anyrepairs or adjustments that might be caused or neededbecause of the installation or use of non-DaimlerChrysler parts, components, equipment,materials, or additives.

Performance or racing parts are considered to benon-DaimlerChrysler parts. Repairs or adjustmentscaused by their use are not covered under yourwarranties.

Examples of the types of alterations not covered are:• installing accessories — except for genuine

DaimlerChrysler / MOPAR accessories installed byan authorized Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer;

• applying rustproofing or other protectionproducts; or

• using any refrigerant that DaimlerChrysler orDaimlerChrysler Corporation has not approved.

B. Modifications That WILL Void YourWarrantiesThese actions will void your warranties:• disconnecting, tampering with, or altering the

odometer will void your warranties, unless yourrepairing technician follows the legal requirementsfor repairing or replacing odometers; or

• attaching any device that disconnects theodometer will also void your warranties.

3.2 Environmental Factors Not CoveredYour warranties don’t cover damage caused byenvironmental factors such as airborne fallout,chemicals, tree sap, salt, ocean spray, acid rain, androad hazards. Nor do your warranties cover damagecaused by hailstorms, windstorms, tornadoes, sand-storms, lightning, floods, and earthquakes.

Your warranties do not cover conditions resultingfrom anything impacting the truck. This includescracks and chips in glass, scratches and chips inpainted surfaces, or damage from collision.

3.3 Maintenance Costs Not CoveredYour warranties don’t cover the costs of repairingdamage caused by poor or improper maintenance. Nordo they cover damage caused by the use of contami-nated fuels, or by the use of fuels, oils, lubricants,

cleaners or fluids other than those recommended in yourOwner’s Manual.

The warranties don’t cover the costs of yourtruck’s normal or scheduled maintenance — the partsand services that all trucks routinely need. Some of theseparts and services, which your warranties don’t cover,include:

• lubrication;• engine tune-ups;• replacing filters, coolant, spark plugs, bulbs, or

fuses (unless those costs result from a coveredrepair);

• cleaning and polishing; and• replacing worn wiper blades, worn brake pads

and linings, or clutch linings.

WHAT'S NOT COVERED

3.4 Incidental and ConsequentialDamages Not CoveredYour warranties don’t cover any incidental orconsequential damages connected with your truck’sfailure, either while under warranty or afterward.

Examples of such damages include:• lost time;• inconvenience;• the loss of the use of your truck;• the cost of rental trucks, gasoline, telephone,

travel, or lodging;• the loss of personal or commercial property; and• the loss of revenue.

Some states don’t allow incidental or consequentialdamages to be excluded or limited, so this exclusionmay not apply to you.

• corrosion of special bodies, body conversions,or equipment not made or supplied byDaimlerChrysler Corporation or DaimlerChrysler.

3.7 When Powertrain Limited WarrantyDoes Not Apply and Less CumminsDiesel Engine Limited WarrantyCoverage AppliesYou are not covered by the Powertrain LimitedWarranty if you are a second owner and a transfer ofcoverage was not made; if you are the third (orsubsequent) owner of the vehicle; or if the vehiclewas used as a police vehicle, taxi, limousine, postaldelivery vehicle, ambulance or rental vehicle.

If you do not transfer the remainder of the 7 year/70,000 mile Powertrain Limited Warranty coverage,together with the 7 year/100,000 mile Cummins Diesel

3.5 Racing Not CoveredYour warranties don’t cover the costs of repairingdamage or conditions caused by racing, nor do theycover the repair of any defects that are found as theresult of participating in a racing event.

3.6 Certain Kinds of Corrosion NotCoveredYour warranties don’t cover the following:

• corrosion caused by accident, damage, abuse,or truck alteration;

• surface corrosion caused by such things asindustrial fallout, sand, salt, hail, and stones;

• corrosion caused by the extensive or abnormaltransport of caustic materials like chemicals,acids, and fertilizers; and

Engine Limited Warranty, and pay the transfer fee, orif you are the 3rd (or subsequent) owner of thevehicle, your Cummins Diesel Engine LimitedWarranty runs for 5 years or 100,000 miles on theodometer, whichever comes first.

3.8 Other ExclusionsYour warranties don’t cover the costs of repairingdamage or conditions caused by any of the following:

• fire or accident;• abuse or negligence;• misuse — for example, driving over curbs or

overloading;• tampering with the emission systems, or with

a part that could affect the emission systems;

• use of used parts, even if they were originallysupplied by DaimlerChrysler (however, authorizedDaimlerChrysler or MOPAR remanufactured partsare covered);

• windshield or rear window damage from externalobjects;

• any changes made to your truck that don’tcomply with DaimlerChrysler Corporationspecifications; or

• using any fluid that doesn't meet the minimumrecommendations in your Owner's Manual.

3.9 Total Loss, Salvage, Junk, or ScrapTrucks Not CoveredA truck has no warranty coverage of any kind if:

• the truck is declared to be a total loss by aninsurance company;

• the truck is rebuilt after being declared to be atotal loss by an insurance company; or

• the truck is issued a certificate of title indicat-ing that it is designated as “salvage,” “junk,”“rebuilt,” “scrap,” or some similar word.

DaimlerChrysler will deny warranty coverage withoutnotice if it learns that a truck is ineligible for coveragefor any of these reasons.

3.10 Restricted WarrantyYour warranties can also be restricted byDaimlerChrysler. DaimlerChrysler may restrict thewarranty on your truck if the truck is not properlymaintained, or if the truck is abused or neglected,and the abuse or neglect interferes with the properfunctioning of the truck. If the warranty is re-stricted, coverage may be denied or subject toapproval by DaimlerChrysler before covered repairsare performed.

4. Other Terms of YourWarranties

4.1 Exchanged Parts May Be Used inWarranty RepairsIn the interest of customer satisfaction,DaimlerChrysler Motors Company LLC("DaimlerChrysler") may offer exchange service onsome truck parts. This service is intended to reducethe amount of time your truck is not available foryour use because of repairs. Parts used in exchangeservice may be new, remanufactured, reconditioned,or repaired, depending on the part involved.

All exchange parts that might be used meetDaimlerChrysler Corporation standards, and havethe same warranties as new parts.

Examples of the kinds of parts that might beserviced in this way are:

• engine assemblies;• transmission assemblies;• instrument cluster assemblies;• radios, tape and CD players;• speedometers; and• powertrain control modules.

To help control suspected ozone-depleting agents,the EPA requires the capture, purification, and reuseof automotive air-conditioning refrigerant gases. Asa result, a repair to the sealed portion of your air-conditioning system may involve the installation ofpurified reclaimed refrigerant.

OTHER TERMS OF YOUR WARRANTIES

4.2 Pre-Delivery ServiceA defect in or damage to the mechanical, electrical,sheet-metal, paint, trim, and other components of yourtruck may have occurred at the factory or while it wasbeing shipped to the dealer.

Such a defect or damage is usually detected andcorrected at the factory. In addition, dealers mustinspect each truck before delivery. They repair anydefects or damage detected before the truck is deliv-ered to you.

4.3 Production ChangesDaimlerChrysler Corporation, DaimlerChrysler and itsdealers reserve the right to make changes in trucksbuilt or sold by them at any time without incurring anyobligation to make the same or similar changes ontrucks previously built or sold.

4.4 Governing Law and Other TermsAll of the warranties, except for the Federal Emissionsand noise warranty and the California Emissionswarranties, are made under Michigan law, and Michi-gan law will be used to interpret them. Punitive,exemplary or multiple damages may not be recoveredunless applicable state or local law prohibits theirdisclaimer. No person, including DaimlerChrysleremployees or dealers may modify or waive any part ofthese warranties.

C. Additional Emission WarrantiesIf your truck is equipped with a California CertifiedEmission Control System and is registered inCalifornia, Massachusetts, Maine or Vermont, theCalifornia Emission Warranty — described inSection 5.4 — also applies.

5.2 Emission Performance WarrantyThis warranty supplements the federal warranty under5.1. It lasts for 2 years or 24,000 miles on the odometer,whichever occurs first. If your truck has one of thefollowing parts, catalytic converter and powertraincontrol module, this Federal Emission Warranty coversthat part for a period of 8 years or 80,000 miles,whichever occurs first. These limits are counted fromthe time when your Basic Limited Warranty beginsunder 2.1(E). The Emission Performance Warranty

covers the cost of repairing or adjusting any compo-nents or parts that might be needed for your truck topass Federal Emission Standards for a federallyapproved state or local emissions test, but only if:

• your truck has failed a federally approved stateor local emissions test;

• your truck has been maintained and operatedproperly up until it fails such a test; and

• you face a real penalty — for example, a fine orthe loss of the use of your truck — because thetruck has failed the test.

Section 6.3 explains how to get service under thiswarranty.

A. The owner may elect tohave maintenance, replacement or repair of the emissioncontrol parts performed by a facility other than an autho-rized Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer and may elect to useparts other than new genuine DaimlerChrysler / MOPAR orDaimlerChrysler / MOPAR approved rebuilt parts andassemblies for such maintenance, replacement or repair;however, the cost of such service or parts and subsequentfailures resulting from such service or parts will not becovered under this emission control system warranty,except for Emergency Repairs as described below.


DaimlerChrysler Motors Company LLC'sResponsibilitiesThe warranty coverage begins when the truck is deliveredto the ultimate purchaser.

Repairs and service will be performed by any authorizedChrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer using new, genuineDaimlerChrysler / MOPAR or DaimlerChrysler / MOPARapproved rebuilt parts and assemblies. DaimlerChryslerwill repair any of the emission control parts found byDaimlerChrysler to be defective without charge for parts orlabor (including diagnosis which results in determinationthat there has been a failure of a warranted emissioncontrol part).

Emergency RepairsIn the case of an emergency where an authorizedChrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer is not available, repairs maybe performed by any available repair location or by anyindividual using any replacement parts. A part not beingavailable within 30 days or a repair not being completewithin 30 days constitutes an emergency. DaimlerChryslerwill reimburse the owner for expenses (including diagnosis),not to exceed the manufacturer's suggested retail price forall warranted parts replaced and labor charges based on themanufacturer's recommended time allowance for thewarranty repair and the geographically appropriate hourlylabor rate. Replaced parts and paid invoices must bepresented to the DaimlerChrysler Customer Center as acondition of reimbursement for emergency repairs notperformed by a Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep authorized dealer.

Warranty LimitationsDaimlerChrysler is not responsible for failures or damageresulting from what DaimlerChrysler determines to be abuseor neglect, including, but not limited to: operation withoutadequate coolants or lubricants; overfueling; overspeeding;lack of maintenance of cooling, lubricating or intakesystems; improper storage, starting, warm-up, run-in or shutdown practices; unauthorized modifications to the engine.DaimlerChrysler is also not responsible for failures causedby incorrect oil or fuel or by water, dirt or other contami-nants in the fuel or oil.

DaimlerChrysler is not responsible for failures resultingfrom improper repair or the use of parts which are notgenuine DaimlerChrysler / MOPAR or DaimlerChrysler /MOPAR approved parts.

THIS WARRANTY, TOGETHER WITH THE EXPRESSCOMMERCIAL WARRANTIES ARE THE SOLE ANDEXCLUSIVE WARRANTIES MADE BYDAIMLERCHRYSLER. THERE ARE NO OTHERWARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, OR OFMERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR APARTICULAR PURPOSE.

5.5 Noise Emission Warranty - HeavyDuty Truck

A. Description of CoverageDaimlerChrysler warrants that this vehicle as manu-factured by DaimlerChrysler Corporation, wasdesigned, built and equipped to conform to allapplicable U.S. EPA Noise Control Regulations at thetime it left DaimlerChrysler Corporation's control. This warranty covers this vehicle as designed, builtand equipped by DaimlerChrysler Corporation,and is not limited to any particular part, component orsystem of the vehicle manufactured by DaimlerChryslerCorporation. Defects in design, assembly or in any part,component or system of the vehicle as manufacturedby DaimlerChrysler Corporation, which, at the time it

left DaimlerChrysler Corporation's control, caused noiseemissions to exceed Federal standards, are covered bythis warranty for the life of the vehicle.

B. Products WarrantedAll vehicles built over 10,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle WeightRating and manufactured for sale and use in the UnitedStates are required to comply with the FederalGovernment's Exterior Noise Regulations. Thesevehicles can be identified by the Noise Emission ControlLabel located in the operator's compartment.

C. Tampering with Noise Control SystemProhibitedFederal law prohibits the following acts or thecausing thereof:

• the removal or rendering inoperative by anyperson, other than for purposes of maintenance,repair, or replacement, of any device or element ofdesign incorporated into any new vehicle for thepurpose of noise control prior to its sale ordelivery to the ultimate purchaser or while it is inuse; or

• the use of the vehicle after such device or elementof design has been removed or rendered inopera-tive by any person.

Among those acts presumed to constitute tamperingare the acts listed below:

AIR CLEANER• removal of the air cleaner;• inverting the air cleaner lid; or• removal of the air ducting.

AIR INJECTION SYSTEM• removal of the air pump filter canister or canister lid;• removal of the air pump filter elements from the

canister; or• disconnection, removal, or plugging of any hose or

tube of the air injection system.

6. How to Get Warranty Service

6.1 Where to Take Your Truck

A. In the United States (We Include U.S.Possessions and Territories as Part of theUnited States for Warranty Purposes):Warranty service must be done by an authorizedChrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer. We stronglyrecommend that you take your truck to yourSelling Dealer. They know you and your truckbest, and are most concerned that you get promptand high quality service. If you move within theUnited States, warranty service may be requestedfrom any authorized Chrysler, Dodge or Jeepdealer.

B. In Canada and Mexico:If you are traveling temporarily in Canada orMexico, and your truck remains registered in theUnited States, your DaimlerChrysler warranty stillapplies. Service may be requested at any authorizedChrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealership.

C. In a Foreign Country Outside of NorthAmerica:If you are traveling temporarily outside of NorthAmerica, and your truck remains registered in theUnited States:

• You should take your truck to an authorizedChrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer. They should giveyou the same warranty service you receive in theUnited States.

HOW TO GET WARRANTY SERVICE

• If the authorized dealership charges you for repairswhich you feel should be covered under yourwarranty, please get a detailed receipt for the workdone. Make sure that this receipt lists all warrantyrepairs and parts that were involved. (This receiptwill be similar to the one used by the dealer whonormally services your truck.)• When your truck returns to the United States,contact the DaimlerChrysler Customer AssistanceCenter (section 7.2) for reimbursement consider-ation. You will normally need to provide a copy ofthe receipt, your truck registration and any other rel-evant documents.• Reimbursement will not be considered if thetruck does not return to the United States.

D. If You Move:If you move to another country, be sure to contactthe DaimlerChrysler Customer Assistance Center(section 7.2) and the customs department of thedestination country before you move. Vehicleimportation rules vary considerably from country tocountry. You may be required to present documen-tation of your move to DaimlerChrysler in order tocontinue your warranty coverage. You may also berequired to obtain documentation fromDaimlerChrysler in order to register your truck inyour new country.

6.2 Emergency Warranty RepairsIf you have an emergency and have to get a war-ranty repair made by someone other than anauthorized Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer, follow thereimbursement procedure in 6.1(C).

6.3 Getting Service Under the FederalEmission Performance Warranties

A. What to DoIf your truck has failed an emissions testdescribed in 5.2:

• Take it to an authorized Chrysler, Dodgeor Jeep dealer as soon as possible.

• Give the service representative the printoutshowing that your truck failed the test.

• If possible, bring all service receipts,maintenance logs, and records proving thatyour truck has been properly maintained,since you may be required to show them.

B. Further Steps You Can Take, and How toGet More InformationIf you think your dealer has wrongly denied youemission-warranty coverage, follow the steps de-scribed in 7.1. DaimlerChrysler will reply to you inwriting within 30 days after receiving your complaint(or within the time limit required by local or state law).If the owner is not notified within 30 days that aperformance warranty claim is denied, the manufac-turer must repair the truck free of charge.

6.4 Getting Service Under the CaliforniaEmission Warranty

What to Do If You Fail a Smog CheckIf a truck fails a state Smog Check test during thecoverage period, DaimlerChrysler will repair thetruck so that it will pass a State Smog Check re-test.The owner should take the truck to any authorizedChrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer for warranty repairsand give a copy of the failed Smog Check testreport to the dealer. If the owner is not notifiedwithin 30 days that a performance warranty claim isdenied, the manufacturer must repair the truck freeof charge.

B. What to Do to Get Warranty ServiceTo get warranty service -- even if you're traveling --take your truck to any Chrysler, Dodge or Jeepdealer. (DaimlerChrysler recommends that you takeyour truck to a dealer who sells the same make oftruck as yours.) That dealer will perform anywarranty service without charging you for diagno-sis, parts or labor.

C. Emergency Emission Warranty ServiceIf you need emergency service under this warrantyand a Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer is not readilyavailable, you may have your truck repaired byanyone using any brand of repair parts. However,DaimlerChrysler Corporation recommends that youdo the following before having repairs made:

• Contact the DaimlerChrysler Customer Center andask for help with emission warranty service. (You'llfind the address and telephone number of theCustomer Center at 7.2.)

• The Customer Center will recommend anauthorized servicing dealer or help you find aqualified independent servicing dealer.

• If you are going to have to use an independentservicing dealer, make arrangements during yourfirst contact with the Customer Center for gettingreimbursed for emergency repairs (includinglabor and diagnosis). You will need to get and keepthe replaced parts, as well as the original invoicemarked "paid".

• You should review with the Customer Center anyquestions you have about the emission warranty.

Reimbursement for parts will be based onDaimlerChrysler's suggested retail price. Reim-bursement for labor will be based onDaimlerChrysler's recommended time allowance forthe repair and on the appropriate hourly labor rate inthe geographic area where you had the work done.

Before DaimlerChrysler will reimburse you foremergency repairs under this warranty, you willhave to provide DaimlerChrysler with details onwhy the situation was an emergency and why dealerservice was unavailable. Under this warranty, anemergency occurs if a part will not be availablewithin 30 days or if a repair can't be completedwithin 30 days.

7. How to Deal with WarrantyProblems

7.1 Steps to Take

A. In GeneralNormally, warranty problems can be resolved byyour dealer’s sales or service departments. That’swhy you should always talk to your dealer’sservice manager or sales manager first. But ifyou’re not satisfied with your dealer’s response toyour problem, DaimlerChrysler Motors CompanyLLC ("DaimlerChrysler") recommends that you dothe following:

Step 1: Discuss your problem with the owner orgeneral manager of the dealership.

Step 2: If your dealership still can’t resolve theproblem, contact the DaimlerChrysler CustomerCenter. You’ll find the address at 7.2.

B. What DaimlerChrysler Corporation Will DoOnce you have followed the two steps described in7.1(A), a DaimlerChrysler representative atDaimlerChrysler headquarters will review yoursituation. If it’s something that DaimlerChrysler canhelp you with, DaimlerChrysler will provide yourdealer with all the information and assistance neces-sary to resolve the problem. Even if DaimlerChryslercan’t help you, DaimlerChrysler will acknowledge yourcontact and explain DaimlerChrysler's position.

C. If Your Problem Still Isn’t Resolved ForCustomers Residing in Arkansas, Idaho,Kentucky and Minnesota ONLY:If you can’t resolve your warranty problem afterfollowing the two steps described in 7.1(A), and youlive in Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky or MinnesotaONLY, you can contact the DaimlerChrysler MotorsCompany LLC Customer Arbitration Process in yourarea.

The Process is not available for residents of otherstates. You may obtain a brochure describingDaimlerChrysler Motors Company LLC's CustomerArbitration Process, including an application, bycalling 1-800-992-1997. This service is strictlyvoluntary, and you may submit your dispute directlyto the Customer Arbitration Process (CAP) at nocost. The CAP is administered by an independentdispute settlement organization and may be con-tacted in writing at the following address:

The CAP reviews only truck disputes involvingDaimlerChrysler Motors Company LLC("DaimlerChrysler") Limited Warranty or aDaimlerChrysler Mopar Part Limited Warranty on aDaimlerChrysler Corporation truck. The CAP does notreview disputes involving the sale of a new or usedtruck, personal injury/property damage claims,disputes relating to design of the truck or part, ordisputes which are already the subject of litigation.

The CAP will need the following information fromyou: 1) Legible copies of all documents and repair

orders relevant to your case, 2) Truck identificationnumber of your truck, 3) A brief description of yourunresolved concern, 4) The identity of your servicing/selling dealer, 5) The date(s) of repair(s) and mileage at thetime, 6) Current mileage, and 7) A description of the actionyou expect to resolve your concern.

Upon receipt of your request:• The National Center for Dispute Settlement (NCDS) willacknowledge receipt of your request, by mail, within ten(10) days, and advise you whether or not your dispute iswithin the jurisdiction of the Process.• When your request is within jurisdiction NCDS willrequest DaimlerChrysler and the dealer to present theirside of the dispute. You will receive copies of theirresponses.• While your dispute is pending NCDS or DaimlerChryslermay contact you to see if your case can be settled by

agreement. If a settlement is offered to you,DaimlerChrysler will ask you to sign a form thatcontains that settlement. Your case will then beclosed. There is no requirement for you to participatein this settlement process.• If you requested an oral hearing, a decision-makerwill contact you to arrange a convenient time and placefor a hearing. Usually, this will be at a dealership nearyou.• If you request a documents-only review, an NCDSpanel will review and decide your case. Neither you,the dealer nor DaimlerChrysler need be present.• NCDS will send you a written Statement of Decision.This statement will include the decision, any action tobe taken by the dealer or DaimlerChrysler and the timeby which the action must be taken. The decision willbe binding on the dealer and DaimlerChrysler but noton you unless you accept the decision.

• If any action is required on the part of the dealer orDaimlerChrysler you will be contacted within ten (10)days after the date by which the dealer orDaimlerChrysler must act to determine whether perfor-mance has been rendered.• The entire dispute settlement process will normallytake no longer than 40 days.• The CAP dispute settlement procedure does not takethe place of any state or Federal legal remedies availableto you.Whether or not you decide to submit your dis-pute to the Process, you are free to pursue other legalremedies.

D. Notice Under State Lemon LawsSome states have laws allowing you to get a replace-ment truck or a refund of the truck’s purchase priceunder certain circumstances. These laws vary from stateto state. If your state law allows, DaimlerChrysler

requires that you first notify us in writing of anyservice difficulty that you may have experiencedso that we can have a chance to make any neededrepairs before you are eligible for remediesprovided by these laws.

In all other states, we ask that you give uswritten notice of any service difficulty. Send yourwritten notice to the DaimlerChrysler CustomerCenter at the address in 7.2.

MAINTENANCE

9.Maintenance

9.1 General InformationIt’s your responsibility to properly maintain andoperate your new truck. Follow the instructionscontained in the General and Scheduled MaintenanceService guidelines in your Owner’s Manual. Regular,scheduled maintenance is essential to trouble-freeoperation. If there is a dispute between you andDaimlerChrysler Motors Company LLC("DaimlerChrysler") concerning your maintenance ofyour truck, DaimlerChrysler will require you toprovide proof that your vehicle was properly main-tained.

For your convenience, DaimlerChrysler has pre-pared a Maintenance Logbook which is included inyour Owner's Literature Package. You should use thisMaintenance Logbook to keep track of scheduledmaintenance, either by routinely having the repairsentered in your Maintenance Logbook, or by keepingreceipts or other documentation of work you’ve haddone on your truck in your Maintenance Logbook.

9.2 Where to Go For MaintenanceDaimlerChrysler recommends that youreturn to the dealer from whom you bought yourtruck for all maintenance service both during andafter the warranty periods. Although you can getwarranty service from any dealer who sells yourparticular make, returning to your selling dealer willhelp ensure that all your service needs are met andthat you're completely satisfied. The dealershiptechnicians are specifically trained to proficientlyperform maintenance and repair procedures on yourDaimlerChrysler Corporation truck.

Authorized Dodge dealers will help ensure that allyour service needs are met and that you’re completelysatisfied.

DaimlerChrysler stronglyrecommends you usegenuine DaimlerChrysler / MOPAR parts to maintainyour truck.
