If you would like to book your child/children in for this event so you can get some Christmas Shopping done or meet up with friends for a coffee, please complete the form attached to this newsletter. There will be a movie for the children to watch as well.
Alice in Wonderland Actors are well rehearsed, class items are polished, costumes are made, make up artists are waiting in the wings, and cameras, lighting and sound are ready for the biggest event on our school calendar year! Children will be rehearsing at Waikowhai Intermediate throughout this week in preparation for our 3 performances on Wednesday/Thursday night and Friday morning. All tickets for the evening performances are sold out and there are only 70 tickets left for the Matinee on Friday morning (11am start).
Reminder: • All of the senior school cast need to be at Waikowhai
Intermediate School by 6pm on both nights • Children in Rooms 1,3,4,5,6,10 and 11 will need to be at the
Intermediate by 6.30pm. Please take your child to the entrance and a staff member will then take your child to the correct area.
• Doors will not open for ticket holders until 6.45pm.
Hat Reminder All children must wear a navy blue hat in Term 4 and Term 1. Bucket hats and caps can be purchased from the school office. Caps are $10 and bucket hats are $6.
Athletics Day 10th November
Our school Athletics Day will be held next Thursday 10th November. Please come along to support your children. Further information will go home in a notice later this week. Children will need to wear ‘House’ colours on the day: Pukeko – Green Tui - Yellow Kea – Red Ruru – Blue
Our FoTS team will be running a tea/coffee and cake stall on the day.
Class Photos A reminder that these will take place next Monday 7th November. Every child was given a prepaid photo envelope to take home last week. Orders will only be processed if money is returned by Monday morning. If you would like a sibling photo taken please see Kara in the school office. The sibling pack costs $30 for 12 items.
Strategic Planning Survey Thank you everyone for the great response to our Strategic Planning Survey. 123 families completed the survey.

POSTCARDS… Teachers send postcards to children’s homes when they notice something extra special that a child has done, either in the classroom or in the playground. Congratulations to the following children who were sent postcards in the last couple of weeks: Madeleine Drummond, Anna Baird, Daiki Phillip, Josef Kupu, Aidan Morrison, Mekilini Tupou, Tipiloma Aloua, Amie Mao and Sadie Caffrey.
Production DVDs
A professional recording company, Adroit Multi Media, has agreed to film our production at a heavily reduced cost. DVDs of Alice in Wonderland will be available to purchase for $20 each, which will cover our expenses. If you would like to order a DVD, please complete the attached notice. DVDs must be paid for by Monday 14th November. Orders will only be processed if money is returned.
Staff News A number of key staff will be leaving us at the end of this term. All of these people have done a fantastic job and will be greatly missed! Mrs Joanne Price – Mrs Price’s family is returning to Australia to live Mrs Kara Nagle – Kara and her family are moving out of Auckland and closer to the beach. Mr Alistair Williamson – Alistair is retiring and moving out of Auckland. Ms Lynair Bergman, our school social worker – Lynair and her family are moving out of Auckland. Miss Abby Moimoi, our school health nurse – Abby is getting married in January and moving to Tauranga. We wish all of these wonderful people the best in their new ventures. We would also like to welcome Ms Treena Brand who will be joining our teaching staff in 2017.
COMMUNITY NOTICES
Active Families Active Families is a free physical activity programme run afterschool on Thursdays from 4.30pm-5.30pm at Roskill Youth Zone. The time is spent with children playing supervised sport while parents are learning more about meal planning, healthy breakfasts and lifestyle changes that can be made for the whole family. There are also joint cooking sessions which are interactive and fun! Anyone between the ages of 5 – 12 can join the programme. Please contact Alannah on (09) 623 7986 to register. Location: 740 Sandringham Road Extension.
Bollywood and Bhangra Dance Classes
Our intention is to teach our dance students Bollywood and Bhangra style dance in a safe and structured environment. We are passionate dancers and would like to take our students to platforms across NZ to perform on various stages.
Bollywood and Bhangra Dance Classes are each Sunday at Cityside Dance Studio, 111a May Road, Mt Roskill. Ages 5-‐8: Class 2-‐3pm Ages 9-‐12: Class 3-‐4pm Open to both boys and girls -‐ No previous experience required
