Where to from here for the global, national and WA economies? As commodity prices continue to fall faster and further than the Australian dollar, the WA economy faces significant challenges now that the construction phase of the resources boom is well past.

The housing cycle is taking up much of the slack, but it will run out of steam later this year, so what will replace it? It won’t be another boom in construction of new iron ore mines, that’s for sure. And if the oil price stays low, it won’t be a new wave of mega LNG projects, either.

But if the Australian dollar falls further, tourism, education and the rural sector will all do much better than they did when the currency was worth more than one US dollar in the early part of the decade.

That won’t be enough to fill all of the void left by the end of the mining boom, but hopefully growth in the WA economy will be more durable than it was when one or two big industries ruled the roost.

Organising planning days to engage and motivate your staffThis one-hour presentation will demonstrate the importance of conducting Planning Days at SME organizations for the ongoing engagement of their staff and key stakeholders as well as ensuring individuals’ goals are aligned with the organisational objectives. The session presents the components of a dynamic planning day and the benefits of allocating time to hold planning sessions resulting in tangible outcomes and goals set for a team to execute in the year to come.

Strategies and tips for successful cashflow budgetingMany a profitable business has failed because of poor cash flow budgeting. This session will provide an overview of the benefits of cashflow budgeting including how this differs from traditional profit and loss budgeting. We will look at some tips on how to best develop a cashflow budget and how to use them as a tool assist in managing your business. This session will be practical in focus and is aimed both at small businesses and advisors looking to assist their clients in cashflow budgeting.

Legal Health Check for Small BusinessBroadly covering Assets you own, Assets you control, Private relationships and Business relationships. We often see individuals and business suffer, or not grow to their full potential, because the legal health of the individual or business is inadequate.

The legal health check is simply just like a medical health check for people. Just like your personal health, the early diagnosis of any legal issues you or your business may experience is important. However, preventing those adverse issues from arising, or properly identifying/implementing the corset ones in the first place will always lead to a better outcome.

The Little Known Secret To Easily Being More Productive• Modern office productivity is on the decline. Discover

the two greatest threats to productivity and how to overcome them.

• Experience for yourself the reasons why you will never want to multi-task again.

• Discover what you can do to block out workplace distractions.

• The key to staying focused when you really need to.

Commercial property outside the CBD – essential information for SMEs and their advisorsCommercial property can deliver great financial benefits for small business owners and investors alike.

When it comes to acquiring commercial property, though, the challenge for SMEs and investors is that most information and advice is focused on large, premium properties in Perth CBD (such as those owned by large institutions and superannuation funds). This data does not offer SMEs and investors a realistic picture of their segment of the market and so many property buyers enter the transaction with incomplete or incorrect information. This knowledge gap can be very costly as buyers can typically find themselves disappointed with their return on investment or worse, in financial ruin.
