volunteer Check-inVolunteers, other than player registration, volunteer caddies, security and medical personnel, will need to check in at Volunteer Headquarters, located in a tent located on the club’s Great Lawn, prior to reporting to their shift location.

Player registration, volunteer caddies, security and medical personnel may report directly to their post or designated check-in.

We would appreciate if volunteers would check in approximately 30 minutes before their shift’s starting time. Volunteers will need to allow approximately 15 additional minutes for the shuttle ride from the General Parking Lot located at Glen Cove High School, 150 Dosoris Lane, Glen Cove, NY 11542. The 30-minute lead time will allow volunteers to dine in the Volunteer HQ before their shift, collect any required equipment and report to the shift location.

remindersPlease check the weather forecast in advance of your shift and prepare accordingly. Remember to wear sunscreen, championship headwear and sunglasses. Also remember to bring rain gear for days when inclement weather is anticipated.

Volunteers who are working in stationary positions on the golf course may bring small armless chairs/umbrella stools to utilize during their shift. Please note that lawn chairs or folding chairs with arms are prohibited on the championship grounds.

While complimentary water will be available to championship volunteers, please bring a water bottle, if you feel you will need it during your shift. Your volunteer package includes a logoed water bottle.

on-Course volunteer transportation

While the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship is accessible to disabled attendees, volunteers will not be allowed to take the disabled scooter carts on to the course during their shifts.

On-course volunteers are required to walk to their posts, with the farthest sections of the golf course a reasonable 10-minute walk on relatively flat terrain. We appreciate your support of this policy. If you feel that you will need additional time to report to your shift location on course, please check in more than 30 minutes prior to your shift time.

You are required to wear your own pants, shorts or skorts in light-khaki with your uniform shirt when you are working in an official capacity, as it will identify you as a championship volunteer.

If you choose to wear headwear during your volunteer shift, we do request that it is a cap, visor or bucket hat provided with the volunteer uniform.

If your uniform shirt does not fit and you need a different size, please call 516.316.5014. We will do our best to exchange it for the proper size. However, we cannot guarantee that extra shirts will be available.

CredentialsVolunteers will be required to wear their volunteer credential when they are working in an official capacity, in order to identify themselves as championship volunteers. The credential will also allow the volunteer to access the proper areas around the championship grounds and the clubhouse, and is required to dine in the Volunteer HQ tent.

Specific championship credentials will also identify U.S. Women’s Amateur players, USGA representatives, Championship Committee members, Nassau Country Club staff, etc.

Please note that general spectators will NOT be identified by any type of ticket or credential.

The Championship Committee would like to sincerely thank North Shore LIJ Health System for providing medical support for the championship by equipping and staffing the Medical Headquarters. Physical therapy services will be provided to players only by SoundSide Physical Therapy.

The USGA has a meteorologist on site monitoring the possibility of inclement weather. If inclement weather is approaching, special weather warning signs will be posted around the championship grounds and near the scoreboard. The warning will also be communicated to volunteers for dissemination to spectators.

Upon warning, spectators are advised to take immediate precautions PRIOR to play being suspended. In the event of a weather warning, please avoid open areas, hilltops, high places, isolated trees, tall objects, golf carts, metal objects, and wire fences.

If play is suspended for a dangerous situation, which will be indicated by one prolonged air-horn blast, spectators should close their umbrellas and seek shelter or return to their cars until play resumes. A limited number of inclement weather shelters, which will be open to spectators, are located throughout the golf course, as identified on the Groupings and Starting Times sheet.

Upon suspension, volunteers assigned as walking scorers and standard bearers will be directed to stay with their grouping or pairing, and will have a different suspension and evacuation procedure than general volunteers, who should return to the Volunteer HQ, where they will wait until play resumes.

Spectators are permitted to carry mobile devices (i.e., cell phones, smartphones) at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship and use them for limited purposes on the championship grounds, subject to the following restrictions: · All device volume controls must be set to “silent” or “vibrate” at all times.· Phone calls cannot be received or placed in any area that may disrupt play. · Photographs may ONLY be taken during practice rounds (Saturday-Sunday) and are only for non-commercial use. · Video and audio recording are not permitted at any time during championship week.· Texting, email and the use of mobile applications are permissible throughout all areas of the golf course but use should NOT disrupt players.

Violation of the above policy may result in immediate expulsion and loss of spectator privileges for the remainder of the championship. Volunteers are asked to avoid using mobile devices during a shift except in the case of an emergency. Players, USGA officials and staff members, Championship Committee members, and Nassau Country Club staff are permitted to carry mobile devices and use them, as needed, throughout the championship grounds.

Cell phone policy enforcementmarshalsMarshals will be the first line of enforcement. Throughout training sessions, the USGA or host club will inform marshals on the overall policy and encourage them to be proactive when dealing with spectators. For example: Marshals on the tees can make announcements to spectators prior to players arriving at the tee. If a marshal sees a spectator using a mobile device in violation of the policy, he/she can determine if this is a minor or major infraction. Minor infractionIf an individual violates the mobile device policy but does not actually disrupt play, the marshal should address that individual and ask that they immediately stop using the mobile device. Assuming the individual listens to the marshal instructions, no further action is warranted.

Major InfractionIf an individual violates the mobile device policy and that action disrupts play or the individual is confrontational about any warning, this will be deemed a major infraction. The marshal should address that individual and ask that they immediately stop using the mobile device. The marshal should also immediately call the marshal leadership for support.

The USGA does not want any marshals to get into a confrontation with spectators regarding this policy. If spectators do not follow marshal instructions, marshals should call the marshal leadership for support.
