many thanks to the Dewey Lake Fish and Game club and members for hosting and supporting our team’s Thursday night practice sessions. All those involved in continuing our club’s shooting program this year - from team members, coordinator’s, coaches and supporters that stepped up when needed have truly been a blessing to our young people. Your efforts have been invaluable in “Making the Best Better”.

Johnson County 4-H is up and running! During the months of August and Sep-tember, each elementary school in the County and City School systems held organizational meetings. During these meetings teachers and leaders were given officer nomination packets and club members received 4-H project order booklets. In mid Septem-

ber, elected club officers attended trainings for their respective offices of Presi-dent, Vice-President, Sec-retary and Reporter. In October, schools begin to have monthly, officer lead 4-H club meetings. For the October agenda, clubs are gathering ideas for club names and are in discussion about choosing a commu-nity service project. All 4-

H clubs perform commu-nity service projects in an effort to help teach our young people the value of giving back to others and our community. The 4-H Slogan is “Learning by Doing” so, if you have a community service idea or need, please contact Dianna Reed at the Johnson County Extension Office 789-8108.

FOODS and Nutrition

Do you like to cook? Do you find yourself watching shows like ‘Cupcake Wars”, “Chopped” and “Top Chef”? If so, take the time to consider this opportunity! It is time to start prepar-ing for the second year of the 4-H Cooking show “CloverKitchen”. Last year’s guest chefs were invited from local high school and elementary schools to put together 6 TV show segments of fabulous foods. They practiced their kitchen skills and dem-

onstrated to viewers how easy it is to make delicious and nutritious snacks and main dishes from our 4-H Cooking Curriculum titled “Microwave Magic”. This year we will continue where we left off and share more recipes with our culi-nary viewers. If you are enjoy cook-ing and would like to sign-up as a guest chef, please contact Dianna Reed 789-8108.
