The year started with some salient points taken from Pedoman 2013 which will be recalibrated and reintroduced to the company so as to be in-lined with JCorp’s strategic objectives and goals. 2013 will also witness a revamp structure of Damansara Realty Berhad and its subsidiary companies in conducting the business.

On home front the repositioning of MPM overseas’ entities will also be of utmost important to MPM future direction. At the same time MPM will also need to accommodate to the new way of carrying out the daily business and operations with the emphasis being placed by DBhd on the group to embark on a complete package of services provided.

The on-going HR intervention will also be the much-talked and anticipated event by the staff. The realignment of the salary band and compensation and benets is no-miss news by all stakeholders in the group. The new Minimum Retirement Age Act 2012 was gazetted on 16th. August 2012 and will come into force on 1st. July 2013. The company has acquired the Board’s approval to amend the terms and conditions of service on “Retirement Age” from 55 years to 60 years with effect from 1st. January 2013.

2013 will obviously see greater challenges to the company which can be anticipated from the overseas entities, right stafng, funding for equipment replacement and new sites, legal issues and embracing a new structure in conducting the group businesses.

As MPM has encountered previously these trivial matters we will not shy away from facing it head-on. The wealth of experience and knowledge gathered over the years will ensure the survival of the company come what may. We hope that everyone will play their roles in ensuring the continuous success of the company.

Welcome 2013!!!

NOTE FROMTHE GROUPGENERALMANAGER

Hj Ab Rashid Bukhairah

The year started with the auditing of our accounts in determining the true sense of our 2012 achievements. Johor Corporation Berhad organized a “Pedoman 2013” for the whole group. It was held at PERSADA on 21st. January 2013. It was lled with nancial performance of the group, the way forward, appointment of key personnel, gratitude to corporate gures who will be retiring and the much-awaited keynote address by the President/CEO of Johor Corporation Berhad.

The restructuring of the Group will continue into 2013. The introduction of a new ERP system starting with TMR Urusharta and to be followed with MPM will chart the beginning of a holistic check and control within the Group. Not forgetting the HR intervention exercise on new salary scale, compensation & benets, realigning of manpower, core competency model and training & development will be closely monitored by all employees and fully anticipated on the outcome. Nonetheless adopting any of the recommendation made by the Consultant will need a full blessing of the Steering Committee.

Going into MPM’s front the company is taking a review of its overseas branches. With expected growth from MP India and MP Philippine there is a need to source for fund. It is imperative that MPM have an alternative source of fund to support the growth anticipated from these two branches and not to omit the expected growth in Malaysia. All in all we would need a bottomless pocket in increasing our market shares within the Group respective markets.

MPHK is still in the red with a dismal performance shown in 2012. The top management of the Group will need to re-assess the future of MPHK. Options whether to quit and exit looks more favourable for the time being but it must be thoroughly scrutinised since we might be coming back in the future. Operating on a small scale after eliminating all the losses might be a good option to take. The Group may need to appoint someone with sound business acumen plus high commitment level to spearhead the entity. Applying prudent management and instilling fresh values and work ethics might work wonderfully for this entity.

MP Singapore and MP Brunei recorded monotonous achievement unless a different business model can be coined up in bolstering the growth. The top management is currently deliberating on a few options for both entities to continue their growth in the respective countries. The option is not exhausted on changing of guards but also looking into strategic alliances with new partners and even VC. It is critical for the Group to register commendable growth in all the countries that it is operating. Being a market leader only in own country is not the yardstick for MPM but we need it be emulated everywhere we goes.

That is a lot of things that we still need to do and it denitely require an all-round effort from CSA right to our top management and board members. As a cohesive unit we will ensure to ride over any storms and giant waves in our unending journey to the desired destination. Let us all play our crucial roles as entrusted by the company via the appointment letters and job descriptions assigned to you. Coupled with determination, commitment and honesty I have not a single doubt that MPM will override any obstacles be it operationally or even our latest competitor!!!

May Allah bless us and gives us His Guidance in our journey, In Shaa Allah. All the best Metromites!
