Salutations Division 17!
I hope you all had wonderful Thanksgivings filled with gratitude and lots of food! A lot has happened this past month, and I believe it’s a good time to reflect on the things we have accomplished, such as raising $415 for the Eliminate Project through our Eliminathon Volleyball Tournament! Thank you to EVERYONE who contributed and participated!
It will be a little late, but I would like to express my gratitude to all of you who worked so hard this service year in a celebratory Divisional Awards Dinner. It will be a social event, and I will do my best to make sure the admission fee isn’t a ridiculous price, but it definitely pays to be classy. More information and details will be discussed at the next Divisional Council Meeting on December 13th.
We’re a little past halfway through the service year, and I’ve noticed some incomplete CMRFs. Club Secretaries, plus take a look at the CMRF page of the newsletter to learn how to fill out the report form to completion. I will be ex-pecting one on December 10! Speaking of the end approaching, the time to elect the next Lt. Governor will be hap-pening January 10th. I encourage underclassmen officers to run for this position, and I encourage all of you to rec-ommend it to your general members. If you or they have any questions about what this position entails specifically, please contact me in any shape or form.
Club Treasurers, please do not forget that dues are due TOMORROW. If you have yet to submit the minimum re-quirement, please do so by tomorrow!
I hope to see you all soon! Stay warm and stay safe!
Yours in caring and service,
Like

Dues Report. CHECK THE WEBSITE.
Many of you have left these spaces blank for quite some time. Please check that website to see how many dues paid members your club has! Communicate with your treasurer to find out when was the last time you submitted dues. The Membership Update Center, or MUC, updates every Wednesday. If you don’t know the membership status from last service year, that’s okay, but I expect the rest of the spaces to be filled from now on.
A lot of you have been really good with this section! The only thing you really need to watch out for are the special events and Divisional/District contacts. Please keep track of the newsletters that I send you! (you should be reading them anyways). In regards to special events, only mark it if an event happened on the desig-nated month and someone attended!
I have seen the most mistakes and incompletes on this part of the CMRF. Please be sure to mark what type of project it was: service, fund-raising, etc. At the bottom, put down the total count; the total number of each event held. If you didn’t hold a Major Emphasis event, you do not need to put a 0 on the bottom. Total Hours is calculated by # of members involved multiplied the # of hours the event was. If it was a fundraising project, please make sure you put in the amount of money raised! I hope this helped!
Editors, are you publishing newsletters?
Please make sure everything necessary is filled out completely

All Service men and women are extraordinary for risking their lives for our freedom. Some give the ulti-mate sacrifice but the sacrifice taken by survivors is not a light one. Many service men and woman suffer from serious physical injuries, PTSD, and more upon returning home. The Wounded Warrior raises awareness and enlists the public's aid for the needs of injured service members. This organization helps injured service members aid and assists each other and provides unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members. As of the beginning of November, this organization had helped 59,710 service members and 8,482 family members.
What can my club do to help those who help protect my freedom? The Wounded Warrior Project is al-ways accepting donations. Set aside money in your clubs budget or hold a fundraiser that tends to be successful for your club. The Wounded Warrior Project runs 8k runs but there are sadly none in our area. Sponsorships are always appreciated towards these events though. If you have any questions regard-ing The Wounded Warrior Project please contact your lieutenant governor or visit http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/.

I know a lot of you are into athletic events, and this is a great project for those of you who connect with the cause personally. If you or anyone in your club has had a loved one fight in the army, and didn’t come back in one piece, try to see if there is any way you can participate in this project! If you need any help, please do not hesitate to contact me, and like the many soldiers who dedicated their lives for us, I will do my best to serve you! :)

P6 Eliminathon Shin it Like
The Eliminathon -- a district wide volleyball tournament -- was an incredible event! From the various foods, such as the Ice Cream and baked goods, to the intense, action-paced volleyball games, the event was ultimately a huge success. Key Club members throughout Division 16 and 17 gathered at Tenafly High School to raise money for the Eliminate Project while addition-ally having a great time together. For those who had a "What is the Eliminate Project again?" thought, this project serves to eliminate MNT (Maternal Neo-natal Tetanus) from the earth - a disease which makes babies sensitive to light and touch which is excruciatingly painful! This deadly disease kills 60,000 innocent babies and a significant number of mothers as well. Fortunately, there is a cure but it will require $110 million in order to end this suffering. Therefore, both UNICEF and Kiwanis International have partnered up to raise money to buy vaccinations to immunize 100 million mothers and their future babies. With the help of many individuals including those who helped to organize the event and including those who participated in the competi-tion, we were able to raise a whopping $415! Not only did the event raise money for such a great cause, the event provided an interaction between stu-dents of amazingly different characteristics! In fact, the competition featured unique, talented teams including basketball players from North Bergen and a nationally ranked Israeli player from Tenafly - and as you can imagine, her team won. Regardless of the results, at the end of the day, this event was a lot of fun and was definitely worth the large hours put in by Key Club members, such as Jae Shin, who is the Lieutenant Governor of Division 17. It is nice to know that you can have an amazing time, while doing some exercise, and still help mothers and their children all around the world!

DivisionalAwards Dinner Like
About two service years ago, back when I was a Club Vice President, the LTG at the time was Christina Xiao. She held a Divisional Awards Dinner where everyone in the division, members and officers, was invited. There were gag awards, such as “sassiest officer”, and more le-gitimate sounding awards, such as “most promising”, awarded to everyone who came out to the event. Seeing as I’m hoping for a large attendance, printing out certificates for 50 people seems unlikely, especially when I don’t know a lot of your members personally or profes-sionally, I intend on awarding all of you, the club offi-cers, for working so hard this service year. The dinner will be held in January, when there is still 2-3 more months to go, so I hope that this will also be an incen-tive for all of you to continue to work hard, if not harder. To prevent confusion, this is NOT the distinguished officer award. Those are presented at District Conven-tion towards the end of March. I hope to hold this event at the Marriott in Secaucus, but it’s not going to be a pretty number on the bill, so I will need all of YOUR help. We will discuss this further at the next DCM. The date will be the same day as Lt. Governor elections, on January 10th. Time is still TBD.
It slightly pains me to say that the elections for Lieuten-ant Governor of Division 17 is creeping up rather quickly. My term as your LTG is coming to an end, but before it does, we need to elect my successor. To the underclassmen out there interested in running or who are not sure, please feel free to talk to me and ask me questions about what this position entails. I won’t sugar coat it and say it’s a walk in the park, but it will DEFINITELY be one of the MOST rewarding experi-ences of your life. To the seniors with their hands in the air like they just don’t care, it is CRUCIAL that you attend this election. I say this because the majority of the officers in division 17 are seniors. Just like how the DCM must meet quo-rum, same goes for the election. If the election does not meet quorum, the date will continuously be rescheduled until it is met, and the candidates will have to keep com-ing every time the date is changed. Please be considerate to the candidates, the election committee, and your-selves, and just attend and vote. General members are more than welcome seeing as they will be working with the LTG as well, but they will not have voting rights (they can influence an officer’s vote though). As a matter of fact, ENCOURAGE your members to come out since they should be coming out to the dinner as well!
