Tribute to Janet May YASTREB
Recently, one of Mount Druitt Public School’s great
teachers passed away. Quite simply, Mrs Janet
Yastreb was one of the finest teachers public
education has ever produced. Her days in the
classroom were characterized by a deep and profound
respect for the children, a passion for literacy and
numeracy and a love of education. She will be
missed, but remembered by over 10, 000 students she
taught while at Mount Druitt Public.

Road safety
It’s important to remind children, especially younger
ones, of the need to be vigilant when out and about.
Talk to your child about road safety and model good
behaviour yourself. For lots of good safety
reminders, Kidsafe NSW has an informative website
with a number of free brochures and fact sheets on
maintaining a safe environment for your child and
teaching them about staying safe. They are also
available in several community languages.

Garden Rescue! Wednesday April 4th 2012.
9am - 11am Morning tea provided.
Dear parents,
We need your help! Our kitchen garden has become
very over-grown after all the recent rain. There are
four garden beds that need to be weeded so we would
very much appreciate your support. We are inviting
parents to work in the garden on Wednesday April
9am - 11am. Morning tea will be provided.
Once the garden beds have been weeded, the students
can then start planting vegetables in Term 2.
Please come along and join in the fun! Garden tools
and gloves are available or bring your own!
Thank you,
Mrs Barbara Colreavy
