Dear TCP Parents,

A lthough our school year started in August, this

month marks the beginning of a new calendar year with

many promising resolutions all over the country. Tues-

day, January 25, President Barrack Obama empha-

sized that his ad-ministration is com-mitted to supporting

great , effective, and innovat ive teaching because the future of our

nation lies in the hands of our chil-dren. We, the edu-

cators, in collabora-tion with you, hold the magnanimous

responsibility of supplying them with the tools and

knowledge they

need to achieve

their career aspira-

tion and to fulfill and create new

jobs.

We are commit-ted and fine tuning

our excellent edu-cational program to meet the educa-

tional needs of all our students. We have always been

on the path of rac-ing to the top for years. Now, a

coined phrase for the new national educational focus,

“”Racing to the Top,” replaces the “ No Child Left Be-

hind “ mandate.

With the “Racing to the Top” Grant comes new monies

ear-marked for

education.

We will be imple-menting an after-

school tutoring program primarily for third through

sixth grade stu-dents identified as needing a little ex-

tra help to ensure all students do their very best on the

“State Achieve-

ment Test.”

It is my hope that

you allow your child, if given the invitation, to par-

ticipate in the tutor-ing program with serious intent on

knowledge and skill acquisition. The race to the top

will not be over for your child until he/she graduates

from college or masters a skill or trade making

them a viable par-ticipant in the

global job market.

God‟s love, the spirit of Christ-mas, and the greatest gift to man dwells in our hearts not only in

December but throughout the year.

Teachers and students mounted a

moving Christmas Program.

The inclement weather on the scheduled program date in Decem-ber, 2010 resulted to the reschedul-ing of the affair on the 26th of Janu-

ary, 2011. From the Woodward Career Tech at Reading Road, the original venue of the Holiday Pro-gram, the stakeholders of TCP World Academy had to enjoy the presentations at the TCP Audito-

rium.

Students endeavored to give their best during the performances while teachers were all agog trying to make sure that everything turned

out perfectly well.

Everybody was thrilled and had placed the date to oblivion during the presentation. The songs and

dances staged by the students enli-vened the spirit of Christmas that should stay in our hearts every mo-ment of the day and every day of

every year.

Teachers and Staff Christmas Party

A staff that prays and plays to-gether stay together. Our commit-ted staff provides a topnotch edu-

cational program for our children.

We all remain ‟kids-at-heart.”

On the night of the Staff Christ-

mas Party in December, 2011, the cold and drizzly milieu did not halt the staff to arrive with smiles and

cheers at the garden rendezvous.

It was a family affair as most

staff came with someone to share

the moment. The sumptuous din-

ner filled everybody to the brim

and sweets washed the tiresome

year behind them.

The party‟s climax was the

awarding of monetary incentives

earned by the staff for maintain-

ing an excellent educational

rating last year. It was fol-

lowed by a brief ‟gratitude‟

program prepared by the staff

for the beloved Superinten-

dent/Principal Karen Y.

French.

All night dancing culmi-

nated the event.

Cincinnati Police santa

The District 2 Cincinnati Police Division brought Christ-

mas cheers to the students of TCP World Academy during Santa Claus‟s Gift-Giving. Santa truly knows „who‟s naughty

or nice‟ when the children enthusiastically received their

goodies from Santa himself

This activity allows the children to see the policemen in a

different light. They ( policemen ) love the children like we

do.

Community REACH-OUT

The Trauma Unit of the University of Cincinnati Hospital

spearheaded by Dr. Rich Branson, a community volunteer, Ms. Joyce Elkus, and TCP‟s very own, Ms. Ingrid Smith,

also, brought joys to many families with the clothes and

toys.

TCP World Academy is truly blessed to have so many

partners who embrace our students with much generosity and

care.

Page 4: Volume 1 issue 2 New Year Message January-February, … · month marks the beginning of a new ... Nutrition, Fitness, Self-Esteem, and Sustainability ( living green ).” ... The

TCP Student Bags 1st Place

Once again, TCP World Academy proved itself worthy of being an Excellent School. By this we

mean not only academically.

Our very own six-year old Makyra Kahr, a first

grader from Ms Julie Brown‟s class, participated in the Cincinnati Gymnastics Competition. The first round of

the competition was joined by, at least, twenty-six

children from all over the city. Makyra remembered

competing with children her age and older during the

events where her winning streak placed her first.

In the second round held at Columbus, Ohio, she

placed 3rd on vault, 5th on bars, 3rd on beam, 3rd on

floor, and 4th Over-all.

On the first weekend of February, 2011, Makyra is

going on the next level, the Gymnastics Championship

to be held at Cleveland, Ohio.

With her expertise harnessed in a little over a year now, she will definitely go places with her tapped

natural talent. Of the many gymnastic skills she

shows, she likes the vault and bars best. Cheers, Ma-

kyra!

In this computer age, education

uses innovations in science and tech-

nology as tools to make them adept in

the pace of development and maxi-

mize student learning.

Clever Crazes for Kids Founder and

CEO Dianne Dunkelman made edu-

cational technology possible by having

the website www.clevercrazes.com

created. The website introduces

Clever Crazes for Kids as “a Web-

based STEM ( Science, Technology,

Engineering and Mathematics ) fo-

cused program for children, grades K-

8, that uses animation, competitive

games, valuable information and edu-

cational challenges and helps students

increase daily physical activity, adopt

healthy eating habits, maintain posi-

tive self-esteem and strong character

and develop environmentally friendly

habits. CCK is all about „edu-

tainment‟ and uses animated charac-

ters to model behaviors essential to

healthy physical, mental and character

development. A series of games and

educational challenges enable students

to learn while competing with each

other in four themed environments:

Nutrition, Fitness, Self-Esteem, and

Sustainability ( living green ).”

Every week, two (2 )schools can win

$500 and ten (10 ) more kids can win

iTunes Gift Cards. Every month, 100

pairs of Nikes and 100 $10 iTunes Gift

are awarded to the winning kids. 100

$10 iTunes Gift Cards are, also,

awarded to adults registering winning

kids.

TCP World Academy luckily has its

Superintendent / Principal Karen Y.

French sitting as one of the fifteen-body

Professional Advisory Committee of

Clever Crazes for Kids. The Superin-

tendent/Principal, together with Health

and Wellness Teacher Mr. Deon

Shields encourage the utility of the

website during the students‟ specials

and for them to access it outside of

school time. The encouragement perks

the enthusiasm of the students which

resulted in the following TCP winners

The You Can Read Program is located near TCP World

Academy. The children feed into TCP World Academy

well-prepared with pre-reading and math skills. This year

they performed in our auditorium. They proved that age

doesn‟t matter‟ They came in front of a big crowd oozing

with confidence and performed with much enthusiasm.

The scripted storytelling about pine trees made into Christ-

mas trees was magnificently executed. The acrostic and the

dancing angels made the parents and relatives of these ador-

able toddlers happy.
