Several of our Greek organizations participated in the Peter Rabbit in the Park event at the Canton Pavilion on April 12, including Gamma Sigma Zeta, Beta Sigma Zeta, Kappa Zi Omega, Alpha Chi Omicron, Alpha Beta Gamma, and Upsilon Zeta Iota. Adopt A Joey!

This Fall, we’ll be welcoming hundreds of new students to campus. These new ‘Roos need your help! Please consider

volunteering for the Joey Program. As a Flyer/Boomer you have the opportunity to communicate with these Joeys over the summer to answer questions they have about coming to Campus and help them through the process.

As I said at the last Faculty Assembly, recruitment, enrollment, and retention are really all about connections. When these new

students know they have a reliable and welcoming contact on campus, they can experience that connection early and often. It is rewarding for you, too – to know that you had a role in these students’ success – not only coming to SUNY Canton, but making it to graduation.

UNY Canton hosted a Citizen Preparedness Corps training workshop for the community as part of the Governor’s Aware Prepare initiative. These workshops, offered throughout the state, help citizens understand how to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. The workshop drew hundreds of people to Roos House, including dozens of Boy Scouts, local and state elected officials, and other members of the SUNY Canton and greater North Country community. Their participation earned them a certificate and backpack stocked with emergency supplies, including a flashlight, a pocket radio, food bars, duct tape, and a first-aid kit. The workshop also highlighted SUNY Canton’s efforts, in partnership with Clarkson University, to locate the Governor’s proposed College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security, and Cyber Security right here in Canton. We offer degrees in all the right programs, and we have strong relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies operating at and around the border with Canada. We already train first responders through our EMT Training Program, and we house the

Congratulations, Stacey, Nancy, and Amanda, and Thanks to Mary Dolan, Shared Assistant Vice President for Human Resources, for her leadership of this program! We always like to recognize the excellent research conducted by our talented faculty; Dr. Kaisar Khan, Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering, has published no fewer than 11 articles in peer reviewed journals and presented 8 papers at national and international conferences. His research is frequently cited by scientists in his field. Con-gratulations on your outstanding accomplishments, Kaisar! Finally, congratulations to the Seniors in the Graphic and Multimedia Design Program, who are currently holding the Senior multimedia Exhibition. Visual works will be on display at Nevaldine Technology Center North, Room 102, and the Southworth Library Learning Commons from now until May 9. Stop by and see their outstanding work!
