Launched in 2011, the Visitor InsightsProgramme (VIP) was established to filla gap in the information available to thetourism sector and provide a leadingsource of regional-level visitorinformation in New Zealand.

As a result, subscribers have access toessential information through a robust,affordable and flexible programme ofresearch.

The programme supports a range ofmarketing-professionals and decision-makers in the New Zealand tourismsector - and is supported by theinvolvement of a number of RegionalTourism Operators (RTO's), industrygroups and individual operators.

Those involved can track awareness,understand their visitor profiles andgather market insight relative to otherregions.

Surveying more than 600 domestic andinternational visitors per month, across6+ visitor destinations in the country, theVIP provides a sample of over 7,000visitors a year - providing valuableinsights in the perceptions andexperiences of visitors and feedback onstrategic issues - such as the impact ofmajor events, or marketing campaignson awareness and visitor activity.

Running for over three years now, theVIP today sports a sample of 25,000domestic and international NewZealand travellers - this allows us toprofile results by seasonal changes andindividual market origin (for example).

Subscribing regions also have theability to benchmark against their peersto see how satisfaction & visitorbehaviour in their region compares withothers.

A series of market profiles using VIPdata are now available for purchase. These include regional marketpenetration profiles, and profiles oftravellers with specific interests.

These insights will allows RTO's, localgovernment, industry operators andother to further understand the releventmarket profile and how it is changingover time.
