Vaxjo is definitely a “bike-friendly” city considering

its size. There is not much problem biking around

unless the weather troubles you, which is the

situation of more or less the whole autumn semester. !

Luckily, we still have busses between the town and

the campus. Information about the local bus

company, their route and timetable can be found on

their official website: !

http://www.lanstrafikenkron.se/en/ !

Bus no.3 has stops at the library and around the

campus so it might be the best option for you.

Otherwise, there is also a bus stop called Teleborg

Centrum between ICA and Statoil, where you can

take bus no.1 and no.5 to town.!

Two pieces of advise when taking the bus in Vaxjo: !

Try to get a bus card at the welcome fair with a

discount.!

Always pay with bus card. And if you do not have

one, always pay with bankcard. Paying with cash

would be twice as expensive due to tax.!

*Additional advice: Adapt to the “Swedish tradition”.

Be cool and sit as far away from the next person as

you can.

Transportation

Page 16: VIS Survival Guide

You can print documents in

the library as long as you are

logged into your account on

one of the computers in the

library. A double-page printing

costs 0,65 sek, which you can

purchase with your PayEx

account. To register your

account you will need to send a copy of your passport

to PayEx along with a copy of your admission’s

notice. Check this link for more information: http://

goo.gl/t3kMRB. !

When starting a new course or programme you need

to buy course literature. You can either buy the

books in the second hand book shop

Campusbokhandeln or at the student union book

shop at Tufvan. It is also possible to buy course

literature online if you have a credit card. If you don’t

have a credit card, the student union can help you to

order the books. You can find out which book is

required for your course by looking at the course

syllabus. The website of Campusbokhandeln: http://

Health Advice: 1177!

Sjukvårdsrådgivningen is the Swedish medical care

hotline and where to call if you get sick or have any

medical problem. They consult you about what to do

and where to go. If it’s an emergency you should

instead call 112.!

The pharmacy/drugstore in Sweden is called Apotek.

You can buy your prescription and non prescription

drugs here. For medical prescriptions you will need

to contact a doctor. For students staying on campus

the closest pharmacy is situated next to Statoil.

There is also a pharmacy in Willy’s. You can also

purchase non prescription drugs supermarkets.!

For health care please contact the Campushälsan in

Vårdcentralen behind Statoil. Here you can see a

doctor, nurse or a psychiatry nurse during day time.

For appointment call 0470-58 68 68. Please leave a

message with your name and telephone number. You

can also e-mail [email protected]. They

have an open reception hour between 10 - 11 AM

Mondays and Wed - Fridays where you can come in

without an appointment to see the nurse.!

(And yes! We are now on the topic!)!

Slottsstallarna is one of the two student pubs

located on Campus. It is run by a student

association in cooperation with several others, VIS

being one of them. That means VIS will have weeks

where they are responsible to work at the pub during

the opening nights. As a member of VIS you will get

the opportunity to be a part of that and there will be

an award system, giving benefits both for you and

VIS as an association. And on the plus side you get

experience and the chance to meet new and exciting

people! More information can be found on page

"Getting involved” at www.visesn.org.!

Sivans is owned by EHVS and all the nations on

Campus. Everyone working there does it on a

voluntary basis without getting paid. Sivans offers

night club, afterschool and brunch. Beside your

student union card, you also need either a EHVS or a

nation card. For more information you can visit

www.sivans.com.
