Eisenhower Club in Deer Park was packed with; in- formation via a question and discussion evening. Giving the answers were: Legislator Syd Askoff ; Councilman Vincent Manna ; Mr. Anthony Ceaser and Club President James Me- Donagh. Mr. Manna stated that he had no information pertaining to the 500 acres of prime Pilgrim State property which is located on Deer Park land, but he did say that he would like to see much of this land used for recreation (a planned community consisting of an Industrial Park , Garden Apartments and recreation facilities for the people of Babylon). He also said that there wasn 't enough money at the present time to build a park adjacent to Deer Park pool because of the loss of the Bond Issue. There was a general discussion afterwards , about the desirability of an enclosed pool for year round use and how the people of Deer Park could obtain some. Mr. Ceaser suggested a pool for Robert Frost Jr. High School , which has ample land to hold same. Mr. McDonagh discussed what steps could be taken to ease the burden of the Senior Citizens. He asked for half-price bus fare and movie admission . He stated that most movie houses are willing to oblige the Citizens, but had mt been approached before, and fee; felt itfeit a town wide venture would fee successful . Mr. Askoff gave i further information regarding the matter. He said that the county was trying to adopt plans to help the Citizens ; but that bus rates would be dif- ficult to reduce because they are Inter- 6unty. and Tnter-ToWn , and aft would ha ve to agree to be effective. Mr. Askoff then discussed the widening of Comae Road , from Deer Park Ave. to the Expressway. He touched on the proposed new road running from Veteran ' s Highway through Deer Park (via Long Island Ave.) to Huntington , and stressed how important these roads are to those who wanted them to show where the roads would extend to. Mr. Askoff also stated that there was a new sewage bill in Congress and he had high hopes that the bill would be passed. It would allow the Federal Government to pay 60 per cent of the cost and he said that it was the bes t deal ever presented. He said that the bill is approximately one year away and that the people should investigate the bill thoroughly and get all the in- formation possible as it was to our benefit. The Eisenhower Club meetings will continue throughout the summer and the public are invited to attend.
