updated telephone number and email as we

are trialling a new assessment App that

shares children’s learning. Over the year

we will be giving parents updates of your child’s learning in the nursery.

Please be gentle as it is a new programme that we

are still learning and trialling.

WHAT IS SEESAW?For students, Seesaw helps them see their own growth

and provides an audience for their work - whether that be peers, parents, or the world

at large.

For families, Seesaw gives an immediate, personalized

window into their child’s day so they can support learning

at home.

For teachers, Seesaw saves time on organization and communication, makes

formative assessment easy, and provides a safe place to teach digital citizenship

skills.

We have gone green in our school, we received the Green Flag award

nearly 2 years ago, we want to apply for this programme again.Contact Mrs Bernie Donaldson to see how you can get involved and

consider joining our “Eco –Committee”.

School CollectionsStaff will be collecting

updated information with regard to who

Collects your child from nursery, if there is

someone NOT allowed to collect your child please let

the class teacher know. Please keep us informed of

any change of mobile numbers, as our text service will be up and

running shortly.

School Gate/Car ParkNow that most children are

Happy Birthday to those children

now in for a longer time and settled, may I remind

parents’ not to park in school car park nor open our main gate. The car

park has seen an increase of traffic , congestion and to ensure the safety of our children we need the support of our parents in this matter. If you have a disability and

need closer access to our main doors please speak to Pricipal.

who all celebrate theirBirthday in September.

Rhythm and Rhyme LanguageLanguage development is crucial to living and learning and is

concerned with more than the growth of vocabulary. Language is used to communicate with others, to share and

express feelings, to give and obtain information and to understand ideas and develop thoughts. (Curriculum

guidance for pre-school education)Listening to and joining in with rhymes are important

elements of children’s language experiences. We say them every day with children, not only is this an enjoyable activity but very important step in their language development. We will put a sheet of nursery rhymes in entrance hall , please

take one home. We hope to work with parents over the year to share our strategies to help your children to develop their language development. As part of our school development

plan, we are developing rhythm and rhymes. we will include ideas , themes and acticitives that we are working on from

month to month.

Good Shepherd Nursery have been successful in receiving funding to implement a “Big Bedtime Read” We want to work and involve parents in supporting and encouraging children

to learn through regular bedtime story reading. We will have a number of parental workshops throughout the year to highlight the importance of a good bedtime routine and the learning experience that can be developed.

See Mrs Donaldson for details
