Stage 3: I think

To have children carry out actions based on instructions, show the flashcards and read the commands and ask what they think the teacher is saying to the class.

Have the children perform every action. Finally, ask children to open their books to page 37. Ask them to circle the picture with a red colored pencil. Continue until you finish the activity.

Match the columns

Write the words sit, open, stand on the left side of the board, and the words up, down your book. Invite children to pass to the front, read the first word on the left side:(sit)and have children complete the instruction by saying (down) *you may want to mime the activity to help them remember . ask them to match the two words: sit down with red chalk. Then, ask another child, to paste the correct flashcard next to the word. Repeat activity with the rest of the words.

Count the letters in each word.

Show flashcards for numbers from 1 to 5. Ask children to say each number aloud. Write the word sit. Invite children to count the letters with you. Ask a child to come to the front and place the correct number next to the word.

Complete the instructions with words from the box

Play the memory game by mixing up the cards with words and pasting them on the board. Face one flash card down on the board, invite a child to come to the front and flip over a card. Read the word and ask children to repeat. Then, ask them to find the word missing by flipping over another card. Read it aloud and ask children to repeat it. Then ask children if the instruction is correct or not. If the child finds a pair, he may win a sticker. In not, he has to close the two cards in exactly the same place, and invite another child to play.

Ask children to open their books to page 39. Have children count the number of letters in each word in the box, and write the corresponding word in the spaces provided. Help children notice that classroom instructions star with a capital letter and end with a period.
