What can your school do to make the world sustainable?

Since young minds have the power to change the mind set, we Govt LPGS Varkala, like to do something positive for the ‘Life on Land’.

Morning Assembly

By protecting Mother Earth, we can do justice to the entire living organisms. We take various steps to protect environment. June 5th is celebrated as the World Environment Day. We distribute saplings of trees and seeds of vegetables. We conduct rallies to create awareness in the society.

Headmaster S. Sreelal , SMC Chairman P M Saju, BPO SathiKumar and Balakalpakam Project Lead Sheena Aneesh

We have started a project called Balakalpakam. This was started to enhance the name of our state ‘Kerala’ which means ‘Land of KERA or Coconut trees’. Students were given saplings of coconut trees. They started rearing it up. We planted one in the school and named ‘Malala’.

It is made sure that the students of this school use clean water and healthy sanitation facilities.

To establish zero hunger, the school provides breakfast and lunch for all the students. Milk is given twice in a week, and egg and fruits once in a week.

Quality education is ensured to all with the help of the Sarva Shisksha Abhiyan (Initiative taken by the Board of Kerala).

Well being of the children is assured by imparting human values ad treasures of tradition. Onam, Christmas, Eid, Ramzan, Diwali etc are celebrated in the traditional style. This gives us an occasion to share the thoughts of the old people.

Prayer, Yoga, Meditation etc are taught so that the students have holistic, positive attitude to life. Regular medical check-up of students is ensured .

With the help of the School Managemnet Committee, a Children’s Film was created named ‘Snehasparsam’ in which the students save a thrown out old Grandpa. With him the students travelled around and came to know more about the locality.

We are part of all the social activities. Palliative Care Day is observed on January 15 th. The students visit the elderly, sick or thrown out people to nurse and serve them. They collect coins and join together to help cancer patients.

We take every opportunity to celebrate. This creates an awareness to protect earth, light, water, etc. More over the students understand the value of oneness and their responsibility to protect life on earth.

We would like to know more about other schools and thereby enhance our cultural relations and educational opportunities.

Thanks & Regards,
