Auspicing is the term used that sees the school deliver the entire VET program to students within their normal timetable by qualified and experienced teaching staff (already) employed by the school.

The IVET Institute acts as the RTO and is responsible for resources, support and issuing of qualifications to students. This is a very popular model with the subjects IVET offer and allows students to be taught by staff in your school whilst having the compliance and rigors of an RTO taken care of by the IVET Institute.

WHY VET IN SCHOOLS PROGRAMS

VET in schools programs provides opportunities for students to explore and gain real-life skills to enhance employment opportunities, whilst still undertaking full time study in their own school.

Vocational programs (in schools) provide students many of the following opportunities;

• training that is relevant to the workplace • gives students a head start on preparing for a career post secondary school• allows students to be involved in real-life learning whilst still undertaking full time study in school• gain practical, work-related skills to enhance your future employment opportunities• provides guaranteed pathways for students studying with IVET post secondary school into the vocational sector• allow students to gain a nationally recognised qualification whilst still in school• contributes to the students VCE and or VCAL units• may contribute to the students ATAR score

The IVET Institute has developed a three year vocational program that can fit into the structures of your existing VCAL program and allows your students to gain further qualifications before completing secondary school.

All of these programs are designed to supplement your existing WRS program and are all delivered by your school’s teachers in normal class time. The added benefit is that the IVET Institute will provide all resources for both students and staff as well as provide teacher support, professional development and pathways opportunities for students completing these programs.

By building on your school’s current program and adding further resourcing, structure, practical and theoretical learning, these VCAL programs will add further consistency to your internal curriculum and allow teachers to focus less on resourcing and more on class room engagement.

The benefits of adding to your existing VCAL programs are many and include:

• further qualifications for students adding to greater employability opportunities• resources that add more academic structure and learning for your students• alternative VET certificate to accommodate VCAL requirements• band funding received for enrolling in further VET certificates adding to your program’s budget
