► PM Series Material Lift

Note: To comply with ANSI/ASME B20.1 standard, proper guarding on all accessible sides must in place during operation. Material Lifts are not subject to elevator codes as they are designed for material lifting only. No personnel are permitted to ride on any vertical lift. The following items are to be supplied by others and are not included with the vertical lift: (1) wall and floor hardware to secure the lift to the walls and floors, (2) external electrical wiring which is to be performed by a qualified electrician to local and national codes, (3) the conduit and disconnect switch that is required to connect our control panel and (4) upper and lower level thresholds.

Surface Mount:The platform deck is 4” from the floor on the ground level and flush with the floor on upper level.

Pit Mount:Platform deck is flush with the floor on all levels (standard pit is 4”H).

STRUCTUREGuide rails are constructed from structural steel angle. Carriage uses steel channel for vertical members and header. Carriage deck (platform) is built from solid steel plate on a square steel tube frame. All sides covered with 1/2” expanded metal for a fully enclosed lift.

OPERATIONIlluminated push-button stations at each level allow full call/send capabilities, inform the operator of carriage position and indicate door open. Mushroom style E-Stop buttons are included in every call station.

CARRIAGECarriage is built as one piece for added strength. Platform panels are provided on non-operating sides of the carriage and snap chains on operating sides for safety.

ELECTRICALControl voltage is 24V for all switches and momentary push button stations. Push button stations are NEMA 12.

SAFETY SYSTEMSFail-safe electric brake locks the carriage in place in the event of a power failure. Slack cable switches shut off the motor if the cables

become slack. Broken cable brakes prevent the carriage from falling in the unlikely event of a cable failure. Limit switches provide accurate leveling at each level. “NO RIDER” signs are on carriage and at each entry point. Double swing interlocked gates prevent access to the carriage while in motion and when not present at that level.

MECHANICAL DRIVEThe carriage is moved by using an electric fail-safe brake motor and reducer. Dual cables and drums provide extra safety and durability. This drive system requires very little maintenance. Electric brake motor prevents carriage drift.

LARGEST PLATFORM & LIFTING CAPACITY IN ITS CLASS: In addition to the standard configuration of a 3’x3’ platform and 500 pound load capacity, the TL Series offers an unprec-edented 4’x4’ platform with 1,000 pound load capacity to handle those jobs too big for standard box lifts.

DUAL LOADING HEIGHTS: Only the TL series offers dual loading heights: 1) floor level for rolling on larger loads with a cart or hand truck and 2) a optional removable shelf for mid height loading for improved ergonomics when hand loading (3’x3’ platform only). . DUAL LOAD CONFIGURATIONS: The TL Series offers “C” and “Z” loading/unloading configurations for improved versatility.

SIMPLIFIED INSTALLATION: The bolt-together, modular design of the TL Series simplifies the installation process to greatly reduce the installation time .

FACTORY PRE-WIRE: The unit is fully wired and assembled at the factory to guarantee proper operation. Connections at installation are clearly marked to simplify hook up and eliminate wiring errors.

FULLY ENCLOSED: The TL Series incorporates safety enclosures on all sides to ensure operator and bystander safety.

FULL HEIGHT PLATFORM ENCLOSURES: The side panels of the lift platform extend to the full load height to secure and protect the load during operation.

ELECTRO-MECHANICALLY INTERLOCKED GATES: The gate at each level is equipped with an electro-mechanical interlock to prevent access when the lift platform is not present.

ILLUMINATED OPERATOR STATIONS: The push buttons at each operator station are equipped with lighted buttons to provide the operator valuable information on lift status such as platform position and gate open/closed status to save time and prevent downtime.

Major Points Mechanical Hydraulic

Fluids Will never leak. Will eventually leak. Slight seepage is considered normal. This is an environmental issue

Lifting Force

Driven by an electric brake motor cyclo-reducer which lifts the platform with cables.

Electric motor drives the hydraulic pump, forcing fluid thru a system of control valves, flexible hoses, and cylinders.

Cycle Limits 100% duty cycle 10 cycle per hour average

Travel

Steady & smooth with controlled acceleration and deceleration (Soft-Start / Soft-Stop).

Age and oil temperature extremes can cause jerky & inconsistent movement. Precise intermediate stops not possible due to hydraulic drift.

Footprint All lift components are contained within the footprint of the lift.

Hydraulic Motor / Pump Unit is located separately from the lift and connects by hoses to the cylinders mounted on the beam.

Maintenance

The chain will stretch over time, but that is all that will have to be adjusted or replaced.

The fluid and oil filter will require changing; the reservoir requires cleaning; oil viscosity must be maintained to prevent gum, sludge, plugged valves and excessive wear on the components; the inlet line must be checked for frays and kinks; and the hydraulic system may require flushing. As the unit ages, the hydraulic pump, cylinders, valves, hoses & chain will have to be replaced for the lift to continue to move the rated capacity.

The Choice

By far, the mechanical lift is the better choice for quality, longevity and minimum maintenance.

CIP warrants the Gear/Motor Assembly free from manufacturer’s defects for a period of 10 years.
