We appreciate how overwhelming planning a wedding can be and at

Copdock Hall, we want you to enjoy the day exactly the way you’ve

planned.

We’ve created a stunning historical building with all mod cons,

but it’s waiting for you to put on the finishing touches.

Each wedding is individual and with the hire of the venue lasting 48

hours, you really have time to make it your own. Of course,

we can help along the way with an emphasis on fun, so that you, your

family and friends can share a day to remember.

On the big day you will have access to the barn at least 24 hours before the event when

you can personalise the venue with flowers, lighting, special effects and seating

plans. On weekend weddings the hire will run from midday Friday to midday Sunday.

• There is a private bridal room at your disposal for the whole day.

• There will be a dedicated event manager on the day.

• We have three caterers for you to choose from and recommendations for photographers, florists,

DJs, cake suppliers, make-up artists and hairdressers which have been personally selected by us.

• You are welcome to bring in your own wine for the wedding breakfast with no corkage charge.

We supply a staffed bar in the evening which will charge local pub prices.

• There is a wide range of three and four-star accommodation within four miles of the venue

as well as easy road and rail networks to London, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk.

• We are on hand to offer advice and answer questions.

Civil ceremonies

Copdock Hall is licensed for civil ceremonies. These can be held in the Elizabethan barn or outside

under the lean-to. For smaller, intimate ceremonies, the Walsingham bridal room is available which can

accommodate up to 30 people. Copdock Hall can accommodate anything from small groups to around 300

for larger ceremonies.

The venue hire price includes provision for the civil ceremony but fees are payable to the Registrar

direct for their services - currently between £450 to £595 depending on day/time.

Religious ceremonies

Copdock Hall is situated next to the parish church of St Peter’s, a beautiful 15th century

building perched on the village’s highest point. It couldn’t be a shorter walk to the reception

at Copdock Hall via a churchyard gate and across a grassy field next to our very own vineyard.

Hall FAQs


Can you get married at Copdock Hall?Yes. We have a wedding licence for civil ceremonies in the barn itself, the Walsingham Room or

outside under the lean-to in the courtyard. Registrars charge for conducting the service which is a

separate fee paid to Suffolk County Council, see Weddings section. Just across the field is our local

parish church of St Peter’s where you can enquire about a Christian service.

What is included in the hire?The hire of Copdock Hall includes exclusive use of the venue the day before and the day of your

wedding. Tables and chairs for 120 guests are included as well as various trestle tables, use of a private

bridal room, car parking, underfloor heating, purpose-built modern toilets, area for outside caterers,

a staffed cash bar in the evening, DMX cabling for light effects, in-house music and PA system with

three zones, screens to create different settings and wifi. Our grounds include a terrace and courtyard

for reception drinks, contained sprawling lawns with plenty of space for guests and a safe option for

children and a vineyard for photos, next to the 15th century parish church.

Does the price change depending on when you are getting married?Yes, we try to be as flexible as possible with low, mid and high season prices. We also have special

midweek prices and some packages which include food and entertainment.

Do you charge corkage?No. You are welcome to supply your own wine with no corkage charge during the wedding breakfast

or if you prefer, we can source this for you but it must be cleared away after the meal. We include a

cash bar in the evening.

Do you have a choice of caterers and a list of preferred suppliers?Yes. We work with three caterers (see next page) and have a number of personally-selected suppliers

we can recommend and who know the venue.

When do I have access to the venue?We want you to have enough time to create the day you want so weekend hire of Copdock Hall runs

from midday Friday until midday Sunday (48 hours).

Do you offer parking?Yes. We have parking and guests are able to leave cars overnight, collecting on the Sunday morning or

following day if midweek.

How many guests can the venue hold?Copdock Hall is perfect for intimate weddings but can also accommodate up to 200 seated guests

for the wedding breakfast and more in an informal evening setting. It is a very versatile space and can

be adapted to suit most sizes. Weddings with 150+ guests may incur a supplement.

Are we allowed to add special effects to the barn?Yes, we encourage you to bring in decorations, personal effects and even favourite

furniture. We have cabling for various lighting effects like flooding the walls with colour or

adding fairy lights.

Is there accommodation?We don’t have accommodation on site but we have a list of at least 12 options within

around 5 miles of the venue, including a hotel 500 yards away, see Accommodation section.

Do you offer a wedding planner service?We already have an event manager for every wedding. In addition to this, we are able

to offer a personalised service where we can liaise with you, your families and suppliers

throughout to help you create the perfect wedding day. This would incur an additional fee.

What are the operating hours of Copdock Hall?08:00 - 23:00 Monday to Thursday,

09:00 - 22.30 Sundays and Bank Holidays,

08:00 - 23:30 Fridays and 08:00 - 00:00 Saturdays. Amplified music must stop at 23.30

What about photos?You will have free rein to have pictures taken in and around the barn including the

vineyard, outbuildings, adjacent grass field and next door parish church.

What do we do next?The best thing to do is contact us, come and have a look round Copdock Hall and discuss

your plans. We appreciate this is one of the biggest days of your lives but it can also be

enjoyable and fun – we’re here to ensure it ticks all the boxes.

Directions from the A12 - London and the South / the NorthTake the exit marked Copdock/Belstead. This is just after the exit to Capel St Mary and a

garage on your left if coming from south(Colchester direction) and the first slip road if coming

north from Ipswich/A14. Follow the road around the bend and up the hill. It forms a dual

carriageway.

You will pass the Ipswich hotel on your left and a cricket pitch on your right. Look out for the

Copdock Hall brown tourist sign at the next turning to the right.

Directions from the A14Come off the A14 at junction 55, signposted for the A12. Turn right at the roundabout and

join the A12.

Take the first slip road signposted for Copdock and turn right at the roundabout. Follow the

road around the bend and up the hill as above, looking for our brown tourist sign.

When visiting, beware that some older sat navs may try to take you to Church Lane

in Sproughton or Washbrook using our postcode or may have our road registered

as Pound Lane rather than Church Lane. If in doubt, google maps show the accurate

location.

It is the Copdock and Washbrook slip road you need to take off the A12.
