The Celia Franca Centre is an award-winning,
state-of-the-art dance training facility at Canada’s
National Ballet School. The three storey atrium at
the heart of the Celia Franca Centre is called Mona
Campbell Square. It serves as a café and gathering
place for the school and makes an ideal venue for
events. An impressive modern structure of glass-
and-steel surrounds and encases the Georgian-style
house of long time Ontario premier Sir Oliver Mowat
(originally built in 1856). The superb integration of
heritage buildings and contemporary architecture
can be enjoyed inside and out. The atrium opens
on to a courtyard, providing a seamless transition
of indoor and outdoor spaces.

Built in 1911 as a Quaker Meeting House, Currie
Hall (as it is now called) was the original site of
Canada’s National Ballet School. Now used as the
dining hall for students in the Professional Ballet
Program, it is steeped in history and tradition,
providing a gracious and refined atmosphere.
A small central courtyard is available when
weather permits.

Located behind the façade of a historic Jarvis St. mansion, the Betty Oliphant Theatre is the training and performance
venue for Canada’s National Ballet School and an important venue for small and mid-sized dance companies. The the-
atre’s intimate feel combined with its large sprung stage, orchestra pit and professional lighting, sound and fly systems
make it an ideal venue for dance and musical presentations.
Venue Booking Information
LocationCanada’s National Ballet School’s main campus (the Celia Franca Centre) is located at 400 Jarvis St. Guests arriving
here can access the circular driveway at the front of the building. The Betty Oliphant Theatre is located at 404 Jarvis
St. Currie Hall is located at 105 Maitland St. (Maitland St. and Mutual St.).
Availability The award-winning facilities of Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS) are primarily used to accommodate the
needs of its professional training program and its community dance programs that run 7 days a week. Spaces
available to external clients can only be confirmed once the School’s needs have been met.
Booking Please complete the on-line inquiry form and submit. When inquiring about availability, mention the name of the
venue, the number of guests, and the dates you have in mind. For information, call 416-964-3780, ext. 5131 or

Payment A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total estimated cost is required on signing the rental agreement. No booking
is official until a deposit has been paid. A second installment of 50% of the total estimated cost is due 8 weeks prior
to event. A third installment of 25% of total estimated cost is due 1 week prior to the event. The client provides
a cheque or credit card for first deposit as well as post-dated cheques or credit card authorization for second and
third installments. Any additional costs (beyond the total estimated cost) will be reflected in the final invoice,
which will be sent 10 calendar days after the event date.
Last Minute BookingsIf you are booking less than 30 days prior to your event, full payment is required at the time of booking.
Cancellations Changes or cancellations must be confirmed in writing. A fee of 25% of total estimated costs (the deposit) is
applicable with more than 90 days notice of change or cancellation. A fee of 50% of total estimated costs is
applicable with notice between 60 and 89 days. A fee of 75% of total estimated costs is applicable with between
30-59 days notice of change or cancellation. Under 30 days notice of change or cancellation, a fee of 100% of
estimated costs is applicable.
NBS Landmark and Administration FeesA 15% Landmark Fee (or Heritage Fee) on food, beverages, and staffing is applicable and will be added to your
catering invoice by the NBS’ preferred caterers. A 10% administration will be applied to your venue rental costs
and added to your venue invoice. These fees support the professional and community programs of Canada’s
National Ballet School, a registered charitable organization.

Preferred Caterers NBS’ preferred caterers rank among the finest Toronto has to offer. Every aspect of your event can be overseen
by these dedicated professionals – event and menu planning, food and beverage services, staffing, music, décor,
and coordination of equipment rental. Please contact our preferred caterers directly to arrange quotations and
consultations regarding your event.
Liquor Service A Special Occasion Permit from the LCBO must be obtained when alcohol is served. NBS’ preferred caterers
can assist in this process. Please allow at least two weeks prior to the event to obtain the permit. You must
provide this permit to NBS five days before your event.
ParkingUnderground parking for 40 vehicles at the Celia Franca Centre is possible, depending on availability, in association
with valet services provided by Northern Valet. Fees applicable. Area parking is also available on Jarvis, Church,
and Maitland Streets.
Audio-Visual Equipment Some audio-visual equipment may be rented from NBS, depending on availability.
Internet, Telephone and Fax ServicesWireless internet, telephone conference and fax services are available. Please confirm your requirements when
you make your booking.
