Dear Students,
Vedanta Foundation has always been in forefront to work for the empowerment of less privileged
through its educational and social initiatives. Vedanta College of Management and Information
Technology (VCMIT) is one such initiative to drive the talent in right direction and utilize the same
for the growth of individual and the nation.
This prospectus outlines the rules and regulations of the college along with the necessary formalities
that needs to be fulfilled by students in the academic year. The students are required to preserve this
important document throughout the year.
VCMIT desires to extend the facility of Higher and Professional Education to each and every student
who cannot afford the same due to increasing expenses. In order to uplift the student’s educational
and social standard, the college provides required support and industry relevant education thereby
making them job-ready. Consequently, the college aims at creating a pool of trained human resource,
which can be utilized by the Industry and benefit the individual, as well as the nation.
The college has special consideration for students belonging to socio-economically disadvantaged
section and has therefore introduced various scholarship schemes that would help the students to
achieve their dream of pursuing higher professional career. The “Earn While You Learn Scheme”
helps students to work in the Call Center/ BPO installed in the college campus, after college hours and
thus support their educational expense and contribute to their family income.
Along with a huge campus and a set of qualified and experienced faculty, the college offers essential
amenities like a spacious Library, well-equipped Computer Lab, and other facilities to support
recreational activities.
We envision that no student should be deprived of education because of lack of finance. Vedanta

Special Provisions for Financially Weaker Students
To justify our vision and mission, the college contributes towards the well-rounded development of
the underprivileged students by offering them various schemes.
Special Vedanta Scholarship for the students belonging to this segment and schedule caste
& schedule tribes categories. Under this scheme students can collect the prescribed
application form from the college and duly submit the same in college for waiver of Tuition
fees, along with required documents. The final consideration of the scholarship grant is
completely entitled to the Management’s discretion.
“Earn while you learn” is an earning opportunity offered by the management for a gainful
employment of financially weak students along with the objective of ensuring continuity of
their education. The call center has been set up within the college premises where the college
students work on part time basis post study hours. The college students can avail this
opportunity to support their education as well as gain hands on work experience.

A candidate keen to take admission for B.M.S. Degree Course should have passed Std. XIIth from the
Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent & secured not less than 45 %
aggregate (40% in case of Reserved Category) in the first attempt or Diploma in any Engineering
discipline with two/ three/four years duration after completion of S.S.C.under the Board of Technical
Education, Maharashtra or its equivalent.

R.4163 (I) Total number of lectures per theory paper shall be a minimum of 50 and a maximum
of 55, of 50 minutes duration each.
R.4164 (II) For Projects, the teacher shall initially engage about 5 lectures for orientation. A field
visit shall be organized for data collection and analysis. Before the report is finalized,
the student shall present their observations to the faculty wherein the faculty shall
provide guidelines for finalization of the same.
R.4165 Scheme of Examination (3rd Year B.M.S.)
1. The examination shall be conducted at the end of each Semester.
2. The paper shall be of 100 marks. The evaluation of the performance of the student in
theory papers shall be on the basis of both internal assessment (40%) and Semester
End Examination (60%).
R.4166 (I) Passing Standard and Performance Grading for 3rd Year B.M.S.
Passing Standard
A student shall have to obtain a minimum of 40 % marks in aggregate for each theory paper (where
the theory paper consists of Internal Assessment & Semester End Examination with minimum 40%

marks (i.e. 24 Out of 60) separately to pass the subject and minimum of grade C in each project
wherever applicable to pass a particular semester.
Performance Grading
The PERFORMANCE GRADING of the student shall bebased on the SEVEN point ranking system
as under:

The performance grading shall be based on and calculated on the aggregate performance of Internal
Assessment and Semester End Examination.
II. Carry Forward Of The Marks In Case The Student Fails In One Or More Subjects
A. A student who passes in the internal examination but fails in the Semester End Examination
of theory paper shall reappear for the Semester End Examination of that theory paper.
However his/her marks of the Internal Examinations shall be carried over but he/she shall be
entitled for grade “E” on passing.
B. A student who PASSES in the Semester End Examination but FAILS in the internal
Examination of the theory paper shall be carried over but he/she shall be entitled for grade
“E” on passing.
The Internal Examination for reappearing student will consist of one project of 40 marks,
which will be divided into 20 marks for the hard copy of the project, 10 marks for the
presentation and10 marks for the viva.
III. Allowed To Keep Terms (ATKT)
a) A student shall be allowed to keep terms for Semester V, if he/she passes Semester I,
Semester II, Semester III and Semester IV. OR if a student shall pass Semester I and Semester
II and fail in not more than two theory paper of Semester III and Semester IV taken together
where the total marks does not exceed 200.
b) A student shall be allowed to keep terms for Semester VI, irrespective of number of heads of
failure in the Semester V.
c) The result of Semester VI shall be kept in abeyance until the student passes each of Semester
I, Semester II, Semester III, Semester IV and Semester V.

a. A student who passes in all the theory but does not secure minimum C grade in project as
applicable has to resubmit a fresh project till he/she secures a minimum of grade C. His/her
marks in the theory paper that the student has passed will be carried forward but he/she shall
be entitled for grade “E” on passing.
b. A student shall obtain a minimum grade C (or its equivalent) in project evaluation. Also, the
student shall obtain 40% marks in project work (Project evaluation and viva-voice taken
together)

For admission into the three years integrated course of Bachelor of Commerce, a candidate must have
passed Std. XII examination conducted by Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher

Eligibility criteria
For admission to the degree course in Bachelor of Science – Information technology, a
candidate shall have passed 12th Std. Examination of the Maharashtra State Board of
Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or equivalent with Mathematics as one of the
subjects and should have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% aggregate in
case of reserved category candidates).

Additional Semester End Examination
Eligibility to appear for additional semester end examination
A student who does not appear (i.e. remains absent) in some or all the courses on medical
grounds or for representing the College/University in sports, cultural activities, activities of
NSS, NCC or sports training camps conducted by recognized bodies/competent authorities or
for any other reason which is considered valid under exceptional circumstances and to the
satisfaction of the Principal or the Head of the Institute
OR fails in some or all the courses is eligible to appear for the additional examination.
A student, who does not appear for both Internal Assessment as well as Semester End Examination,
shall not be eligible to appear for the additional Semester End Examination. The additional Semester
End Examination shall be of two hours duration and of 60 marks per course. The studentcan appear
for the Semester End Examination of the course for which he/she was absent or has failed. Students
who are punished under 0.5050 shall not be eligible to appear for this additional examination.
Performance Grading
The PERFORMANCE GRADING of the student shall be on the SEVEN point ranking system as

1. A student is said to have passed, if he/she secures 40 % of the total marks allotted in each
head of passing. Theory of 100 marks and ('1W/Practical/Tutorial of 50 marks) are treated as
separate head of passing.
2. A student is said to have passed a Semester, if he/she passes in all hand of passing of the
semester.
3. A student is eligible for admission to Semester V, if either the student passes Semester III and
IV OR
The student fails in a combination of Theory and/or Practical taken in Semester III or
Semester IV or together, where the total marks does not exceed 200

O.2859: Refund of Tuition, Development and all other fess after cancellation of

The candidates who have taken admission in under graduate courses in Govt.

Note:
The total amount to be considered for refunding fees from the commencement of the academic term
of the course includes the following:
I. All the fee items chargeable for one year are as per the University circulars for different
faculties (excluding the courses for which the total amount is fixed by other computer
authorities).
II. The fee charged towards group insurance and all fee components to be paid as University
share (including Vice-Chancellor fund, University fee for sports and cultural activities, E-
charge, disaster management fund, exam fee and enrolment fee) are non-refundable if
payment is by the college prior to the date of cancellation.
III. The Fee collected for identity card and library card, admission form and prospectus,
enrollment and any other course specific fee are not refundable after the commencement
of the academic term.
IV. All refundable deposits (Laboratory, Caution Money and Library etc.) shall be returned at
the time of cancellation.
Provided that the admissions are made through a centralized procedure for professional and or any
other courses by other competent authorities, the Refundable Rules are applicable as specified by such
authorities (as per the rules of relevant agencies) for the first year admission. In case of admission to
subsequent years of the course, O.2859 is applicable for cancellation of admission.
Furthermore, this refund rule is concurrent with the rules and guidelines of other professional
statutory bodies appointed for admission for the relevant courses.
O.2859-A & O.2859-B have been replaced and the amended O.2859 related to the refund of tuition
fees, development and all other fees after cancellation of admission for the under graduation courses
has been brought into force with effect from the academic year 2008-09.
Refund of Deposit
Application for the refund of deposits must be made between 1st September to 30th September and
1st February to 28th February of the year, when applicant cases to be a student of the college, failing
which the deposit will be forfeited.
College Discipline
1. The Principal is the final authority and reserves all rights to refuse admission to any student
without assigning any reason thereto.

2. Students seeking admission to the college will be given the college prospectus along with the
prescribed form. The form with all necessary information should be duly filled and necessary
documents must be attached before submitting the same.
3. All admissions are provisional, subject to the confirmation of the University.
4. All admissions are valid for one academic year only and will have to be renewed. A fresh
application needs to be submitted after every subsequent year.
5. To confirm the admission the students will have to pay the required fees on the same day,
failing which his/her admission will be automatically cancelled.
6. During admission the concerned student should be personally present in the office.
7. Students are required to preserve all receipts. At the time of the reimbursement of deposits
the receipt must be produced without which the deposit amount will not be reimbursed.
8. Original school leaving certificate 10th/12th, as the case may be, should be deposited with the
college. Under no circumstances shall such certificate be returned to the students.
9. Identity cards will be issued to the students after the admission. Students shall not be allowed
to enter the college premises without a valid Identity card. Students must produce /present
their identity cards for inspection or verification when demanded by any college staff. Refusal
to produce I-card for inspection amounts to indiscipline and is a punishable offence.
10. A student seeking admission to any class must duly fill the admission form and complete all
the formalities. Students will not be admitted to any course unless the form is submitted in the
college office.
11. The admission to F.Y. classes will be based on merit and as per the University of Mumbai and
Government rules. Admission schedule will be displayed on the notice board immediately
after S.S.C. /H.S.C. results.
12. Students should attend all classes, tutorials, seminars, practical and college examinations
according to the time-table provided. Students remaining absent will have to submit a leave
note signed by their parents/ guardians stating reason for them being absent. Leave on
medical grounds should be supported by a medical certificate. In all cases, leave over three
days should be immediately brought to the notice of the principal.
13. Students should be punctual. Late comers will not be allowed to enter the class.
14. Students should maintain minimum attendance as prescribed by the college; failing to which
he/she will be exempted to appear for examinations.
15. Students should not bring an unauthorized person with them into the college premises.
16. Collecting funds for any purpose is strictly prohibited unless permitted by the principal.
17. Intellectual copyrights of the college are the sole property of VCMIT.
18. Students would be asked to leave the college for misconduct or any other serious breach of
discipline.
19. No fresher or farewell party will be allowed without prior permission of the principal.
(College authorities will not take up the responsibility for any function held outside the
college campus.)
20. Students are not permitted to use mobile phones with camera, walkman and cameras
within the college premises. A fine of Rs.500/- will be charged along with the

confiscation of the instrument, if found using any of the above mentioned items in the
college premises.
21. Smoking and Consuming Alcohol Is Strictly Prohibited in the college premises.
22. Students should take proper care of all college property. Any damage done to the property of
the college by disfiguring walls, rooms, windows and fittings or breaking the furniture etc. isa
breach of discipline and will be punishable and damage done to the college property would
call for recovery of cost.
23. The students should not litter in the premises.
24. Students should come decently dressed to the college. For violation of dress code there will
be a fine of Rs.100/-
25. Associations or organizations will be formed only after the prior permission of the principal.
26. For inviting a person to preside/participate in an association /organization/visits etc., prior
permission of the principal is necessary.
27. Any grievance related academics; administration etc. should be first brought to the notice of
Vice Principal or the Head of the Department before meeting the principal.
28. Strict discipline must be maintained throughout the college functions and programmes.
29. Loss of mark sheet should be immediately reported to the principal along with a detailed
written explanation of the circumstance in which the mark sheet was lost. The report of the
loss of mark sheet should be reinforced with a police complaint made to the nearest police
station and an affidavit (on Rs.50/- Stamp Paper) specifying details. The principal may issue a
duplicate mark sheet after considering the propriety of the concerned student. Serious
disciplinary action will be taken against students for misusing the mark sheet.
30. Matters not covered by the existing rules will rest at the absolute discretion of the Principal.
General Information
Remedial Courses
Remedial courses can be made available as per the requirement of academically weaker students as
well as for those from vernacular medium to help them cope up with their studies.
Holidays
College will remain closed on Sundays and all public holidays as declared by the Government of
Maharashtra and on such other days as the Principal declare from time to time.
Granting of Terms
The college will grant terms on the basis of:
a. 75% attendance in lectures and in practical in each term/ each subject is must.

b. According to the university rules attendance for lectures, practical and tutorials is
compulsory. The minimum attendance required for granting the term is three fourth of the
days on which lectures, practical and tutorials are conducted.
Attendance
Attendance will be condoned on medical grounds by 10% (a student must keep minimum 65%
attendance) provided it is substantiated with relevant medical certificate within a week of getting the
fitness certificate.
Parents/ Guardian are requested to check their ward's attendance from the college. They are
requested to attend the parents meeting held by the college and follow up their ward's progress.
Railway / Bus Concession
All students are eligible to avail concession for railway / bus journeys between the station near to the
place of their residence and the college, and for journeys to their place of permanent residence (as
declared in their application form for admission) during vacations. Students are required to enter their
local and permanent address correctly in the admission form to facilitate the issue of railway / bus
concession order. The student may be required to produce documentary evidence of his/her residential
address, if necessary.
Students Council
1. Nomination of all members for student’s council will be held as per the rules prescribed by
the University and on the dates announced.
2. The student’s council shall consist of the following:
a. One student from each class, who has shown academic merit at the examination held
in the preceding year and who is engaged in full time studies in the college and is nominated
by the Principal.
b. One student from each activity, who has shown outstanding performance and is
nominated by the principal viz.
1. Sports
2. National Service Scheme and Adult Education
3. Cultural Activities
c. Two girl students nominated by the Principal.
3. The student members of the student's council shall elect from amongst themselves, the
secretary of their council and his/her name will be sent to the Students Council of the
University.
4. All the members of the Students Council shall help the Principal in maintaining order and
discipline in the college.

5. The students in general and at the time of college functions in particular, shall not misuse
their position to be irregular in attending lectures, practical or any other way harm the interest
of the institution.
Identity Card
No duplicate Identity Card will issued be any circumstances unless approved by the authority. The
loss of Identity Card should be immediately reported to the Principal/Vice Principal along with a
detailed written explanation of the circumstance in which the Identity card was lost. The report of the
loss of Identity card should be reinforced with a police complaint made to the nearest police station.
The Principal may issue an Identity card after considering the propriety of the concerned student.
Serious disciplinary action will be taken against students for missing the Identity Card. The student
will be charged Rs. 50/- for duplicate Identity Card.
General Information
Students Council
1. Every student must possess his/her library card while making use of the Library and produce
the same to the Library Staff on entering the Library.
2. Complete Silence must be maintained in the Library. Any student who is found causing any
sort of disturbance (talking, discussing etc.) in the Library is liable to be debarred from the
Library facilities by the Librarian.
3. Students who want to borrow books for home reading will have to pay for a membership on
the prescribed form. They will have to pay deposit Rs. 300/- (subject to revision). A Reader's
Ticket will be issued to students against the receipt of deposit. At a time, one book will be
issued against one Reader's Ticket for a specific number of days only and on the days
specified for each stream/faculty from time to time.
4. Students can get any book i.e. textbook, reference books, reference sources for reading in the
reading room against his/her Library Card. If the book has been is taken without the
permission of the Librarian, a fine of Rs. 50/- will be charged and no book will be issued to
the student in future.
5. Books for overnight reading will be issued only after 3.00 p.m. and the same must returned
before 9.30 a.m. next day. A fine of Rs. 2/- per book will be charged, if overnight books are
returned before 9.30 a.m.
6. Students can borrow novels on a separate card i.e. Novel Card.
7. Newspapers and Periodicals are issued against Library cards for reading in the Reading
Room. Bound volumes of journals will be issued for current reading only.
8. When books are issued, students should check the pages of the issued books and if pages are
found missing, they should report the same to the Librarian before leaving the counter. On

returning the books, if pages are found missing, the last borrower of the book shall be held
accountable for the missing pages and shall accordingly be fined.
9. Students are required to handle books and reading material very carefully. Marking library
books with pencil or ink, tearing the pages or spoiling the same in any other way will be
viewed very seriously. In such a case, the last reader will be held the responsible unless the
student shows the Librarian at the time of issue that the book had been previously marked or
damaged. In the event of damage of any kind, the last reader will be liable to compensate for
damage. Books will have to be replaced and an addition cost of Rs.10/- will have to be paid as
processing charges.
10. It is observed that some of the students do not return the Library Books on or before the due
date stamped on the date slip in the book, thus depriving other students using the Library
facilities. It order to prevent such students from keeping Library books with them for longer
than normal, the fine charged will be Rs. 3/- per day.
11. In case a Reader loses a book, he/she should replace the book. In case the book cannot be
replaced, the current price of the book and an additional charged of Rs. 10/- as processing
charges will have to be paid.
12. Membership card is non- transferable. Student must not lend their Readers Ticket to any other
student to borrow books from the Library. Library facilities will be suspended for students
misusing the cards.
13. The college Leaving Certificate or Transfer Certificate will be issued to student only after
he/she has returned all the Library books.
14. Student of S.Y. and T.Y. should renew their Reader's Ticket before 31st of July of each
Academic Year. If they fail to do so, they will have to pay a fine of Rs. 5/- per day.
15. Student of F.Y. should get their Reader's Ticket issued before 31st August of each Academic
Year. No Reader's Ticket will be issued to any student after this due date. However, only in
special cases or under genuine circumstances the Reader's ticket will be issued to the students
after obtaining the Principal's permission, and the Student will have to pay a fine of Rs. 50/-.
16. In case a student loses his/her Reader's Ticket then the student should apply for a Duplicate
card on the prescribed form available at the Library Counter. Rs.50/- will be charged as fine
for issuing the Duplicate Reader's Ticket.
17. Students are strictly prohibited to use their cell phones in the Library. If caught, the cell phone
will be confiscated for a week or a fine of Rs.500/- levied or both.
Suggestion Scheme
“A participatory tool for organization excellence”
A suggestion box for students has been installed in the Library for receiving suggestions for
improvement of the college on all fronts-academics, curricular & co-curricular, administrative and
other matters. For parents and visitors, the suggestions box is installed outside the office on the
ground floor. They can also provide suggestions for improvement.

Anti – Ragging Squad
Students indulging into ragging shall be strictly dealt with by the “ANTI RAGGING SQUAD” of the
college. The members of the squad include the senior teachers.
Sports & Gymkhana
The college has a large play ground where it provides facilities for conducting various sports event
like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Hand Ball, Athletics, Carom and Chess and also
participates in Inter-collegiate competitions organized by University of Mumbai & other colleges. The
College also organizes Inter-collegiate tournaments in some events.
Rules for College Gymkhana
1. The college provides the facilities for both Indoor and Outdoor games (Viz. carom, chess,
athletics, football, volleyball and cricket). Students are required to read notices regarding
sport activities regularly.
2. Gymkhana facilities are available only to the bonafide students of the college. No outsider
will be allowed to play in the college gymkhana.
3. No student shall be permitted to use the gymkhana facilities without proper Identity card.
4. The gymkhana facilities will be available to the students on working days.
5. No student will be permitted to play in the gymkhana at the time when his/her lectures or
practicals are going on.
6. The gymkhana facilities shall not be provided during the examination period.
7. Student should not create any nuisance in gymkhana by the action which may obstruct the
lectures and other work in the college.
8. Students who are selected for tournaments should not remain absent from participation and
practice. In case a player remains absent, he/she must seek prior permission from the sports
in-charge.
9. It is compulsory for the selected players to attend the coaching, if any, for various games and
sports regularly, failing to which he/she may be dropped from the team.
10. Indiscipline in the team will not be tolerated.
11. Students who do not make judicious use of sports equipment’s may be deprived of gymkhana
facilities.
12. Any loss or breakage of the gymkhana equipment’s at the hand of students will have to be
made good by the student concerned.
13. In view of the preparation for the final examination, all the gymkhana activities shall be
closed at the end of January.
14. Smoking is strictly prohibited in gymkhana.

15. If a student is guilty for not abiding any gymkhana rules, he/she may be deprived of
gymkhana facilities.
College Examination For First Year And Second Year Students
A. Credit Based Semester & Grading System Scheme For Examination
The Examination scheme of Theory and Practical's (if applicable) shall be divided into two
components: Internal Assessment component carrying 40% and External Assessment
(Semester End Examination) component carrying 60% marks for each course per semester of
the programme.
B. Internal Assessment (Theory Examination)
It is defined as the assessment of the student on the basis of continuous evaluation as
envisaged in the credit based system by way of participation in various academic and co-
related activities in the given semester of the programme. Internal Assessment includes
Assignments, Semesters, Case Studies, Quizzes, Viva, Open Book Test, Unit Tests, etc.
C. Internal Assessment (Practical Examination)
It is based on the best practical, journals and viva.
D. Semester End (Theory Examination)
It is defined as the examination of the students on the basis of performance in the semester
end theory/written examinations. The examination shall be of 2 hours duration.
E. Semester End (Practical Examination)
It is defined as the examination on the basis of performance in the semester end practical
examinations.
2. Additional Semester End Examination
A. Eligibility to appear for additional semester end examination

A student who does not appear i.e. remains absent in some or all the courses on medical
grounds or for representing the College/University in sports, cultural activities, activities of
NSS, NCC or sports training camps conducted by recognized bodies/component authorities or
for any other reason which is considered valid under exceptional circumstances and to the
satisfaction of the Principal or the Head of the Institute OR fails in some or all the courses is
eligible to appear for the additional examination.
A student who does not appear for both the Internal Assessment and Semester End
Examination shall not be eligible to appear for the additional Semester End Examination.
The Additional Semester End Examination shall be of two hours duration and for 60 marks
per course. The student shall appear for the Semester End Examination of the course for
which he/she was absent or has failed. Students who are punished under 0.5050 shall not be
eligible to appear for this additional examination.
3. Standard of Passing
A. Commerce Faculty
1. A student shall be allowed to keep terms for Semester II irrespective of number of heads of
failure in the Semester I.
2. A student shall be allowed to keep terms for Semester III, if he/she passes each of Semester I
& Semester II.
OR A student who fails in not more than four courses of Semester I and Semester II taken
together, with not more than two courses each in semester I & II.
3. A student shall be allowed to keep terms for Semester IV irrespective of number of heads of
failure in Semester III. However, the student shall pass each course of Semester I and
Semester II in order to appear for Semester IV.
4. A student shall be allowed to keep term for Semester V, if he/she passes Semester I, Semester
II, Semester III and Semester IV. OR A student shall pass Semester I and Semester II and
fails in not more than four courses of Semester III and Semester IV taken together with not
more than two courses each in Semester III & Semester IV.
5. A student shall be allowed to keep term for Semester VI irrespective of number of heads of
failure in the Semester V. However, the student shall pass each course of Semester III and
Semester IV in order to appear for Semester VI.
6. The result of Semester VI shall be kept in abeyance until the student passes each of Semester
I, Semester II, Semester III, Semester IV and Semester V.
B. Science Faculty

1. A student shall be allowed to keep terms for Semester II irrespective of grades obtained in
each course of Semester I
2. A student shall be allowed to keep term for Semester III, if he/she passes (grade 'E' or
above in each course) each of Semester I and Semester II
OR He/she fails in not more than three courses, in each of Semester I and Semester II (For all
Science Programmes carrying total 900 or more marks).
He/she fails in not more than three courses with not more than total 200 marks, in each of
Semester I and Semester II. (For all Science Programmes carrying less than total 900marks).
3. A student shall be allowed to keep terms for Semester IV irrespective of grade obtained in
each course of Semester III. However the student has to pass either of Semester I or Semester
II in order to appear for Semester IV.
4. A student shall be allowed to keep term for Semester V, if he/she passes Semester I, Semester
II, Semester III and Semester IV.
OR He/she has passed Semester I and Semester II and fails in not more than three courses in each
Semester III and Semester IV (For all Science Programmes carrying total 900 or more marks).
He/she has passed Semester I and Semester II and fails in not more than three courses with
not more than total 200 marks, in each of Semester III and Semester IV (For all Science
Programmes carrying less than total 900 marks).
5. A student shall be allowed to keep terms for Semester VI irrespective of grades obtained in
each course of Semester V.]
6. The result of Semester VI shall be kept in abeyance until the student passes each of Semester
I, Semester II, Semester III and Semester IV and Semester V.
4. Exemption
An unsuccessful candidate who obtains the minimum marks prescribed for passing in a course
may, at his/her option, be exempted from appearing in that course at his/her subsequent
appearance and will be declared to have passed the whole examination with the grade
obtained on his/her passing in the remaining course in which he/she has failed.
5. Ex-Students
Candidates who have been declared failed at the examination or who have been allowed to
keep terms for higher semester shall appear as ex-students for the respective semester held by
the college.
6. Eligibility to Appear at the Semester Examination
A student, who has failed or is allowed to keep terms for higher semester is eligible to appear
at the subsequent examination. Student suffering from Dyslexia, Dysgraphia & Dyscalculia or
are visually impaired/low vision/physically challenged are requested to contact college office

to obtain details about the facilities available to them for examinations. They are required to
produce the relevant documents to avail the benefits.
7. Award Of Grades For Ist To Ivth Semester: Science & Commerce
Faculty
A. Passing Standard A student to pass a course shall have to obtain a minimum of 40 % marks in aggregate for
each course consists of Internal Assessment & Semester End Examination. The student must
obtain a minimum of 40% marks (i.e. 16 out of 40) in the Internal Assessment and 40 %
marks in Semester End Examination (i.e. 24 out of 60) separately, to pass the course and a
minimum of Grade E in each project, wherever applicable, to pass a particular semester. A
student will be said to have passed the course if he/she passes the Internal Assessment &
Semester End Examination together.
B.Passing Standard
The PERFORMANCE GRADING of the students shall be on the SEVEN point ranking system as

CALCULATION OF CG
C = is credits assigned for each course
CG = C x G (G=Grade Points)
GPA = SCG/SC.
Grade Point Average is calculate for every semester
Duration of the B.Com, B.Sc., B.M.S. & B.Com. (B&I) programme will be of 3 years in the Semester
pattern i.e. from Sem. I to Sem. VI. The degree will be awarded to the student who successfully
completes 120 credit of the programme in period of 3 to 6 years from the year of enrollment to
Semester I.

8. A.T.K.T. Rules
Irrespective of number of ATKT, in Semester I, III & IV students are allowed to appear for Semester
II, IV & VI. But, in order to appear for semester IV examination, the student should not have ATKT
in Semester – I and Semester – II.
9. University Examination For T.Y.B.Sc. Students
Only those students who satisfy the following condition will be permitted to appear for the
University examination
A. Satisfactory attendance i.e. minimum 75 % of attendance in lectures, practical's and tutorials
separately
B. Satisfactory academic performance in terminal/preliminary examination.
The First & Second Year B.Sc. examinations are conducted by the college on behalf of the
University of Mumbai during the month of March as per the rules prescribed by it. The Third
Year B.Sc. examination will be conducted by the University of Mumbai as per the date
announced by the University. Those who fail at the annual examination or are allowed to keep
terms can appear in the papers in which they have failed during the month of October every
year.
10. University Examination for T.Y.B.Com Students
The Third year B.Com examination pattern has been revised as per the University Guidelines
i.e. 60 Marks Theory Examination in the entire subject will be conducted by the University
and 40 marks Internal Assessment will be conducted by the respective colleges. Internal
Assessment will comprise of class tests, assignments and active participation of the student
during lectures conducted in the class.
PASSING STANDARDS
A minimum of 35 % separately in Theory Examination (i.e. 21 out of out 60 Marks) and Internal
Assessment (i.e. 14 out of 40 Marks) is mandatory. Students are advised to login to Mumbai
University website www.mu.ac.in to get more details on credit and grade point system.
