General Information
Valve 2002 series belongs to the new Numatics Valve Generation 2000. It fulfills all requirements of automation.Characteristics:- Modular reality, true plug & play flexibility in design, module width 10 mm.- Strong and light due to valve housing and manual pilot overrides made of metal.- Bases made of ultra lightweight injection moulded thermoplastic. Blank station plates made of metal for added rigidity.- Equipped with the famous Numatics lapped spool and sleeve assembly: - Insensitive, self-cleaning spool made of stainless steel with “air bearing effect” by air entrained between spool and sleeve (1 µm clea-
rance), typical service life of more than 200 million cycles. - Can operate with different pressures at the same time within one valve, independent of the flow direction. - Available as 5-ported, 2- and 3-position valve - Available with NBR seals for leakproof sealing, with wear bands made of Delrin®* on spool for long service life, - Additionally available as dual 3-ported, 2-position valve- Exchange of valves without dismounting valve manifold- Protocols available: G2-1 Electronics : Profibus DP, DeviceNet, AS-Interface G2-2 electronics : Profibus DP, Interbus S, CANopen, DeviceNet, Allen Bradley RIO, DeviceLogix, Control Net, Eternet/IP, Modbus TCP, FIPIO, AS-Interface, Fieldbus Foundation- One communication module can drive up to 32 valves on a manifold and up to 96 external inputs / 192 external outputs. This saves purchasing many further expensive communication module nodes.

COMBINATIONS• Modules of up to 22 valves can be grouped together.
The maximum number of valves depends on the type of electrical connection chosen:
- 25 pin Sub-D connector : max. 22 solenoids - Terminal strip: max. 16 solenoids• Optional mixing of:
- All functions of dual 3-ported, 2-position, 5-ported, 2-position single or double actuated and 5-ported, 3-position valves.
- Pressure separation plate and intermediate pressure supply module.• The valve manifolds are intended for frame or DIN-EN 50022 rail mounting.

Certification is by the Profibus Interface Center (PIC) according to the guidelines determined by the Profibus Trade Organisation (PTO). AS-interface offers a simple and quick technology to connect the various elements of a system with each other. With AS-interface, actuators and sensors can now communicate over a direct fieldbus connection, which was technically not possible in the past. Data and auxiliary power are transmitted over a single cable. The profiled AS-interface cable is designed for AS-interface interconnectivity. The special trapezoidal profile of the 2-wire cable prevents polarity reversal.The electrical connection is made with 2 prongs which pierce the AS-interface cable offering high-reliability electrical contact. This contact technology eliminates the need to cut and strip wires. The electrical connection of a Numatics AS interface network can therefore be made in the shortest amount of time.

G2-1 Electronics • I/O Modules for Profibus et DeviceNet™Discrete I/O Modules
Discrete I/O modules are used to connect additional I/O devices to the valve manifold node. This provides for more efficient use of system resour-ces when configuring a communication system.
Universal input modules feature technology that allows the same module to automatically recognise PNP or NPN type sensors without the need to add external pull-up resistors or manually select sensor type.
Input and output modules have two 12mm (micro) connectors. Each can be used individually (i.e. 1 I/O point per connector) or can be used for double point (i.e. connector 1 has two points of I/O). This standard feature further simplifies external I/O wiring.
Sub-D output module can be used to drive 16 additional coils on a separate manifold or 16 discrete output points.
Sub-D I/O module can be used for inputs and or up to a total of 16 I/O points.

The manifold consists of 8 stations, assembled with 8 single solenoid pilot actuated 5-port., 2-pos. valves. Pin allocation is from left to right, i. e. pin 1 is assigned to the solenoid of the first valve, pin 2 to the solenoid of the second valve etc. (see drawing).
The manifold consists of 8 stations, assembled with 3 dual solenoid pilot actuated 5-port., 3-pos. valves, 1 blank station plate kit and 4 single solenoid pilot actuated 5-port., 2-pos. valves. Counting is analogous to the previous example. However, please note that station 4 (pins 7 and 8) is wired although there is no valve to be mounted (now: blank station plate kit). This allows later expansion of the manifold (see drawing).
