Dear Parents/Carers,

Christmas Counts

Every Year I am privileged to watch

watch our youngest children perform

perform in our Infant

Christmas Play. This year was just just

just mesmerising!

Congratulations to all the children

children who participated by reading,

reading, singing, and acting. Well

Well done to the staff, parents and children

for putting in so much effort in such a short

period of time.

All the children were just amazing and so

confident throughout. Special mention must

go to Lily Prosser as she sang a magical solo 3

times in front of a packed out audience.

Class 3 - Chefs in the making:

Class 3 had an exciting morning cooking pizza

down at the Dean Academy. They had all the equipment they needed in their own

dedicated cooking area. They chopped, grated and added their ingredients. They said

it was the best pizza they had ever tasted! Some children

even tried things that they thought they wouldn’t like.

Quotes from the day were:

“I loved it all, it was

amazing!” – Joshua

“I enjoyed spreading lots

of toppings and eating it!” -

Evee M

“It was great, I’d never

before made a pizza”-

Afternoon Tea-Party & Christmas Concert

Last week parents and guests enjoyed a

wide variety of musical performances at

the Afternoon Tea-Party & Christmas

Concert. Children in Key Stage 1

launched the afternoon with 3 songs

from their Nativity, then Music Club

shared a piece that they have been busy

practising called the 12 Bar Blues.

Following this, we saw performances

from pupils who have been receiving 1:1

music lessons: Poppy H, Chloe B, Caitlin, Isobel, Hannah R, Sophie, Natasha, Jessica, Jaz, Sian and

Chloe G all performed solos on the piano; Adam shared a piece on the keyboard, Dillon played his

cornet; Sofia was on the guitar: Daniel and Sophie performed on their oboes and Millie did her solo

on the clarinet. Finally, Key Stage 2 sang some of their favourite Christmas songs. It was plain to see

that we have so many talented children at Yorkley School.

Also, a huge thank you to Class 5 for serving the teas/coffees and to Class 5 parents who provided

the biscuits for the guests to enjoy.

Christmas Dinner and Panto:

After a few days of wondering if we would actually go, the school ventured out to Cheltenham to see Dick

Whittington. As always Tweedy was hilarious keeping the children entertained throughout. Fire juggling, a

glowing underwater scene and the Bollywood dance were also a great hit. After having to delay the

Christmas dinner due to our ‘snow days’ earlier in the week, many thanks to the kitchen staff for turning

everything around so smoothly this Thursday.

Christmas Craft Fair:

Our Christmas Craft fair was a great success. Well done to all classes for making such wonderful gifts. In

total £277 was raised, all of which will go back into buying more art and craft materials for the children

next year. Well done to Miss C. Smith for winning the hamper.

Sporting Events:

WINNERS:

Well done to our junior team who

represented the School in the Forest of

Dean indoor Athletics competition. In

total 18 primary schools battled it out.

Our children were in the morning round,

out of the 10 schools we got the highest

1st Yorkley – 1118 points, 2nd Lydbrook –
