According to Aristotle, Man is union of body and soul. Soul acts as the
realization of body and body needs soul in order to be called as man.
St. Thomas of Aquinas followed this understanding of Aristotle. For him
Man is a substantial union of body and soul.
Upon reading the book entitled “The Greatest Man Ever Lived”, there is
a scene when John the Baptist baptized Jesus Christ when He turns 30, the
right age for baptism. According to John the Baptist, Jesus doesn’t need to be
baptized because He is the Son of God but Jesus insisted for Him as mortal
He needs to follow what is the will of God for people to do in order to be born
again as Christian. After Jesus has been baptized the
heavens are opened up' to him. What does this mean? Evidently it means
that while he is being baptized, the memory of his pre-human life in heaven
returns to him . Thus, Jesus now fully recalls his life as a spirit son of Jehovah
God, including all the things that God spoke to him in heaven during his pre-
human existence. In addition, at the time of his baptism, a voice from
heaven proclaims: "This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved."
Whose voice is that? Jesus' own voice? Of course not! It is God's. Clearly,
Jesus is God's Son, not God himself, as some people claim.
However, Jesus is a human son of God, even as was the first man,
Adam. The disciple Luke, after describing Jesus' baptism, writes: "Jesus
himself, when he commenced his work,
was about thirty years old, being the son, as the opinion was, of Joseph, son
of Heli, . . . son of David, . . . son of Abraham, . . . son of Noah , . . . son of
Adam, son of God ."
In this scenario, I have related this in the belief of Socrates and Plato
about Man having body and soul, as well as to St. Augustine of Hippo and St.
Thomas of Aquinas. St. Augustine for as Man created in the image of God.
We have seen that Jesus before he was born as human to save us from our

sin was a soul or spirit and a Son of God. After He has been baptized he
remembered everything he was because his true soul brought back his
memory as a spirit son of God. As reader I was amazed with brilliant idea of
those Philosophers that they’ve thought of those things even if they did not
experienced nor witnessed that miraculous event in the life of Jesus Christ.
There is another scene in the book that makes the idea of St.
Augustine true about the participation of man as imperfect to be with God.
How powerful our God for Him as the sole authority to judge even the soul of
every human.
When Jesus Christ was preaching His 12 apostles, He gave them
warnings and expecting to receive ill-treatment and persecution while
preaching the Word of God, but as long as they are participating and doing
the will of God they have nothing to fear about. Jesus said, "Do not become
fearful of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be in
fear of him that can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna." In this
statement, He assured them of life everlasting with God for doing the will of
the Lord and not life in Hell (Gehenna) by letting evil be empowered in them
In epicserye Amaya the theory of dialectical materialism can be
observed. This epicserye is about a girl who’s being predicted/destined to be
the only one who can defeat the Datu of their banwa/place. The nephew of
Datu wants to be the Rajah and he secretly organized his own group. As
what was the prophecy told that Amaya is the who can kill the Datu and that
happened accidently. After killing the Datu, Amaya doesn’t able to govern
the banwa because she is considered as killer and being hunted by the
followers of the Datu. The one who governed the banwa was the nephew of
the late Datu who organized the revolotion against the Datu. But because of
the oppressed way of governing the Banwa there are some who wants to
make the present Rajah expelled from his place as Rajah. And the one with

the most brilliant idea on to steal ones place won the position of Rajah and
that was in the person of Lamitan, the stepmother of Amaya. The same as
with other Rajah the people was not happy with the way she governed them
so they have made plans on how Harah Lamitan being expelled from his
position.

This kind of mentality of people in the epicserye shows the theory of
dialectical materialism where there is non-stop revolution unless classless
society has been achieved. For me this is not a good attitude among people,
for there will be no peace, and there will be no development or improvement
because everybody wants to be on top. They do not want to listen to what
other people wants to happen. How can someone supports a person that
doesn’t support them in the first place?..this will be unending battle of who’s
the best among those who claimed that they’re the best. It is better to follow
the golden rule, “Do unto others what you would want others do unto
you”
