Background of the Group The group began in 2009 as Sisters4Islam and was
the brainchild of Jamila Jones a Jamaican revert sister who moved from Bristol and was looking to embrace the different religious communities that were a part of Leicester (Asian, Somali, Swahili, Arab, African, Caribbean communities that were all Muslim but were found in segregated clusters). The vision was to create an Islamic based umbrella sisterhood fostering learning and communication that could embrace and support women from all these groups regardless of culture, background and faith.
Weekly WednesdayCoffee Mornings
This group began in 2010 at the request of brothers who were doing dawah at the Clock tower at Leicester city centre and didn’t have anywhere to signpost sisters who took the shahada. This was initially a support for female revertsbut has grown in popularity that most Women from different ethnic backgrounds and faiths enjoy a regular attendance.
Trips and Excursions
We usually organize Eid Family trips to theme parks (Thorpe park, Alton towers, Twin Lakes and seaside beaches). Again these were mainly started for the reverts who had no family but became so popular with the community that we have one every year. Last year we received Community First funding and we managed to take a large group of the Community to the seaside at Skegness.
Weekend Iftar Programme/halaqah during Ramadhan This was initially began to support the Muslim
reverts who had no family so that they have a chance to experience iftar with other Muslim sisters.
It became so popular amongst the community that we would provide iftar for 100-200 people.
Restaurants around Leicester like Koyla’s, Food Corner, Najeeb’s, Arabella, Zagros Pizza etc also began donating food for this event.
So far the programme has served St. Matthews area, City Centre, Highfields and Evington.
Eid Gatherings
Again these were started mainly for the reverts who had no family so thatthey could enjoy Eid with the organizationmembers but became very popular that we hold one every year for the community at Eid ul Adha.
BASKET-BALLBasket ball try outsand practice for girls above 13 every Saturday afternoonrun by our Youth EventsCoordinator, Zara Lartey.

Quarterly Pampering Evenings
Every 3 to 4 months weorganize a pampering evening event to raise funds for our activities like the Ramadhan iftar programme, Eid Get-togethers and trips.Different treatments would be offered by sisters voluntarily and all proceeds would be donated to the organization. Excellence of Generosity and Spending in a Good cause with Reliance on Allah" Lend unto God a goodly loan. Whatever good you shall forward on your behalf you shall find it with God, as better and richer in reward”. (al-Muzzammil 73: 20.)
"And whatever you spend in good, it is for yourselves, when you spend not except seeking Allah's Countenance. And whatever you spend in good, it will be repaid to you in full, and you shall not be wronged.'' ( Baqarah 2:272)
