The Auxiliary Foundation Office 352-751-8871, is located at the TVRH East Campus across from the main hospital on Hwy 441. It is staffed Monday through Friday, 9 am-2 pm. Our Mission Statement To raise funds and create awareness of the services which our hospital provides to maintain and improve the quality of patient care.

Welcome to our family and we want to assure you that all funds generated by the TVRH Auxiliary Foundation are used

for YOUR HOSPITAL.

A Message from Our Foundation Chairman continued from page 1

Our mission is simple:

To raise funds and creaTe awareness of The services which our hospiTal provides To mainTain and improve The qualiTy of paTienT care.

Our first endeavor is to help with the new $59 million expansion of The Villages Regional Hospital approved by the Hospital’s Board of Directors on November 5, 2013. When completed, we will have over 300 beds, additional surgical suites and doubling the size of the Emergency Room. As a Foundation, we pledged $10 million towards this effort and Christine Cote, MD has agreed to be our Chair. We have found it necessary to educate our community on all of the changes happening at the hospital, so we developed a special presentation that we have given to over 2,000 individuals throughout the year. If you are interested in having someone from the Foundation present to you and your group, please contact us at (352) 751-8871.

Sincerely,

Richard “Dick” Campbell, Chairman TVRH Auxiliary Foundation

Over the years, funds donated to the Hospital Auxiliary have been used to

purchase needed state-of-the-art equipment so the hospital can continue to be on the cutting edge of the latest technology available to provide our residents with the most up-to-date procedures right in our hometown.

In 2011, funds received from our donors helped to purchase special equipment needed for the Cancer Center’s new Linear Accelerator, a highly targeted treatment of cancer for the best outcomes. When neurosurgery was introduced at TVRH, donated funds helped to purchase minimally invasive spine instruments to allow our neurosurgeons to perform a more effective alternative to open back and neck surgery for faster recovery for our patients. In 2012, thanks to the generosity of our donors, the hospital was able to upgrade the Operating

Room lighting to a special LED Surgical Lighting and Visualization System providing exceptional surgical site illumination allowing our physicians to view every image in stunning clarity.

Most recently, the Hospital Auxiliary Foundation was able to purchase three Xenex germ-zapping robots, a unique system, that uses pulsed xenon ultraviolet light to quickly destroy viruses, bacteria, mold, fungus and bacterial spores in the patient environment that cause infections and has been proven to be more effective than hand cleaning with bleach.

Letter of Thanks “Thanks for fine care at Villages Hospital”

After a recent hospital stay, I came away with a very warm and good feeling about our hospital here in The Villages. I must give my heartfelt thanks to everyone there, from the courteous golf cart driver to the emergency room staff, and above all, to all the wonderful nurses and staff on the fifth floor, especially nurse “Mo”. Thank you all. It is very reassuring to know we have a great hospital so close to us all.

Since opening in October 2008, Ye Olde Thrift Shoppe (YOTS)

has raised money for our hospital – including the purchase of a pulmonary video system, portable EKGs, minimally invasive spine and joint arthroscopy instruments, hip and shoulder retractors, and a Jackson spine table. With the recent acquisition of the “Amish Furniture Store” building at 110 W. Lady Lake Blvd., the Shoppe will be able to carry larger furniture and to add more retail floor space

to increase sales. Much work needs to be done to convert what was a warehouse, without air-conditioning, into a large retail space and an

expanded pricing/sorting room. In the next few months we are targeting a grand opening.

Not only does the Shoppe raise money for our hospital, it benefits the environment by recycling/reusing items and it offers wonderful bargains to local residents who are looking to stretch their budgets. The Shoppe sells clothing, books, household items, home décor, jewelry, collectibles, shoes, linens and some small furniture. It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and is located at 106 W. Lady Lake Blvd in Lady Lake, just two blocks south of the intersection of SR 466 and US Highway 441, in the Lady Lake Historic Park.

Valet Parking

On July 1, Valet Parking went from “wish list” to reality, with the hiring of ParkMed Inc., a company that provides

valet service for medical facilities in more than 20 states.

The cost of this six-month trial service is being supplemented by the Foundation to keep the price low for the patients and hospital visitors.

ParkMed, which is handling about 100 cars a week, provides such gratis extras, as opening car doors and assisting patients into and out of the vehicles. The $3 fee is a small price for eliminating some stress for both the visitor and the patient during critical visits to the hospital.

Letter of Thanks TVRH Professionals Make an Impact “Please allow me to “heap praise” upon your employees that I encountered upon my recent procedure at The Villages Regional Hospital. I was scheduled for a heart catheterization and everyone I encountered from the pre-admission personnel to the cardiac unit were beyond friendly and helpful. My worst fears were laid to rest when I checked in downstairs with two cheerful ladies who welcomed me as if I were their own family! I wish to thank members of the heart cath unit: Beth, Paul, David and Lisa. They were friendly and professional. What outstanding personnel! In over 45 years of my working life, I found it rare to come upon such absolute professionals. I am indebted to all of you.”
