No one can predict yet what digitalization will really mean for us. Some

analysts say more jobs will be created than cut, others are less optimistic.

Some consider artificial intelligence and self-learning systems to be a big

risk, others hail the possibility that many routine tasks, which no human

wants to do anymore, will be taken over by machines.

Whichever way you agree, the fact is: Our world is changing and data

is playing the lead. Naturally, all that data collected and generated by

machines, sensors and systems needs to be explored. This is not possible

without powerful analytics systems. So if data is the foundation, then

analysis is the house that builds on it.

Even if this “house” of the digital future is smarter than ever before,

without past and history, it’s just an empty shell. Only by gathering historical

data, trends can be identified, forecasts prepared and plans assessed. Only

from experience, we learn what has proven its worth. This is the only way

to create best practices that help to constantly improve processes.

Furthermore, the huge amounts of information are also a huge challenge. A

meaningful centralized data storage is no longer possible. Edge Computing

is the new solution, and OLAP systems are experiencing a revival, helping

business users to focus on analyzing essential and relevant data. Not

everything new is necessarily good and not everything old bad. On the

contrary, it is important to combine proven technologies with new ones and

derive maximum benefit from them. In the end this is a question of return

on investment, both in terms of data and systems.

cubus can support you on your way into the digital future and help you to

adapt to current developments and changes – with innovative software and

service offerings as well as new ideas and proven methods. That is why we

would like to invite you to Schloss Hohenkammer this year. In this idyllic

corner of the world in Bavaria near Munich, the past fuses with the present.

Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you have the opportunity

to clear your head and let yourself be inspired. Discuss your questions with

experts, share experiences with your peers and take home real solutions.

In keeping with the motto of this year‘s cubus customer day, we are

sticking to our proven concept and yet everything is a little different.

The main difference is made by you, our customers. In addition to the

usual Austrian, Swiss and German users, we invited our other European

customers to join us in Bavaria. While cubus software will no doubt be

our common topic, English will be our shared language. As you will

see, all presentations are either held in English or will be simultaneously

translated. We hope you take the opportunity to find out how

companies all over Europe are dealing with the challenges of digital

transformation and find the time to network with your international

peers.

For evening entertainment we have yet again chosen something

different and would like to challenge the other, creative side of your

brain as well as your muscles. While the conference dress code is

business casual, please bring comfortable clothes and shoes for our

Bavarian Olympics. Though you do not need to pack your wellies. A

nice, dry hall will be at the ready in case the weather should turn foul.

In case of questions please do not hesitate to contact Tanja Schuller on

What Has the Battle of Waterloo to Do with Successful Controlling?Plenum, 11:15 - 12:00 pm

Despite today‘s advanced analytics capabilities, objective knowledge may well be an

illusion as the world seems to be moving towards increased volatility, uncertainty,

complexity and ambiguity (VUCA). New business models, products and services are

emerging at breakneck speed. Some disappear just as quickly. Others stabilize or

change. This can lead to misinterpretations and wrong decisions. What seemed to

make sense yesterday is obsolete today. In order to deal with such a world, it requires

the acceptance of blurring, the taking of rather small steps with regular corrections,

an open error and feedback culture as well as knowledge of the context.

Jens Ropers, Trainer and Partner, CA Akademie AG

Mini Workshops – Focus on Digital TransformationTrack I, 1:30 - 2:30 pm

The digital transformation, the change process and its impact are a key topic of

this customer day. For this agenda item your opinion is in demand! How do these

changes affect professional life and companies? We want to discuss this with

you in our mini workshops and find possible solutions. In small groups we will

exchange information on given topics, such as VUCA experiences, and record our

findings.

Do you have a topic for a mini workshop that you want to discuss in a group?

Contact Tanja Schuller by phone +49 7032 9451-0 or email: [email protected].

If at all possible we will try to include your suggestion.

cubus outperform Tips & TricksTrack II, 2:30 - 3:00 pm

Anyone who needs to create and maintain applications knows how useful these

little tips and tricks are that you will never find in manuals or the online help. As an

insider, the long-standing team leader of cubus consulting Erich Hettrich can draw

on an enormous wealth of experience, and one thing is certain: His tips have proven

themselves in practice. Take the opportunity to take home many useful suggestions

for your own applications.

Our Journey with EV AnywherePlenum, 3:30 - 4:00 pm

Over the last years, mobile reporting has become more and more important at ZEISS.

In close cooperation with cubus, ZEISS AG had the opportunity to incorporate its

customer perspective into the design of EV Anywhere.

The focus was on improving the usability of reports on mobile devices and

implementing associated functions such as drag-and-drop.

The presentation showcases the final release of EV Anywhere and its current use

at ZEISS as well as the – in ZEISS‘ eyes – ideal mode of cooperation during the

development phase.

Frank Eilers

is a graduate in business administration and started the podcast

„Arbeitsphilosophen - The Future of Work“ in 2014. Since then

he has lectured on future topics such as Digital Transformation

and Artificial Intelligence. In the second season of his podcast,

he will focus intensively on our life in the digital world and seek

answers to the questions: How do we want to live? How will we

work in the future?

The terms New Work and Work 4.0 are used more and more frequently and

are now known to a large number of people. Since New Work is more than

just a tie ban and table football, it is time to get into the “real” implementation.

To make this happen he thinks outside the box and talks to entrepreneurs,

thought leaders, scientists, artists and politicians.

Bavarian Olympics won’t be that extreme, but you’ll be asked to leave

your comfort zone, which might not be such a bad idea after being

confined to a conference room all day. In our “competition” muscle

power is not all you need to win, you also require skill, coordination, dexterity,

creativity, the right technique and of course teamwork. In any case, you will be

breaking new ground and doing things that you probably have never done before.

Our olympic program features a “Bavarian Oktathlon”, a multi-discipline

competition that will be fought out at different stations. The results of the teams

will be documented at each station and it all ends – as it should be – with an

award ceremony including certificates. We wish you a lot of fun and good luck.

Let’s go! Or to say it in Bavarian: “Pack mas!”
