Using Positive Action for AllParts of Title 1

Positive Action is an effective and appropriate program for all parts of Title I. It provides additional academic support and learning opportunities to help low- achieving children master challenging curricula and meet state and Common Core standards in academic subjects.

Positive Action has recently been approved as a program that meets all of the requirements of School Improvement Grants for the new Whole-School

Reform model. It is also appropriate for Schoolwide and Targeted Assistance programs with proven, easy-to-use tools. Positive Action provides effective extra instruction in reading and mathematics as well as special preschool, after-school, and summer programs to extend and reinforce the regular school curriculum. Plus, Positive Action has been proven effective as a program for neglected and delinquent children as well as early childhood development.

Positive Action is pleased to announce that it has been approved by U.S. Department of Education as a Whole-School Reform model for School Improvement Grants (March, 2015). It is one of only four programs that met all of the criteria and one of two which is a PreK—12 program.

WHY USEPositive Action?

Positive Action has had great success with assisting students who have been institutionalized due to neglect or their delinquent behavior. The program has research outcomes which demonstrate that it works for preventing all problem behaviors but is also effective as an intervention and treatment program for neglected and delinquent students.

NEGLECTED/DELINQUENT PROGRAM

Positive Action has all the right tools for conducting pre and after-school and summer school programs. There is curriculum for each grade level PreK—12, materials for classes for parents and families, and other tools to reinforce the positive actions taught in the classes. The program is flexible and can be customized to fit each site.

21st CENTURY LEARNING CENTER GRANTS

Positive Action has a proven Pre-School Kit with five to ten minute scripted-lessons and all the materials needed to teach the lessons. The materials in this captivating kit has puppets (Mimi and Squeak—hedgehogs), stories, music activities, and colorful visual aids. There are also many hands-on activities to engage the students and assist them to grow academically, behaviorally, socially, and emotionally.

The Kindergarten Kit through Grade Three Kits are outstanding resources with many of the same strategies as the PreK Kit to engage the students and develop their success holistically.

EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM

The Positive Action program is highly-effective for upgrading the instructional program for the whole school. It teaches academic skills or the Common Core and other State standards through a PreK—12 curriculum. With Positive Action, there is a positive school climate development component that creates an environment where students feel welcome and supported. The skills taught in the classroom are reinforced intrinsically to help students become their best selves academically, behaviorally, physically, socially, and emotionally. There are School-Wide Climate Development Kits for both the elementary and secondary levels. These kits provide all the tools needed to organize the whole school for creating a positive learning environment to boost standardized tests scores.
