The purpose of this final project is two fold: 1) Create a general map for users to be able to see the

food options available in Milwaukee City Limits 2) Create a map management tool for provisional food

organizations as a way to manage location sites, strategically plan for future locations, and add content to preexisting sites

This would be an important tool for organizations and the general consumptive community

My target audience consists of two groups: 1) The general public which can use this site to find

standard locations of restaurants, fast food, grocery stores and convenience stores

2) More specifically, I am targeting a group of non-profit organizations whose mission work deals with food security and food accessibility. These organizations have come together under an umbrella group called the “Milwaukee Food Council”

I am hoping this map project will facilitate the creation of a job within one of these groups or for the collective council

I have created two Map-Mashup applications: KML Location Map: This would a resource map for

non-profit agencies where they could upload information into an Excel file, I could then integrate this info into the preexisting MXD file and the refresh the content for site specific locations.

Javascript API: This is for general users who would like to see what food options are available in the Milwaukee County Area. They can locate these places and find the heading about the food stores

Created using shapefiles derived from geocoded information about food locations in Milwaukee. This is a Google Map-Mashup with a Google API being overlayed with KML files for toggling purposes.

Each layer can be selected individual with content specific information for each site.

I turned on the “Label Features”

com ponent for each shapefile,

setting the label function based on

the nam e of the location. This

what specific location is available.

I changed the headers, adjusted

som e of the im ages and include

add itional tabs: Info, Tutorial,

L inks with each tab having

inform ation.

I wanted to m ake a“Get D irections” tool for the Javascript Application but

I ran out of tim e. I also wanted to be able to upload content on the K M L

specific sites but I d idn’t know how to code in htm l script into the K M L

file. I would still like to learn how to generate these tools for future use.
