Upfront Information (as of 11 Feb)
1) There is an ongoing ice jam on the Elkhorn River upstream
of Scribner. This jam is expected to remain until warmer
temperatures this weekend into next week can melt some
of the ice in place.
a) The primary threat from this ice jam is flooding of
Highway 275.
2) Latest Ice Reports
a) The latest information says that the majority of the
Loup/Elkhorn/Platte Rivers are ice free.
b) There are a few exceptions to this (i.e. Scribner).
3) After a brief “cold snap” on Thursday, the forecast is for
above-normal temperatures and little to no precipitation
over the next week.

Final Thoughts
1) The majority of the rivers are ice free. The exceptions we
are aware of are:
a) The Elkhorn River around Scribner
b) The Elkhorn River near Tilden (report from 2/5)
2) There are probably other “pockets” of ice out there, but
they are hard to find as many reports indicate little to no ice
left.
