Who Am I and What Do I Know About Facebook, Anyway?

I’m Dahna M. Chandler, a professional social media, digital publicity and editorial content development strategist.

I am an award-winning serial entrepreneur and journalist and former reporter for Black Enterprise magazine.

My clients have included major nonprofit and government agencies and include consultants, physicians, law firms, staffing agencies, elected officials and candidates for public office.

I’ve been conducting social media marketing strategy since 1992 and used it in 1998 to make myself an international journalist.

I’ve created and executed successful social media and digital publicity campaigns since 1992 and launched my first social media network in 1998.

I have a Klout Score of 65, nearly 5,000 friends on Facebook and have created and manage numerous Facebook Pages and Profiles. I’ve grown my “Likes” on one Page by 42% in five days.

Facebook is the largest social network on the internet with 900,000,000 users worldwide as of May, 2012.

Facebook dominates the market with time spent by users on the site. In November 2011, there were 732,000,000 unique visitors per month in over

53 billion minutes spent on the site by users per month. (Yahoo was a distant 2nd with 17.2 billion minutes spent by users on the site a month.)

The average user spends nearly 7.5 hours per month on Facebook (more than on Google, Yahoo, YouTube, Wikipedia, Microsoft and Amazon COMBINED!).

157,000,000 Americans are on Facebook. That’s more than ½ the population over age 13.

Facebook reaches 70% of active internet users; 1 in 4 webpage visits is to Facebook.

51% of users access Facebook via mobile devices. 80% of consumers connect to brands via Facebook. More than 700,000 businesses have Pages, creating more than 5.3 billion

fans. Facebook generated over $3 billion in 2011 from all this use.

Invite your friends and family to Like your Page. Invite your customers and clients to Like your Page in a

personal email (IF you have their permission to email them), newsletter or on your blog or your website.

Add your Facebook Page URL or icon to your email signature line.

Post your URL to other social media profiles like LinkedIn. Tweet your new Facebook Page’s URL. Add your URL to business cards and other marketing

materials.

Share GREAT content on your Page that adds value to your Fans’ lives and businesses and not just promotes your business or your brand.

Facebook’s TOS or you could have problems). Have conversations, discussions or interactive content on your Page. Keep inviting people to Like your Page on social media. Take out ads on Facebook but write them well to get clickthroughs. Create a specific marketing strategy that is designed to increase your

Facebook Page Likes. Research to learn how. Pay a social media marketing strategist, consultant or agency to manage

your Facebook marketing campaign.
