NATIONAL FORENSIC SCIENCES UNIVERSITY

Introduction

1. The National Forensic Sciences University with the status of an Institution of

National Importance is the world’s first and only University dedicated to Forensics and

allied Sciences. It was established by the Government of India through Act, 2020 (32

of 2020) with the objective of fulfilling the acute shortage against the increasing

demand for forensic experts in the country and around the world. With the elevation

of University as National University and an Institution of National Importance, the

admission policy has been revised and it will be applicable from the academic session

2021.

Academic Programs

2. NFSU offers admission into Bachelors, Masters, M.Phil., Ph.D. and D.Sc.

/D.Litt./LLD programs through the admission procedure at the beginning of each

academic session. NFSU will offer undergraduate courses leading to a Bachelor’s,

Integrated Master’s or Bachelor-Master Dual Degree in Engineering or Sciences from

the academic session 2021 onwards. Both Bachelor’s and master’s degrees will be

awarded to candidates enrolled in the dual degree programs upon successful

completion of the course curriculum. The types of academic programs offered at NFSU

campuses and their minimum duration are given at Annexure.

3. Mode of Admission. Admission to the various programs of NFSU will be

through either ‘online’ examination or ‘merit’ based.

(a) Online Examination. In case of ‘online’ Examination, the student shall

be provided with login credentials of the examination portal. The student will

appear for the examination from the selected examination Centre. However,

considering the ongoing pandemic situation, the University may conduct online

exam in which the students will be allowed to take the examination from their

home.

(b) Merit Based Admission. In case of offline admission for PG courses;

merit list shall be prepared considering graduation marks of passed out

student’s/V semester aggregate marks of students whose results is not

declared/awaited, however such admissions will be provisional. The student need

to submit final semester mark sheet by the date as specified by the University

and their admission will be confirmed only if required cut-off marks as stipulated

5. Entrance Examination.

(a) Format of Examination. The eligible candidates shall be required to

appear in Entrance Test consisting of 100 multiple choice questions (MCQ)

carrying a total of 100 marks covering the syllabus prescribed for the concerned

subject/program.

(b) Less Applications. Entrance Test may not be conducted for admission to

of approved intake. In this case, admissions shall be given based on the merit

of qualifying examination.

(c) Negative Marking. There will not be negative marking for wrong answers

or un-attempted question/s.

(d) GATE/GPAT/CAT Score. The students with valid GATE/ GPAT/ CAT

scores will get preference in admission in respective courses like Engineering,

Pharmacy and Management. However, all these students will have to register

and appear for the entrance examination.

(e) CLAT Score. The admission in LLB (Integrated) program will be based on

the CLAT score, however the applicant has to register in the admission portal.

The merit list will be prepared on the basis of applicants CLAT score.

(f) Preparation of Merit List for Admissions. In the process of making final

admission offers to the M.Tech./M.Pharm./MBA programs, two separate merit

list will be prepared for each program; one based on GATE/GPAT/CAT score, and

the other based on marks obtained in NFSU entrance test. In each program,

50% of the seats will be filled through GATE/GPAT/CAT scores and other 50%

by NFSU entrance test. The admission committee will consider a cut-off score in

each category, based on the applications received and the seats available. If any

seat in one category is not filled, it will be allocated to the other category. Final

decision on this will be taken by the admission committee and will be binding to

all. In other programs wherein GATE/GPAT/CAT/CLAT score are not applicable,

admission will be on the basis of merit based on entrance test only.

6. Admission Procedure.

(a) General Courses. The selection of a candidate shall be based on his/her

performance in the Entrance Test. The Entrance Test 2021 shall carry weight of

100 marks and a candidate shall be considered for selection if he/she has

obtained positive score.

(b) In Case of Tie. Where two or more candidates have secured equal marks

in the entrance test for admission to a particular program, the results shall be

decided as follows: -

(i) Preference will be given to candidate whose graduation aggregate

marks/percentage will be higher. In case the result is awaited then

following semesters (semester 5, semester 4 and so on…) shall be

considered for deciding preferences.

(ii) If in case, there is tie in graduation marks also than SSC (10+2)
