On November 1, it will be two months since our affiliation with UPMC Senior Communities was finalized. We’re pleased to provide you with this update.
Two major tasks are currently underway:
(1) Recruiting an Executive Director for our campus. The primary focus of the Executor Director will be the overall responsibility of day-to-day operations of Asbury. Sherwood Oaks, another CCRC that is a part of UPMC Senior Communities, also successfully utilizes an Executive Director model of management and leader-ship. It is anticipated that an Executive Director will be on board in December.
(2) A Master Site Plan was conducted in 2012. We are in the process of reviewing the relevancy of that plan and investigating possible adjustments.
There are many other things proceeding with our affiliation, and here are a few:
1. Working to provide the best benefits package for the upcoming Open Enrollment.
2. Reviewing opportunities for wage increases.
3. Changes in our pricing to help with Independent Living sales.
4. Software system changes with our Preventative Maintenance work order generation.
5. Reorganizing our Governance Function (the Board of Directors).
6. Various reviews of our Nursing Center by Senior Communities Corporate nursing staff.
7. Preparing our Fiscal Year 2018 Budget and coordinating this process with Senior Communities.
We believe we are taking our time and thinking through the adjustments we need to make at Asbury on our journey to becoming fully integrated into UPMC Senior Communities.
We will continue to provide you with updates as we move forward in our integration process. Please feel free to contact Audrey Burgoon Senior Director of Business Development and Resident Relations (ext. 5121) or Bobbi Brandon, Director, Human Resources (ext. 5185) if you have questions.

Alternative Parking ArrangementsParking Arrangements for Legacy Lineup PerformancesBeginning this month, and every month hereafter, Asbury’s Sales Department will host two programs fea-turing productions, movies and seminars from UPMC Senior Communities’ Legacy Theatre. These traveling shows are part of “The Legacy Lineup” and visit all 19 UPMC Senior Communities campuses throughout the year. Prospective residents are invited to these free shows, giving them a chance to visit and learn more about life at a senior living community.
Because of the limited seating and a need to accom-modate as many new prospects as possible in order to fill unoccupied units campus-wide, these events are not open to current residents. For both November programs, we have over 100 people signed up!
Asbury’s first two Legacy Lineup performances will be Thursday, November 2 and Thursday, November 16, both of which begin at 3:00 pm. The Building 6, Level 2 and Building 7, Level 1 parking lots will be reserved for our guests during these days. Staff who normally park in these areas should consider parking across from the Carriage Homes or in the grass between Building 4 and Asbury Villas (see map).
This alternative parking situation may be inconvenient, but it will only be necessary twice a month. We need to best accommodate our guests during these events. Please keep in mind that holding these types of events is necessary to help fill our vacant apartments and Car-riage Homes.
And remember, even though it may take you longer to walk into work twice a month, at least you don’t have to pay for parking! This is one of the positives to keep in mind.
In appreciation for your cooperation, there will be a free treat in the Mall from 7:30 am to 9:00 am on November 2 and 16.
Thank you for doing your part in helping to make Asbury an inviting place for prospective residents.
Save the DateWalk to End Alzheimer’s This year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place Saturday, November 4 at 9:30 am. The Walk will start at Stage AE on the North Shore.
If you would like to join Team Asbury and help raise awareness and funds for research, visit
http://act.alz.org/goto/asburyheights. If you need assistance signing up, please contact Asbury’s Team Captain (John Komisary) at 412-571-5133 or [email protected]
Parking will be reserved for guests in the Building 6, Level 2 and Building 7, Level 1 parking lots. Employees are encouraged to park across from the Carriage Homes or in the grass between Building 4 and Asbury Villas.
