Recommended FY 2021 Capital Budget and

FY 2021–2026 Capital Improvement Program

I am happy to share the superintendent’s recommendation FY 2021 Capital Budget included Stonegate for a major capital project. This is great news for our school community. Please read the blurb below that I copied from the booklet.

I will continue to share information with you as well as our PTA. This is truly great news for us!

Stonegate Elementary School Capital Project: Current projections indicate enrollment at Stonegate Elementary School will exceed capacity by 92 seats by the end of the six-year planning period. A major capital project is approved for this school to address various building systems as well as the capacity and programmatic needs for this school.

An FY 2020 appropriation was approved for planning to begin the architectural design for this project. An FY 2021 appropriation is recommended for this major capital project.

This project is scheduled to be completed January 2024. Additional information regarding the major capital projects can be found in Supplement C—FY2021–2026 Major Capital Projects Update at the following link: www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/planning/cipmaster.aspx

In order for this project to be completed on this schedule, county and state funding must be provided at the levels recommended in this CIP.

Stonegate ES Major Capital Project Recommended Jan. 2024

Square1Art Fundraiser

Dear Families,

Your talented child has been creating artwork for you that you will see soon on their personalized catalog coming home at the end of October! Celebrate your child’s artistic achievement and order timeless keepsakes while raising money for the school. This year, all keepsakes will arrive just in time for the holidays!

Your child’s personalized catalog will contain a code to view their artwork on many items online! The school earns profit from every order. As a thank you for participating, each child is provided with a sheet of stickers imprinted with their artwork - absolutely FREE!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Del Cid

Clothing To Cash Recycling Program

Clothing to Cash® is a program that collects New and Used Clothing, Shoes, Sheets, Towels, (all Textiles) and pays the school 10 cents for every pound collected.

The program is operated entirely OUTSIDE and will be located in the school parking lot, where students, parents, staff and the community can drop off items throughout the year.

They have state of the art photo quantity sensors installed in each bin that report 3 times daily to prevent overflow and allows the company to schedule service as needed (no other companies use this technology). They empty the collection bin, weigh the contents to determine our school earnings and pays our school monthly.

The average school (500 - 1000 students) will earn $1000- $2000 yearly if each student would donate just one 13-gallon kitchen size trash bag yearly!! Add in parents, siblings, relatives, neighbors, and staff and Stonegate’s earnings could really increase.
