Dear Parents/Caregivers,
We are already almost half way through the last Term of an extremely busy year. Things won’t be slowing down anytime
soon as Stage Three children just returned from Camp, Stage One heading out to Rouse House next week and Stage Two
off to the Maritime Museum in a few weeks’ time. Not to mention Kindy Orientation which began this week and runs for
three weeks culminating with a parent information session on the last Wednesday. We welcome all of our new
Kindergarten enrolments and look forward to them joining our learning community next year.
The Whole School Assembly will be held today and the last Assembly for the year will be held on Presentation Day.
It is also time to start preparing speeches for our aspiring leaders for 2020 and invitations to this years
Farewell have been sent out. All in all, there is still a lot of learning to do before the end
of Term.

K Bilbies On Friday 25 October K Bilbies participated in a Virtual Reality
Incursion. We learnt about space and the universe. We learnt
that ‘virtual’ means nearly real.
Tyler – “I liked it. It was like being in a rocket!”
Madison – “It felt like I was in real space and I liked it.”
Porschae – “It looked real. I really liked it.”
Jay – “There is a planet that rains diamonds!”
2 Dingoes have been creating various artworks this year. They
have been experimenting with a range of techniques and
media such as collage, paint and stamping. The students have
enjoyed opportunities to appreciate their own artworks and
those of others.

Dance Sport On Tuesday 22 October Miss Perkins, Mrs Absalom, Mr Aves and Miss Thompson took 40 Stage Two and
Three students to perform at this year’s Dance Sport Competition. They showed great charisma in
performing dances like the samba, cha cha, barn dance, gypsy tap, slow rhythm and the waltz. It was a
fantastic day for the students to compete against other schools. Our Stage Three couple, Segia and Wesley,
who danced the Waltz, placed 5th. Noumea placed 4th overall. Thank you to all for a wonderful display of
dance talent!

KLA KAPERS
Science Report All around us the world is constantly changing and the same could be said for Noumea. Having enjoyed two incursions already this Term you could definitely say that Term Four in Science has gotten off to a great start.
On Monday of Week Two, Early Stage One and Stage One participated in an ‘EnviroMentors’
workshop which focussed on the importance of recycling and waste management. These
presentations are not only informative and highly relevant but very much hands on and a lot of
fun.
On the Friday of the same week, Years K-6 had the opportunity to experience a ‘Virtual Reality
tour of our Solar System’ and from all reports it was a huge success. The event was a first for
our school with over half of the school participating and for those who missed out bookings
have already been made for a return visit next year.
In the classroom, this Terms’ focus is on the “Physical World” with Stage Three currently
investigating “forces”, in particular “friction” whilst Stage One is learning all about “sound”.
There’s never a dull moment at Noumea. That’s for sure.
