choice. The selection process.Finding out information about the university.The sample size was small, with only 40 samples.

The Results Summary, Gender Specific

65% of the international students are males and 35% are females.

gender proves to have no significance on most of the results it only differed in two outcomes.

“to experience a new lifestyle” with higher female proportion than males.

The 2nd question was related to the value of diploma, males found the value of the diploma as they expected, where females were less satisfied.

International Students Data I

Nearly half (47.5%) of the international students come from Asia. Second to Asia was Africa with 35%, students coming from Europe make

about 12.5%. The country which had the majority share of students was Turkey with

27.5%. 25% of students in their 1st year, 40% in their 2nd and 35% in their 3rd. The students find that their English knowledge is of a high level as 75%

(good to perfect) listening and writing, 72.5% in reading and 67.5% in speaking

The students year of birth ranged between 1976 and 199. 50% were high-school graduates before joining, 40% were university

students and 10% were university graduates.

The reason with the highest result was a new lifestyle. The 2nd reason was the difficulty of education in their

country. The low quality of education in their country is 3rd. The fourth most important reason was the Social and

political confusion in your country. 12.5% chose to study a new subject unavailable in your

country. High tuition fees in your country and other reasons came

last. One student specified her other reason as the difficulty of

the education style in her country. The tuition fees didn’t seem significant, so we asked the

students to compare the average tuition fee in their country with the tuition fee of the University of Debrecen,

65% answered that it’s less than Debrecen University. 25% said it’s almost the same. Only 10% said it was higher.

Studying Abroad & Selecting a University

0% decided to study abroad “At primary School”. 17.5% said “At secondary School”. 30% said “at university level”. 52% said “At high-School”. The University of Debrecen was the first choice for 52.5%. Those who answered no wanted to go to different

universities in 8 different countries. Mostly wanted to go to the UK, USA, Germany, Switzerland,

Canada, France, Turkey and the University of Budapest. The reasons why they did not study at their favorite

university Financial factors which 37%. the 2nd reason was a rejected Visa application with 26%. Rejected university application came third with 21%, and there was other reasons which made about 16%.

• The easiest of the 4 factors is application requirements with 52.5%.

• 2nd is the acceptance exam and procedure with 45%.

• Visa application is found easy or very easy by 37.5% of the sample where only 35% found information access to be of that nature.

• However, 22.5% found that information access was difficult where 30% saw that the visa application was of a difficult nature.

• Second is the educational standard as 47.5% thought it’s as expected.

• The lowest on the scale was other services.

• 20% said they recommended it to many, 47.5% to just a few and 27.5% didn’t.

• 45% said they would recommend, 30% maybe and 20% no.

• 50% thought Debrecen as average expectation, 15% found it less than average and 12.5% found it more than average.

Financial Factors

70% of the international students depend entirely on their family to provide for them.

2.5% depend on themselves.2.5% depend on scholarship. The last 25% depended on all of those

resources plus other without specifying it.37.5% of the students spend an average

of 75,000 FT a month. 37.5% spend 150,000 FT.25% spend an average of 250,000 FT

monthly.
