Healing Justice Meeting: Thursday, January 3, 7:00 PM in the Living Room of Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Boca Raton (UUFBR). All are needed and welcome.
The New Year dawns with potential for Healing Justice work as part of UUFBR. Those of you who are new may not know about Healing Justice and how it fits with what we do at UUFBR. If you want to know more about our origins, visit http://www.uufbr.org/healing-justice/. Now we struggle to deepen our understanding of the meaning of racism as it exists within us, good white people who have done all we know how to do to combat this evil, as well as deep in the fiber of this nation ostensibly dedicated to freedom and justice for all. I have come to know racism is beyond complex. Two books help me to understand what it means to be white in America. Maybe you will find them useful. The first, White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism, 2018, by Robin Diangelo and White Rage: The Unspoken Truth About Our Racial Divide, 2016, by Carol Anderson. These sources help me to understand that while we have many successes to celebrate, we have a very long way to go and it is up to us white folk to find the way.
UUFBR Book Club Discussion: Small Great Things: NY Times best seller, a page turning mystery "with a gripping moral dilemma at its heart...With incredible empathy, intelligence, and candor, Jodi Picoult (bestselling NYT author) tackles race, privilege, prejudice, justice and compassion---and does not offer easy answers." Discussion led by Louise Malusis of HJ, January, 16, Osias Hall, 7:30 PM.
Martin Luther King Day: See Deb Weiss's article on the next page as she describes how we will join in the MLK Celebration in Boca Raton on January 21.
Join HJ in this enthralling musical narrative adventure Deeper Than The Skin, Sunday, March 17, 1:00pm. Two friends… one Black, one White… one from the North… one from the South! Musicians, storytellers, students of history and world travelers… Two separate narratives forged into one powerful friendship, finding common ground, helping others to do the same.
UUFBR Membership Committee Meeting, Sunday, January 13, 11:30am in the Living Room. All UUFBR members are welcome to join us. Volunteers are needed for our spring New Member
Dinner 2019, mentoring new members, and supporting programs to grow our congregation. Questions: [email protected]

About the Film We humans are a force of nature. At the
same time human activities alter the basic elements of life – earth, air, water,
and fire – those elements change human life.
In this riveting and visually rich drama, blending art and science, we
follow renowned environmental photographer James Balog as he explores the impact of wildfires,
hurricanes, sea level rise, a struggling coal mining community, and our
changing air. With rare compassion and heart, THE HUMAN ELEMENT
highlights Americans who are on the frontlines of climate change, inspiring us to re-evaluate our relationship with
the natural world.
FREE ADMISSION Registration is encouraged to help with planning.

Acupuncture and herbal medicine can be used to treat a wide variety of health complaints, either as a stand- alone treatment or in conjunction with other modalities. Many people simply enjoy that acupuncture makes them feel good, and allows them to better cope with stress and
emotional issues.
Erica has a Masters in Oriental Medicine (4-year program) from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (New York City), and has been practicing acupuncture and herbal medicine for 11 years. In this professional clinic, treatments are given in a community setting, meaning that a handful of patients will relax and receive acupuncture in the same room at the same time. This community method allows cost to stay low for both practitioner and patient. After a private consultation with Erica, patients move to a massage table or comfortable recliner where they can receive a treatment and then relax and heal in a quiet, serene environment.Fees are on a sliding scale of $25-$50 per treatment, with each patient deciding what he or she can afford for each treatment. There is an initial consultation fee of $10. The traditional model which prevails in the United States - that of charging patients up to $200 for private acupuncture in a spa-like setting, has made Chinese medicine unaffordable for most. Community acupuncture opens the door to the many who could benefit from treatment, but who could not previously afford it. Moreover, the pricing structure allows many people to come very frequently, which is how acupuncture works best.
Erica can be reached at [email protected] or by cell 718-541-4931 to answer any questions or to book an appointment.
Clinic Hours: Sunday: 8:30am-10:30am and 12:00pm-3:00pm Monday: 10:00am-2:00pm and 5:00pm-9:00pm
Wednesday: 9:00am-2:00pm Thursday: 8:00am-2:00pm Saturday: 9:00am-3:00pm
