Cognitive Processes2 important goals in education are to promote retention and promote transfer

Retention is the ability to remember the material in much the same way it was presented.

Transfer is the ability to use the material to solve new problems

In RBT, the first cognitive process aids in retention,

the other 5 in transfer.
