    OVERVIEWUndermining casts you in the role of rival miners, hollowing out an alienworld in your Universal Mining Vehicle (UMV) for fun and profit. Alongsideprized resources like Uranium, Titanium, Diamond, and Niobium, youre alsolikely to find powerful alien technologies left behind by an ancient civilization.

    COMPONENTS

    SETUPUnfold the game board and place it in the middle of the table. If this is your first game, itis recommended to play the side shown in the diagram.

    Place the equipment tiles onto the game board in the spaces indicated.

    GAMEPLAY OVERVIEWPlayers take turns drilling resources with their UMV and carrying them backto the warehouse on the planets surface where they can be used to acquireUMV upgrades or fill contracts for star bucks. The game ends when most ofthe contracts have been filled. The winner is the player who has the most star

    bucks at the end of the game.

    GAME TURNAt the start of the game players begin each turn with 3 action points, whichthey can spend on the actions described below. A player may use the same

    action more than once on the same turn.

    Later in the game, players may acquire reactors, which increase the numberof actions they get each turn, giving them one extra action per reactor theyhave built. Some players may wish to use coins or tokens of some sort, tokeep track of the actions they have spent on their turn.

    A player wishing to drill a resource tilesimply takes an adjacent resource fromthe game board and places it into anempty cargo bay on their player mat,and moves their UMV figure into thespace where the resource was. Playersmay not drill into a resource tile if theyhave no empty cargo bays available.

    A player wishing to drill an adjacentsolid rock tile simply turns the tile over,

    revealing the rubble side of the tile.The player does not move their UMVpiece.

    A player wishing to drill an adjacentrubble tile removes the rubble tile from

    Orange drills an adjacent Niobium.

    Orange drills an adjacent Solid Rock tile.

    When using the drive action, a playermay elect to pay 2 battery cubes to movethrough another player. A player mustend their action on an empty space.Moving through another player in thisway counts as moving through a space on the board, and so a player must have

    adequate movement left to use this ability.

    UNLOAD.When on the refinery space (shown at right), moveall resources in your cargo bays to your warehouse, located onyour player mat.

    Alien tech resource tiles are not placedinto the warehouse, but are discardedto the game box, and an alien tech cardis drawn for each tile discarded in thisway. There is no limit to the number ofresources a players warehouse can hold.

    Orange moves through blue by expending 2batteries during a drive action.

    CONTRACT.When on the refinery space, spend resources to fill a contract andget star bucks.

    To fill a contract, a player must return theresources shown on an active contract tothe game box. Then, they take the topstar bucks tile from the stack and discard

    the contract card, replacing it with the toptile on the contract deck. X-ium is wildand can be use in place of any resourcewhen filling a contract.

    CHARGE. Take one cube from thesupply, placing it into the battery slot onyour UMV. You may never have morethan 8 cubes.

    GAME ENDThe game ends immediately when one or more of the stacks of star buck tiles aredepleted. When this happens the current player finishes their turn, and each otherplayer gets one more turn.

    Players add up their star bucks tiles, receiving 1 star buck for each tile in theirwarehouse/cargo bays, 1 star buck for each unused alien tech card, and gain starbucks according to how many upgrades they have built:

    Upgrades: 1 = 4 star bucks

    2 = 7 star bucks3 = 9 star bucks

    4 or 5 = 10 star bucks

    The player with the most star buckswins! In the case of a tie, give each

    EQUIPMENT

    Drill bit - drill an extra time for each one installed in yourUMVee when you use the drill action. Costs one Diamondat the Refinery.

    Rocket - Move an extra space each time you use the driveaction. Costs one Niobium at the Refinery.

    Cargo Bay - Holds one resource. Costs two Titanium at theRefinery.

    Reactor - Grants the user one extra action every turn.Effective the turn it is acquired. Costs two Uranium at the

    Refinery.

    Unavailble bay - used in a 5 player game.

    OFFICIAL VARIANTS

    You can also play undermining with no luck.

    Instead of shuffling the alien techs at the start of the game, place them into 5face up piles, seperated by type. Now, Whenever you unload an alien tech,you take the Alien tech card that matches the tile you unload.

    Spread the contracts deck out in an upwards fashion off the top of the boardso you can see the order of the deck the whole game. Alternatively, you canjust allow the players to look through the deck at anytime during the game.

    THE LOST PAGES

    RESOURCES

    Solid Rock - These tiles become rubble once drilled.

    Rubble - These tiles are discarded when drilled

    Uranium - These tiles are placed into an available cargobay when drilled.

    Niobium - These tiles are placed into an available cargo

    bay when drilled.

    Titanium - These tiles are placed into an available cargobay when drilled.

    Diamond - These tiles are placed into an available cargobay when drilled.

    X-ium - These tiles are placed into an available cargo

    bay when drilled. They are wild and can be used in placeof any other resource for contracts and upgrades.

    Alien Techs - Althought the illustrations vary, all tiles with agreen hex on them are the same. These are placed into anavailable cargo bay when drilled.
