Dear Parents and Carers,

First of all, I would like to thank all my

parents and community members for their

support and patience while the school was

closed for two days due to the landslides. I

was glad to hear that everyone was safe at

home. I really hope that Mother Nature is

kind to us and we don’t have any more

disasters like bush fires and flooding, as I

think Australia has endured enough natural

calamities.

Kindergarten: What a very settled start

Kindergarten students have had to their

schooling. They are already working on

independent activities and are becoming

more used to the bells, routines and our

school’s Positive Behaviour for Learning

(PBL) expectations.

The Importance of Attending School:

Regular attendance is critical for students to

achieve optimal learning at school. When

your child attends school every day, learning

becomes easier and your child will build and

maintain friendships with other children.

Students are required by law to attend

school. Missing school adds up:

Following an absence from school you must

ensure that within 7 days you provide your

child’s school with a verbal or written

explanation for the absence. However, if the

school has not received an explanation from

you within 2 days, the school will contact you

to discuss the absence.

Absences are recorded on Student Reports

and students will be recognised at the end of

each term and will be awarded with a

certificate and a prize pack for 100%

attendance.

Meet & Greet and Badge Induction

Ceremony: Thank you to everyone who was

able to attend our Meet & Greet Assembly

yesterday. The level of attendance was very

high considering it’s a very small school. I

know that the teachers appreciated the

opportunity to communicate with you

regarding many aspects of the school year

ahead. Personally, I am delighted by the

number of parents that attended as it

reaffirms the very positive relationship that

exist between home and school.

Cascade Excursion: A Cascade excursion is

organised for Thursday, 27th February to

complement our Sustainability unit this term.

The focus is on reducing resource wastage,

how our waste affects the environment and

how humans and the environment are

interdependent. The school will cover the

cost and the staff has kindly offered to

provide transport to students in their cars.

However, we will need the permission note

signed to allow staff to transport your child to

and from Cascade.

Debating Enrichment day: Next Wednesday,

26th February, our senior students will be

attending a debating workshop being held at

Nana Glen Public School. The cost is $5 and

travel is by private transport.

Sport: Our sport for this term is cricket and

the coach will be coming up every Friday to

teach some valuable skills on how to play

cricket.

P&C News: Do you want to get involved in

your child’s /children’s school? Our P & C is a

great way to do that.

We hold monthly meetings, run Mother’s

Day and Father’s Day stalls, Easter and

Christmas raffles, you can volunteer in our

canteen and much more. You can do as little

or as much as you like. If you would like more

information please contact the school on

Tuesday, 25th February, at 2:30 pm in the

Library. I hope to see my new families getting

involved in our P&C meetings and have their

input in child’s school.
