Training Phase.

The training period for the certification lastsfor a period of around 4 to 6 monthsdepending on various factors.

The audit is supposed to be completed in oneday jointly by 2 UGRA experts fromSwitzerland.

The Audit Fee is 6500. (excl. misc. expanses) If the audit exceeds a day then an additional

fee of 1000 per day.

The duration of the certification is 2 yearsafter which the organization is supposed toapply for a fresh audit.

Requirements Display to be set up in favorable environment i.e. no glare on the display

should be recognizable.

Ambient light conditions and Display must be calibrated acc. To ISO 12646-7.

Audit Accomplished during interview with per-press employees.

Analysis

Illumination should be 50 to 20 lux and color temperature 5000 K (ISO 12646). Environment of the display must be grey.

Control must be periodical.

The light box to be placed next to display and must show 400 500 lux and500 k.

Requirements Proof has to be accomplished acc. to ISO 12647-7.

Colors are measured at the media wedge.

Measuring devices must be maintained.

Audit Eight pages of visual reference have to be proofed.

The color reproduction is measured with media wedge on all eight pages .

The proofs are measured at UGRA again to find out the fading speed ofproofing materials (after 10 days).

Analysis All the 8 pages of the visual print reference are proofed.

Media wedge is measured according with the device at the audited company.

Proof is evaluated according to : resolution, smoothness, gloss, vignettes andcolor.

Requirements The PDFX-ready output form is outputted, in order to examine RIP settings.

Audit Checks to ensure plate production is operated according to standard quality

management rules.

Analysis Exposure unit under control ?

Operator has knowledge to use the software ?

Activity of the chemicals in the developer under control ?

All the data for measurements, tolerances and control limits must be defined.

The staff should be aware about the action if tolerances limits go out ofcontrol.

Requirements Color assessments for proofs and prints must satisfy ISO 3664 standards.

Audits The light source is measured with light meter, EYEONE Pro and the software

Babel color.

Analysis Color temperature must be 5000 K.

CRI (Color Rendering Index) must be at least 90.

MI (Metameric Index) must be lower than 1.

On a larger picture is looks useful for ITD. The UGRA certification is not very popular with

Consumer goods industry ???

The SOP of ITD to be studied. To understand where we are in comparison to UGRA,

visit to UGRA certified company to be arranged. To understand the pros on cons of the certification;

consult an UGRA expert. What infrastructure up gradation is required for UGRA

??? Study relevance of UGRA PSO for ITD and

justification of cost.
