”Before, the income only came
from artwork, family working in other states and local agriculture,
which is very little”
“I came here with the expectation of finding simplicity, carrying less weight. I wanted to learn how to live lighter in my daily life in São Paulo. But what I found taught me so much more than that!”

Meaningful ConnectionsVivejar believes that a trip is so much more than just an opportunity to get to know a different place. It is an opportunity to connect tourists and a community in a profound way that will allow them to exchange experiences. While the tourist can learn more about the local people and their way of life, about their unique and strong traditions, the community also have the possibility to learn the same from the visitors. This creates empathy, understanding and generates learning and tolerance. And we would like to say that in the long run, also a better world!

Our Values
Co-creationThe first value of Vivejar is co-creation. In all our tours, the process is the same: we never enter a community with a finished plan. We create together, all participants. The community suggests what they want to show, and we contribute with our expertise to shape the tour. Creating it in a way that promotes the connections between the community members and the tourists is a fundamental pillar in this work.
Positive Social ImpactThe second value in our work is Positive Impact. We take great measures to decrease possible negative outcomes in order to
maximize our positive ones. We are committed to measuring and
sharing our results! We want tourism to be an important tool
for the development and preservation of the environment
and the cultural heritage of Brazil.
A Different kind of ExperienceWe cherish deep and meaningful connections. Therefore we always create our community tours in an authentic way. With us you can expect far more than just the average "city tour". Traveling with Vivejar means living in the community, eating the typical foods and learning about the activities that identifies the place. We are sure that our travelers will leave the community with far more than just a new experience, but also with several new friends.
Women’s empowermentAfter many years of working with local development, we know that
investing in women means investing in the development of a society as a whole! Our priority is
to make tourism an instrument of empowerment through
income generation, entrepreneurship, increased self-
esteem and especially, the opportunity of CHOICE.

From Clay to Art
The Tour Our first tour is what motivated us to start Vivejar and share our lessons to other communities in Brazil. This experience in the Jequitinhonha Valley was our prototype.
The tour focuses on the art of ceramists from the communities of Campo Buriti and Campo Alegre, in Minas Gerais. In difficult circumstances these strong women found possibilities despite of the drought by creating dolls and other pieces from the clay. Today the work of these women is internationally recognized for its unique style.

Sometimes we don’t have everything, so we
