Ohio is facing a critical shortage of educators prepared to meet the unique needs of learners with visual impairments, leaving a large population of students without access to services. ln response to this personnel need, the ryl Colla borative-with the contributions of national experts as well as institutions of higher education, regional providers, and districts from across the state-has crafted a rigorous program featuring a common curriculum to be delivered collaboratively by five Ohio institutions of higher education through online coursework complemented by extensive field experience. This consortium model creates multiple access points to professional preparation around the state, allowing participants to remain in their respective a reas of Ohio during the program experience, and in return, serve as an lS:Vl in Ohio (perthe terms of a three-year service agreement required of participants receiving tuition support). Pathway 1: For Candidates Holding an lntervention Specialist (lS) License

IEarly Childhood, Mild-Moderate, or Moderate-lntensive]

Priorlty admission to the lS:Vl licensure preparation program will be given to thosecandidates who hold a currently valid license in lS. While each candidate's priorpreparation and experience will need to be reviewed, it is expected that thesecandidates will not need to complete additional coursework beyond the eight classescomprising the Core Coursework, based on reading and special education courseworkrequirements associated with the lS license.

Pathway 2: For Candidates Holding a Standard (Non-lS) License

IEarly Childhood, Middle Childhood, Adolescence to Young Adult, Multi-Age]

It is expected that candidates who hold a currently valid standard license will berequired to complete some coursework in reading and/or special education inaddition to completing the eight classes comprising the Co re Coursework. Specificdeterminations regarding the number of additional hours required in reading and/orspecial education will be based on review of each individual candidate's priorpreparation and experience.
