WONDERFUL JOB EVERYONE

Congratulations to everyone, students, parents and staff. This has been very new for all of us and we commend you for the quality of work that we are seeing submitted by students. We have received very positive feedback on the refinement of the TPS Home Learning Site to daily tasks rather than weekly. We are trialling teacher introduction videos each day on SeeSaw for Prep to 2 and on the Google Classroom for Year 3 - 6 students this week where one of the teaching team will introduce the day in addition to the TPS Home Learning Site. Not all year levels are up and running yet but you will see them start up soon. The Year 3 to 6 students and families are getting great teacher feedback on the Google Classroom and are very satisfied with this.

We appreciate the enthusiasm, time and effort our families have given to the new style of learning and we are so proud and impressed. Wonderful job everyone!

ANZAC DAY SATURDAY 25TH OF APRIL

We have added an ANZAC Day Tab to our TPS Home Learning Site with read aloud story videos. There is some information about ANZAC Day, what it is and why it is special. You may like to cook some ANZAC biscuits if you have flour in the pantry and you may like to make a paper poppy or complete some colouring.

We encourage our students to close their eyes and think about all the men and women who have served Australia in times of war and conflict, and about those who have died.

STAFF NEWS

Two more Tulliallan babies were born in the holidays making our total eight since we started the school. Congratulations to Mrs Maddy Tucker who welcomed Oaklee and Mrs Hannah Woods who welcomed Odette, two beautiful little girls.

Miss Griffiths from 4E unfortunately has appendicitis and is having an operation today and we wish her well.

Mrs Sinclair had an operation on her back last week and will continue rehabilitation to support her recovery. I am sure she will be back on her feet in no time.

YEAR 6 TO 7 TRANSITION INFORMATION PACK

We have received information from the Department of Education in regard to the application form for Year 7 placement.

The Year 6 teachers will be in touch next week sending out the application form and how to return it to school.

COVID-19 AND REMOTE LEARNING UPDATE

The Victorian Government continues the advice that all schools will be conducting remote learning at this stage and when we are updated we will certainly inform parents via COMPASS.

This means that all students who can learn at home must learn from home. This is a very clear directive by the Victorian Government based on the advice of the Chief Health Officer.

All students will be learning from home, except for children on days when they are not able to be supervised at home and no other arrangements can be made. School will have limited staff to supervise students on site and any students who attend due to exceptional circumstances will be using the TPS Home Learning Site as they would do at home.

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Hello everyone, I hope you are all healthy and staying safe in these unprecedented times. Thank you for the overwhelming positive feedback to our TPS Home Learning Site. Our staff are working so hard to ensure your child has continuous learning whilst at home. This week you can access some ANZAC stories on a new ANZAC Day tab on the Home Learning site. You will see Ms Sharp, Mr Wright and myself reading an ANZAC story to remind us all of the importance of ANZAC Day on Saturday April 25th. We hope you enjoy the stories and any of the activities you choose to do.

READING AT HOME

During remote learning time reading with your child is a lovely way to enjoy some relaxing time but still with learning occurring. Shared reading is when you read with your child while your child follows the words, looks at the pictures and joins in where they can. By reading with your child it builds confidence, expands vocabulary, promotes pleasure from reading and demonstrates concepts of print such as reading left to right and top to bottom. Enjoy!

YEAR TWO

Firstly, a huge thankyou to all of our lovely students and parents, we are so proud of you all! It is wonderful to see how well you have adapted to this different style of learning, already completing the first week of remote learning. All of the Year Two teachers have been blown away with the fantastic work your children are completing. As you can see (pictured below from Ayush, Isabel and Gunnit), we have had so many tasks uploaded and submitted onto Seesaw. We are thrilled to see all the great work our awesome bunch of year two students are doing, keep up the great work!

Lastly, the Year Two Teachers are missing you all, our days are just not the same without seeing our students little happy faces. However, seeing how well you have settled in (pictured below James, Alexia and Evan) and the fabulous attitude you are all displaying really puts a smile to our faces. Remember we are all in this together!

YEAR THREE

Hi Everyone! We just wanted to say congratulations again on all of your efforts last week. You have all made a fantastic start to your remote learning and we just could not be more proud of you all. It is amazing to see how well you have adapted to using our Google Classroom in just one short week, as we are starting to see through the work that is being submitted! Check out some of the wonderful work completed by Jake P, Kareem, Qalisya and Valerie.

We love speaking to you all each day and hearing how you are going and how you’re helping out your brothers and sisters, as well as your parents. You and your parents should be so proud of your work ethic and positive attitudes. Keep continuing to be the superstar learners we know you all are, help out and support each other and we will continue to grow as learners together.

Amazing effort Year Three!!

YEAR FOUR

Firstly, to all of our students and parents congratulations on completing your first week of remote learning! All of the Year Four teachers are so proud of what everybody has achieved. As you can see below (from Xavier, Jasnoor and Zavier’s work) we have had many fantastic submissions of work, whether it is through a picture or document on Google classroom so please keep that going!

We are also just as proud of how well you have all adapted and applied yourself to this new style of schooling. It has been great to see and hear about a number of students (just like Eva is above) helping out little brothers and sisters as well as your parents! So please keep up this fantastic attitude and willingness to learn, help out and support each other, as we are all new to this and all learning it together.

Well done Year Four!

YEAR FIVE

Congratulations to everyone in the Year Five Learning Community for an excellent first week of Home Learning. We have all used and shared a lot of patience and determination to produce some innovative and creative learning experiences at home. Adam and Jawad showed great persistence to complete all of their set tasks in Maths and Piper created a terrific table to record her length task.

We have loved seeing our Year Five students assisting their younger siblings with home learning and teaching Mum and Dad too!

So, as we move into the second exciting week, we can’t wait to see what our amazing Year Five learners will come up with next.

YEAR SIX

Students in Year 6 have successfully started Term 2 with our online learning program. Through Google Classroom they have been completing Maths, Writing, Reading and Inquiry tasks on a daily basis. Here are some of their initial thoughts on tackling this current style of schooling.

I am proud to know that I have managed to complete my work during these tough times. I find online learning fun because you don’t only learn the tasks your teacher has set you but you also learn how to time manage yourself. (Diya)

I didn’t think it was too hard to do work once I knew what I was doing and because of the teachers’ clear instructions, it made it easier! I am proud of myself because I complete all my work and try my best! (Ashlisha)

I’m happy that we get to start doing school again. This week it hasn't been too hard for me to settle in with the new timetable. I haven't come across any issues with home learning. I don't have any questions about the tasks, the instructions are pretty straight forward. I’ve been managing my time table by following the recommended time table because it helps me keep track of what I need to do. I try to follow the same study times as what we would be doing at school and taking the same amount of break time I would be getting. (Alicia)

I am going well with the work. I forgot to hand in a couple of times but I fixed it. The technical side I am not struggling with anymore because I got some help. I feel like I am ready for more work. Thanks a lot. (Bailee)

I think it will be easier next week because this week we were still figuring out everything and getting used to the time table. Online learning will obviously never match up with learning at school but it’s not that bad, we have more time to do most tasks and we can choose which order to do the tasks in. (Autumn)

SPECIALISTS

This week the Year 5 and 6's have been using a simple 3D modelling software called Tinkercad in order to design and create houses. This software is the foundation for using professional software like AutoCad and you can see our students have done an outstanding job applying this technology to make beautiful houses.

CONGRATULATIONS DIYA

Diya 2H has won the Global Online Egg Craft Competition hosted by Food Allergy Friends. She has won some food allergy awareness posters and books that she is able to share with her school.
